My Hero Academia is still doing pretty well. The manga is amazing and the final war arc has been so good. It’s already my new favorite arc. Star and Stripe arc is a pretty solid arc, it has significance to the story and some people just call it filler for some reason. I know the whole Bakugo “death” thing was controversial but it was honestly people jumping to conclusions way too quickly. People just assumed he was gonna die even though there was evidence of him surviving for his character arc. Horikoshi has a way of making the characters winning feel earned like with Bakugo and AFO. MHA still has a lot of potential considering it has multiple spin-offs and light novels. The movies don’t need to be phenomenal, they’re fun side adventures that expand on the world. Some people take that way too seriously. MHA is a great series and it definitely deserves a reread because people will miss a lot of minor details throughout the story

The title of the video is a bit baity, but you do you. Honestly MHA became my favourite Shonen after avoiding the Anime and Manga for years because of it being stereotyped as a classic Shonen. But can you still call it that? The themes of manipulation, extremism and radicalisation are pretty mature and it never occurred to me that Dekus coming of age story was basically about that: Each arc Deku meets someone who has a huge problem with the society he idolises (each arc he also gets a piece of equipment that forms a bit of his character as well) and Deku may very well be the only Shonen protagonist out there to not realise his dream because while he knows the ideals he liked are essentially still good, his dream hurts others. And it really shows that Hori planned the entire series out from start to finish, the writing really is something and more contemporary important than I could have predicted. Anyways the Manga really hits you when you’re in your late 20’s because while MHA appears to be somewhat wierd and out there, the characters in it are not and during your life you will most likely see people actually radicalise their behaviour for the worse or better and you will also understand the importance of saving kids from abusive families. Families are the smallest cells of our society and we need to protect kids, most importantly from abuse, neglect, mental and medical mistreatment, harassment and grooming. Don’t look away and at least try to reach out a hand and help, despite political opinion, race or status, cause that’s what makes a hero in MHA. See the human again behind the anonymous and distant persona. That said, it’s also nice that the Anime has only one to two filler eps each season and a generally a fast pacing. Season 7 was by the way supposed to be the last season, but Hori couldn’t keep the schedule for finishing the manga because of severe health issues so we will most likely get a really short season 8. I’m kinda envious of the people who will get to binge MHA and experience all the call backs, plot twists and pay offs immediately after one another. And for all the Deku-haters out there: Yes, Deku cries a lot. But he never freaking whines! He never complains like other mcs but focuses on improving and a solution (he also never whines about being horny, sleepy or hungry, even though he is a teenage boy who almost ate nothing and got no sleep for three months).

Mha is my favorite anime. I went into the show completely blind not knowing what was going on in the manga (i started when Season 4 finished) I've enjoyed it ALOT but i have to admit there has been times when i completely lost care and interest for the anime/manga. For the anime i lost interest in Season 5 and in the manga i stopped when they focused on the Mutants too much. But Horikoshi is really good at drawing u back in which is why i had came back and finished Season 6 and now im caught up to the manga. The show/manga definitely has its slow points but when those slow points are finished the amount of hype that comes after is crazy🔥🔥

The problems that JJK fans have is mostly with decisions that Gege makes such as killing most characters, is the story well crafted, yeah, most people don't dispute that, but it's emotionally taxing to see a character, vibe with them, then immediately have them ripped away in a vicious fashion. Not that much of an argument but I thought I would explain how I view the issue people have with Gege.

If you want to know why we hate it, the Deku arms subplot is the perfect example of all of its flaws. Great set up, got everyone invested with the gear and the shoot style, tf happened? It would have been interesting with the addition of new quirks, but nope, Deku is fine.
@hangry3102
@hangry3102 6 ай бұрын
@@supermanblackedition Huh?... I'm guessing that you're referring to the accumulated damage of Deku's arms early on in the series. Deku's arms were never a "sub plot". They were a point of contention for his development during his training arcs. Actual sub plots are Deku and Bakugou's rivalry, or Deku and Ochako's romantic relationship, or Todoroki mending his relationship with his father, Endeavor. Deku's arms in comparison were hardly brought up unless he was training or fighting, and then hardly ever mentioned again after he developed shoot style because he grew past that. What are you confused by, that Deku simply had character development? 😕

I mean I think the series is incredible at the moment, the ending anyway. The only weak point of the series for me has been the class A vs B stuff. Generally I would be of the opinion that the manga does it better than the anime, but the anime is still good or at least enjoyable for the most part at least. And one thing especially about My Hero Academia is that it has some of the highest peaks amongst shonen anime; Nomu fight, Todoroki vs Midoriya, Shigaraki speaking to Midoriya in the shopping centre, Midoriya vs Overhaul, All might vs All for one, Endeavour vs High End, Shigarakis awakening; I could go on. And ye look, the series is inconsistent at times, but is that not just par for the course of writing a weekly manga series? Look at Naruto’s war arc, One Piece’s pacing, Demon Slayer is carried by its animation sometimes, heck, even JJK, probably the most popular manga series in the world right now is arguably going through a bit of a dull patch since Gojo and Sukuna ended. All of these series are dearly beloved and generally praised far more so than My Hero Academia. And to be honest, I think it’s almost become a trend to hate on My Hero nowadays, often assimilating the hate to “the fanbase”. Like seriously bro, how are you gonna let a minority community within the fan base ruin your experience with the series; a shallow minded, stupid excuse to just hate on the series for the sake of it. Like sure, a few dodgy videos of Bakugo and Midoriya cosplayers exist, that’s got nothing to do with your consumption of the series! I also think people hate on it because it’s probably more kid friendly compared to a lot of other series, particularly in its art style. I also think culturally, the premise of a superhero story is more associated with kids compared to say a story about Shinobi, or Jujutsu Sorcerers, Devils, Soul Reapers etc, and so people hate on it for being a baby show or something, when of course if you’ve indulged in My Hero Academia, you know it’s much more than just that. I’m just passionate about the series man and I really think the hate is so unnecessary. People will just hate for any reason nowadays. (Edit: Grammar mistakes)

I pretty much agree with everything you said. Being a MHA fan is seen as a bad thing because of the whole Fandom situation of course. It’s interesting to learn about people’s favorite parts of MHA and what they didn’t like as much. A lot of these complaints about MHA I probably would have said about other Shonen that were around back then. I have some issues with One Piece but it’s still one of my favorites of all time. I love One Piece and what Oda was able to do with that story

Thank you. This what I've been saying for the longest time I'll end in the manga. I would say that the class one day and class one B's fight or handled better just because it felt a lot quicker but the animation. Surprisingly, for the class warning class 1B fight in the anime was actually pretty phenomenal, which I was really shocked by and they for some reason switched around the order of the arcs and had the my villain academia arc at the very end of the season even though it was supposed to come after the class when it versus class 1B fight. But overall it just seems like there's a huge hate train for MHA. And don't get me wrong. I'm not even trying to say that the series is perfect or anything close, but the criticisms that it does get dealt with. They don't make any sort of sense and those are always the ones that get popular which irks me because there's actually criticisms and good reasonings behind saying something like this character was handled poorly but nobody talks about it cuz we're too focused on Deku wanting to use his legs to fight and season 4 instead of his arms and people trying to say that to some of the first four seasons
@anthonybarnes706
@anthonybarnes706 6 ай бұрын
@@marvelmaniacs1100% there is most definitely a hate train for the series, and it feels very targeted. And I don’t know about you or anyone else but through my consumption of media, I see FAR more hate for My Hero than I do other Shonen series of its time such as Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, Black Clover, Chainsaw Man, Mob Psycho. And I really do think the hate stems from this farsical misconception of the fanbase and has developed into this sort of trend.

I think when people talk about the high train stuff for MHA they're always comparing it to when it first came out. But every series is going to have more hype when it first came out cuz it's always something new and it's always something you unique. So when it goes on longer and longer the hype train will eventually dive down a little bit which is why I also think people try to say it fell off even though it never once fell off. I don't know. It's a weird situation, but either way I'm watching my hero so the day I die😂🔥

I will say that the fact that this is Horikoshis first big project and the fact that it has gotten this big is an achivement. I will truly judge the story when its over as for now Im letting Horikoshi cook. A lot of the really vocal haters are just manga stans malding over ultimately pointless stuff. Like are you really going to bitch about them switing a arc even tough the shortening did hurt it. The fact that people unironicaly rage about the sky being blue is just laugable. With the movies saying that they take away from the show is kinda questionable since its diffrent teams responsible. For that narrative to be true the earlier seasons should have had movie level quality since the budget would go all to the show. The fact that Horikoshi as so far made it so that the movies are canon but not requierd is just a testament to how much he cares. How many others just put out non canon movies just cause. We have seen How writing evolve and change trough the story as he gets more experience. Just the fact that Horikoshi struggels and goes on with the series makes me respect it. I can admit that I am basically brainrotted by the show and just keep track about things more than most so my experience is definatley not the regular or maybe even intended. The fandom is definatley a yikes but what fandom doesent have its sharw of degenerates.

Honestly I think it faded out for a lot of people for certain reasons. One, I think the dark turn especially during My villain academia turn people off especially in Japan. Two, Stuido Bones kind of getting it the short end of the stick. When it comes to the animation doesn't help that they also do movies in-between the seasons that are not canon. So people think they're basically wasting their time seeing something that in the grant scheme of things don't matter to the overall story and plot. Hell you could even argue that the plot for the second my hero movie could easily be the final arc now in the manga with some tweaks. Then lastly three, people are just getting into other series or are getting superhero fatigue from other media like movies or shows but thats my opinion on the series. I still enjoy MHA but i can see why people are dropping it.

@@ShonenOuji I always find it hilarious when Shonen fans take it as an insult that a creator spent time away from writing their MAIN STORY to produce original characters, designs, screenplay, etc for a non canon movie (yes I know MHA movies are canon) used to bring more eyes to the series. Black Clover SOTWK, Dragon Ball Z Cooler’s Revenge, One Piece Film Red, etc. I don’t think I’m going out on a limb here when I say they weren’t released during Oscar season 😂😂😂😂. And to belabor this analogy I don’t think any creators would be offended when they inevitably wouldn’t be invited to the event. Because like I hinted at Shonen movie plots are even more wacky and absurd than their wacky and absurd shows. I’m pretty sure Horikoshi wasn’t trying to hit Akira level themes in WHM. Neither was Kubo, neither was Kishimoto, neither was Oda, etc, with any movie they created. I didn’t know theatrical critical acclaim was relevant in a series discussion, might have to re rank some other series. All in all, you’re not getting [hate] because you’re criticizing Mha. You’re getting hate b/c it’s the same Mha’s anime’s been bad since season 4 narrative that’s also old. Yes us anime/manga degenerates that are caught up to One Piece might have a problem. But casuals are not comparing panels to scenes in episodes. Casuals don’t know or care what Sakuga is. They watch the five headliners on Crunchyroll and go on with their lives. You’re getting [hate] b/c in a time where Horikoshi only has a few chapters left we should be celebrating him as one of the best EVER. Instead you hopped on the wave and added to the Rolodex of “downfall of Mha content.” About as corny as you can get.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. I think most people put really high expectations on the series as a whole and it didn't live up to that standard, so people got frustrated, mad, and now resort to shitting on the series. What most people don't realize is that not every series or show has to be the greatest or most thought provoking series ever made. My Hero Hero's Final Arc is heading for a pretty stereotypical ending which has a lot of people up in arms, and I, not being one of those people can still recognize and what most people fail to mention is what My Hero Academia is good at. It does the straightforward hero's journey story well, with a great main character, incredible world building and interesting take on the super hero genre, while having some of the best manga art we've ever seen! I truly believe no matter My Hero's Legacy, Kohei Horikoshi will go down as one of the best manga artists of all time, and that should be celebrated!

So I guess this type of video exploring the course the a series is a new format you have on the channel. It's not a bad idea. MHA for me was a series that I felt a lot of people overhyped but I'm overall glad I got into it. It reaped both the benefits and the ire that came with the superhero genre blowing up. As much I love dunking on the series and the current arc, I will have to concede that you do make valid points when you say Horikoshi is one of the best artists in the industry & the best of the series is exceptional. That being said I wouldn't consider it one of the best overall. Promised Neverland has arguably the one of the best opening arcs in Shonen manga but most people wouldn't consider it one of the best. Undead Unluck is arguably one of the best current arcs right now in WSJ, but if you rank among a lot of other manga it won't come up as high overall. Best thing I can say for MHA (besides MVA being one of my favorite shonen arcs) is that's it's the series with the most impact for the current generation of anime/manga fans. What Naruto did for my generation, MHA did for this one.

That’s a good way of putting it like Naruto. And yeah! The Black Clover video did well so I wanna do more of these videos. The goal is to recap how a series started out and where it got to where it is today and also layout what people are feeling about the series as a whole and discuss that in-depth. Everyone seems to be enjoying them so far

Is promised neverland Shonen though? Like it doesn’t really focus on a boy coming of age :D I would place it more into thriller or horror category. Anyway I think the final chapters we got and especially the Ururaka fight completely floored me. I had the lowest level of hype for Toga V Uravity but it completely overshadowed the Dabi fight. The only thing bad about the mangela the last two years for me was, that we really only got a few chapters because of Horis health issues. So people were forgetting about it in between (it was supposed to end in 2022, with a chapter each week, so we have a two year delay basically) And I’m super worried about Hori, because all these other famous mangaka keep tweeting him “please be save”, “please take care” “please make sure to prioritise your health”. So in one chapter Hori even apologised for the level of art, because “it hurts so much I can’t really move my hand or shoulder” but he still did not reveal what his condition actually is :(.

@@annaavertho4944 Reminder that shounen is a demographic, not a genre. And even then, it's literally just a matter of what magazine you're published in. Promised Neverland is published in SHOUNEN Jump. It's a shounen. Now whether or not it's a BATTLE shounen (which can be considered a genre), is another story, but even then, there are plenty of battle shounen with female protagonists or that aren't coming of age stories. From what I've heard about it, it seems like battle shounen adjacent in the same way as Death Note and Dr. Stone.

The Manga is amazing! And my personal choice over the anime! The Manga is not perfect, Horikoshi has his mishaps in the story here and there, but I absolutely love it. While the anime, I don't hate it, I still enjoy it and I still keep up to date with it until the end. The first 3 seasons will always be legendary to me! As for the films, ew. I like em, but they get in the way of the source material at times. Hell, Horikoshi tries to squeeze in the films as canon as much as possible while writing the Manga. A newcomer can watch through the entire seasons without any knowledge of the films and can still understand what's going on. The films are just there to be movies. And to ride on MHA success. Yes, yes, yes, I know they're canon. According to Horikoshi. But let's be real, the films are made on their own, not based on any thing from the Manga, in between seasons, and then Horikoshi tries to pull those films in the timeline so the films won't feel out of place. I'll never forgive the 3rd movie for ruining season 5. More pacifically My Villain Academia. I'll leave it at that. But over all, MHA is a love and hate series. So, take the series as you want. But I say it's worth a watch! And read!

Im a big mha fan and i gotta say good vid 👏👏. I read the comments theres a lot of hate and a few ppl saying mha is downright bad. I agree with you on a few points. Mha is great but it isnt perfect. I personally enjoyed the stars n stripes arc less about the story but more about the spectacle i think her quirk is unique and how beat up shigi was by the end was so cool. I do agree season 4 couldve been much better but its still a solid season. Im glad the dark hero arc was done justice in the anime and the bakugou stuff im still kinda torn on. Mha has done really well manga-wise hitting that 100 mil milestone. I think a lot of people watch the first half of this video and immediately think you're hating on it when at the end you say its one of the best manga. Anyways good vid man 👍

I’ve only been watching the anime but yeah the last few seasons have been pretty inconsistent. I did like the 2nd half of season 6 as the blue sky shenanigans were gone and the animation had a level of polish to it, but season 7 looks like it’s gonna go right back to that. It’s a shame because I think if they were able to get the background artists for the movies instead and also have a bigger gap between seasons for more time to work on the animation and maybe not produce the movies at the same time so Bones’ highest profile animators could work on the TV series, the series could look that much better and stand tall alongside series like Demon Slayer and JJK, but maybe all of those circumstances coming together is unrealistic. I mention the movies because even though they’re separate teams and there are definitely animators that would only work on the movies, animators like Yuki Hayashi, Yutaka Nakamura and Norimitsu Suzuki work on both, but they can’t be in two places at the same time so if they work on the movies, that’s less highs for the TV series. So the movies definitely doesn’t have an effect when it comes to freelancers joining because they can just work on whatever project, but I definitely think it’s affecting the likelihood of getting animators like Hayashi, Nakamura and Suzuki more often, and the time aspect of each season getting greenlit immediately after the next affecting how hard they can go on this series. Nowadays people think the show is looking stale, but I genuinely think something happened for it to get worse, as I can go back to episodes from seasons 1-3 and I still think they look great. Also movie 2 I think could’ve been great but the way it ended killed it for me

ANIME ONLY FAN HERE: The biggest drop for me was when season 4 rushed MBA for no reason. And the third MHA movie kinda felt lackluster compared to the 2nd one for me. The anime not being more caught up the the mangas more refined art style also is kinda of a let down. The new movie I am actually excited for even though the premise is not that flashy. But the biggest disappointment was the use of the heteromorphs characters. Though I think Vigilantes and maybe future extended universe content can allow for this franchise to thrive.

I Like my hero academia, i never liked Deku, and Deku never got interesting for me in all these years, and the sad thing is my hero academia shines in the side characters, All might is interesting, Endevor is intereasting, Kirishima, Bakugo, Eraserhed, so many human flaed and at same time heroic, but then you get to Deku... oh boy, he cryes, a lot, some heroes cry, but they stop after some arcs, Deku don't, he trains but doesen't look strong, he is slim, he doesen't develop nothing much new, he is always copying someone, but it looks worse than the original, and in the end he got new quirks, and then he loses them, so bad...

It just had a terrible act 3 compare to act 1 and act 2 the fall out was hard the story quality has dropped hard the story lost the grey part of morals and only started pushing a more comic like black and white morality made the show feel less like people and more like characters so the feels are low something the series rides on hard feelings if u don’t have feelings in the story it be boring even though the stakes are high the ending to plot points were flops the relationships between characters And inter-reactions felt rushed or dragged and the villain problem everything is just all for one fault close to everything was just him which made the world feel a lot smaller most importantly the power creep nun of it felt worth it and the lack of exploration just a bunch of great ideas with meh execution the whole act feels condensed and summarized instead of the whole thing mha had a strong beginning but a meh ending so far caught up in the manga just left a lot to be desired the first 2 acts were very slow pace story and the final act is a fast paced version with 2x as much information to continue and end off if act 3 had me chapters and a slower pace I don’t think as many people would be disappointed with the series

Before I start ranting, I just was say that I think Horikoshi and MHA have the perfect and I do mean perfect battle shounen artstyle. My only complaint is that his women are way too damn good for MHA not to be an ecchi. It's a damn travesty. Anime- I just checked out after what they did to MVA. Still haven't forgiven that. Even Joint Training, whic looked great, was a mess with the amount of padding. I watched some of season 6, but there, it looked like they shafted the first half and put everything into the second half. I don't know if it's just a bad coincidence or intentional cuz they don't care for them, but it really is crazy how both villain -centric arcs (which were also the most hyped up) just got completely shafted by the anime. Manga- For starters, I wanna say that at least for the manga, Villain Hunt's reception was a lot more mixed leaning towards negative. This is where options really started shifting and you started seeing MHA youtubers turn on the series. Really, things started kinda going south immediatey following Dabi's Dance (reminder that the Dabi reveal chapter out trended the US election) I pesonally didn't like Villain Hunt all that much, but I didn't hate it. Still whatever to me, except for the Bakugou apology and following chapters which I've only soured on. Stars and Stripes was basically filler and could be cut without affecting anything and we'd all be better off. Anime onlys are gonna gas it up for the fight, though. It is raw, but everything surrounding it is stupid. Traitor reveal was stupid and anti-climactic. Final War started shit and was shit for a good while until the Baugou "death" which got me invested only for it to be immediately turned around the next chapter. Then Hori just leaves him dead for a whole year and EVERYTHING about Bakugou's death and comeback was just pants on head r******d. That includes Bakugou taking down AFO. It just felt completely unearned and unsatisfying. Everything involving Edgeshot was just as stupid. Then there's AFO himself who was just a moron for th vast majority of the arc. Iron Might was dumb and only served to restart that stupid "Deku should've been quirkless" crap. The Todoroki drama has basically carried Act 3 and the conclusion was largely decent to me, but could've been better. Endeavor also should've been taken to task more. The actual Dabi backstory was great, though. Gentle's comeback was great. Also, school festival is one of the best and most important arcs in the series for everything it does thematically. I personally enjoyed the Ochako/Toga stuff for the most part. There are certainly bad parts and parts I don't agree with (I want Toga to rot in jail), but I did enjoy it overall. Maybe that's just because it was less bad than everything else, but I don't care enough to go back and verify. The mutant stuff...definitely happened. Hagakure cover and glitching were the absolute peakest of peak fiction. Aside from AFO just being annoying, everything else about Act 3 and especially the final arc has been largely whatever. I don't even really have an opinion on the current chapters. I'm just kinda eh. Overall, Act 3 feels like a whole lot of style over substance, but with still just enough substance to keeo me from outright dropping it.

The movies suck due to them all being canon to the story of MHA, if they were standalone films the hate wouldn't be as bad, and yeah the movies do hamper the anime production as a lot of talent is mixed up with major animators going to the movies instead of the main show due to time constraints being better managed in a movie production than the anime. The Dark Deku or the fanon name Villain Hunt, is far more decisive than you think, people either loved it or hated it, which is how all chapters/episodes have been since the end of the first war arc. I also disagree that the anime is "one of the best looking anime out there" the background art and color pallet alone makes MHA look like a late 2000's production. (Id argue that FMA Brotherhood still looks better than even current MHA despite MHA having better highs in animation wise) MHA to me lost its step since the end of PLW (first war arc) and its never recovered afterwords. The pacing is all over the place, the writing plummets to where good chapters is once every 1-2 months, the themes mean little now due to recent events, and overall its just not as engaging at it was several years ago. Liked the video tho, glad you sat down and took the time to why you still like MHA despite the issues
