Thrawn was right. Dodonna would never leave his comrades behind and be the first to evacuate. Edit: Matt Martin said that some notes got mixed up and Dan Wallace was unaware that Dodonna was going to die in a comic. It will be fixed in future prints and will most likely be updated to include new events like the attack on the shipyard.

I like both canon and legends in this case. It's nice knowing in Legends that he dies peacefully in his sleep but I like his sacrifice in canon,he dies so that the Rebellion can survive.

In Legends, Dodonna was technically only in Lusankya for 7 years. He and the other prisoners were moved elsewhere until their eventual rescue 2 years later after Horn's escape compromised Lusankya's secrets.

I prefer the canon. That part of the comic hit home how desperate and challenging it was to rebel agains the empire and decimated nearly all of the rebels. It sort of makes the battlefield even. The Death Star was destroyed but it did little up until it was. The rebels did so much up until they destoryed the Death Star then took heavy losses. So the rebels sort of lost that bit of the conflict. I like that. I was always confused how the rebels could have hundreds of troop variants, ships and people training all these specialized groups yet took like 20 years to beat the empire. I like the idea of the rebels being really small and splintered. Its more interesting to me than having then be the CIS 2 with sentients instead of droids.

When Corran Horn gets sent to Lusankya and meets Dodonna there, Dodonna knew nothing about Hoth or anything else that happened after Yavin, and had no idea that the Emperor and Vader had died. In the books, he just goes by Jan and never mentions what his specific involvement with the Rebellion was. When I was reading it for the first time, I had no idea who he really was either, and I figured it out at the same time Corrn Horn did. So well written. So of course, Disney had to throw it out and replace it with something inferior.

The Mako-Ta space docks massacre was such a shitty idea by Marvel (as is much in the comics). It borderline contradicts Twillight company, which already gave us an (somewhat vague) account of the general state of the rebels and events between ANH and ESB. Generally speaking it is stated that the rebels pretty much kick ass after the destruction of the Death Star going on a winning spree until Hoth. Also Lost Stars pretty much indicates that the rebel fleet stays on the move/spaceborn the whole time.

The Empire should be kinda stunned and on the backfoot after Yavin, being thrust into a position they didn't prepare or plan for at all. The Senate is desolved w/o a Death Star thread replacing it in the military should have to fight a bunch of fights they didn't expect (open rebellion, likely not only from the Alliance based on what happened).

@@omarbaba9892 Issue is, that with neither Death Star nor Senate there's exactly one tool to keep the Galaxy under control: the military. Keeping almost an entire galaxy in check should tie their hands pretty heavily. They just shouldn't have the capacity to properly prosecute the rebels (who have the luxury of not holding territory and being able to just fade away on short notice)
