Yup, I'm GenX and owned one (Hornets). I ONLY wore it on my college campus in Maine back then, being from Queens, NYC because wearing a Starter attracted trouble and attention. In '89/'90 some knucklehead would start a beef with you on the train or park because they saw your jacket. Feels strange remembering those times.

my friend got jacket from his uncle in USA, a starter NY hockey team jacket with big ass logo of liberty statue on back. maaaan he was king of eastern europe for a while in the 90s XD we had bootleg charlotte hornets jackets on black markets but nuthin similiar to the legit one- it was shiny, well made and even zipper was wth starter logo. he even got nickname "jackson" because it sounded american back days.

Let me take some of you millennials and GenZ’s back, while being observed by Gen X: it was early 1990s out in Far Rockaway Queens, it’s late in autumn, me and a couple of friends are all wearing starter from the caps down to the satin jackets along with some air forces of course. Spending Saturday evening bouncing around house parties, having fun looking and feeling stylish. Those were some real times.

My first starter was the red satin Sixers jacket late 70’s. Then got a all black Raiders satin mid 80’s and 1989 I got a Red satin UNLV jacket. Just got a Yankees satin off homage few weeks ago. Brings back the vibes of those jackets but I think quality was better back in the day

Nike has a monopoly on the basketball shoe markets, and jerseys too cause they been making nfl jerseys since 2012 after reebok then they took over the nba jersey making contract after that and now for the last 2 yrs make mlb jerseys too and it seems like the nfl jersey quality went down and they use that recycled polyester bs and made the prices go real high too but fanatics actually manufacture nikes jersey for them but fanatics also makes mitchell and ness jerseys too. Nike doesn't need to be greedy with there prices though when u got the sneaker market locked down with Jordan shoe brand too if anything there prices should be lower not price gouging cause there shit isint even made in america it's made in china or some other Asian country.

Dude, I had starter this and that. I had a Bears parka, 49ers pullover jacket, White Sox button down vinyl jacket in grammar school and by high school which was 93 to 97 for me. Starter populator started to dim by that time. Shit Starter used to make shoes as well if I remember correctly. I never owned a pair. Now you have so many hat companies. It was really good quality products.

Starter was popping even in NZ in the 90s, and class mate was a fence for the dudes thieving them, so he had tons of clean ones. The Charlotte Hornets jacket was the one to have back then. I had a Duke starter cap, knowing very little of who Duke was beyond the odd small article in Sports Illustrated, so the Christian Laetner 30 for 30 was a real eye opener! The 90’s was around the time production moved overseas for a lot of retail sports jerseys. Despite the change, Starter was able to maintain a high standard of quality. Their El Salvador-made jerseys were still very nice products. It probably helped that at the time the NFL did not consolidate under a single brand, thus no monopoly.

Around 1992 I had the bulls starter parka in middle school. The pullovers were popular but it was the parkas that really meant something. The most hyped were the all black parkas with the hoods and the logo on the chest and big logo and on the back. Even the color matching little cord locks mattered. I collect starter jackets now. Nostalgia is real.

The Starter pullover coats/jackets back in the early 90’s was the dopest piece of your outfit. Those and the kicks. Anyone else old enough to remember the Pro Player jackets? They were like the Starter jackets except they had the mascot going up and down the arms of the jacket. Whatever team mascot logo would be a buck of them that went up and down the back of the sleeves. I liked the Pro Player ones better than the Starter jackets for that reason alone. Had both as a kid but I always loved those jackets. As a Ky boy I had a UK Wildcats one of course but I also had a Cowboys Starter jacket, Norte Dame and Miami Pro Player jackets and they were sick with the Cane bird or the Fighting Irishman logo going up the sleeves. Man I miss those days. The world was so much better. Also I can’t remember what brand did the big head little body t shirts. Y’all remember them? The NBA players and NFL and MLB players t shirts that had a cartoon like look and had giant heads with little/regular size bodies. Those t shirts were the shit back then!!! But I only had one pullover starter winter coat… THE BUFFALO BILLS… That jacket made me a fan till this day of the bills.
