Just a little FYI... I've been watching here lately, on your winter recoveries, throw either a tarp or an old canvas tent over engine compartment. Take advantage of the heat. No need to waste it. Did recovery for years in Wyoming. Youd be amazed at how much snow melts, then usually whatever was stuck will walk out on its own.

A lot of large semis use a shutter system in front of the radiator, I wouldn't be surprised if that snow plough, if nothing else has a similar system for the cold since it was designed specifically for these sort of conditions. With the other machinery, it could be improvised by what suggest or if this is going to be a regular thing it may be worth spending the money to automate a shutter system based on opening when engine temp goes over a certain temp plus a manual override for hot conditions where you just want ALL heat sent as far away from you AND the vehicle. So yeah, good idea.

For as much playing in the snow as you do, and with your love for surplus military vehicles, I'm kind of surprised that you haven't picked up one of the big rotary snowblowers yet! I drove one for several years for the ANG and was able to use it twice to dig out homes that got snowed in during one of our heavy snow years. I've got some pictures of us clearing the flightline and parking spots at Fairchild AFB several years ago (kind of miss those extra duties - lot of work, but lot of fun)

well its nice to recover the tools that needed to be back in the hands of the employees and personnel that needs the items they count on , leaving stuff to rotten up on a side of mountain is always with a cost to go back and get it first it time, second is weather, third is how much snow could come or mud, and is it frozen down or not, and temps is a real bad one as well could be hot or super dangerous cold. great recovery no one broken down this time and the task got done in a good time and great video so lets se some more , there always a blast to see ghost rider heading back to the snow storms

A small HEMMIT hint for winter action. Once that beast is in motion do not stop on snow. It will sink faster than the Titanic! As you have discovered it is a stinker to get free once it does. Those things would clime a tree if they can get traction. Maybe design and build a set of tracks for the axles that do not steer for winter snow work. Should help with ground pressure and traction in snow.
