What happened to my orange dark terror? Why did it die after one month.

Orange had a bad batch of fuses. I can almost guarantee you did indeed blow a fuse, but not the HT fuse on the back. The heater filament fuses which bridge the circuit for the tubes heater filaments seem to just melt after very little usage. This fuse is also responsible for the orange pilot light. I had 2 of these amps (both of which I also got in October) and it happened to both. The fuse is on the circuit board of the amp closest to the power transformer side of things. If you got a replacement, I'd still be cautious of this happening but it's nothing more than just the heater filament/pilot light fuse

Thank you. This is great info. I did get a replacement at no cost through sweetwater. However now I know what to do if it happens again. You mentioned the pilot light too. That’s spot on. I can’t thank you enough. With that said, I hope I don’t have any other issues.

Glad I found this video. Literally the same thing happened to me with the exact same amp! I had it for a little over 3 months or so? I had band practice on Saturday and it was working perfect but when I turned it on on Monday, NOTHING... No power light, no tube lights, no nothing. Im pissed. I used the 1 replacement fuse that it comes with and switch that around with the two different fuses and still nothing. No clue on what to do next. Glad I'm not the only one though.

@@larrymartins3014 No, not yet as it literally just happened to me today. The amp should still be under warranty so i'll see what I can do but hopefully it's nothing to major. I'm going to try and replace all of the fuses first? No clue what happened, I do run the amp for a few hours when my band practices but wouldn't that just be using the amp as intended...

It really is a mystery. At least it was for me. GC should replace it for you under the orange warranty. I’m curious how this shakes out. Please keep me posted if you don’t mind. Thank you and good luck!!!!

First thing I would to is to check the fuse and tubes. If its not the fuse, check if one of the tubes looks darker just like a burned bulb lamp. Good info: Orange recomends 4 min. of stand by before turning it on to extend the life of vacuum tubes.

Hey Larry. I had the DT for a little while, and I loved it. I've had all the 15 watt Oranges at one time or another. I had an issue with mine where it cut to almost no volume, but never died completely. The next day it was fine and never did it again. I had a friend of mine who has been a tech for many years take it and run every test he could think of on it and never was able to make it fail again. I sold it shortly after, and yes I informed the buyer. I liked it so much, I still think about buying another. I currently own the Rocker 15 combo and the Terror Stamp. No issues with either, and I play them all the time. I should also mention that a friend of mine owned the micro Terror, as did I, and experienced the same volume/power loss, but only one time in the year he owned it. Did you ever get the replacement?

Yes. I did get the replacement. Sweetwater was awesome. Replaced it no questions asked. I actually just got done doing some recording with the new one today. So far this one is doing well.

It’s not the outer fuse. It’s probably the inset fuse. You would need to pull the chassis. How old is the amp?
