This all doesn't seem fully real, there's Propaganda tactics for possible financial supportive gain, included. When people dont work, some impose a Guilt trip upon those they Target! It's important to let your partner experience their emotions without scrutiny. $12k is a significant sum of money relative to what approximately 90% of the population accumulates annually, and both Lee and Max clearly worked very hard to build their savings. Based on what I've gathered from their past videos, Lee worked a low wage job for months on end to even be able to travel in the first place. When you bust your ass for that many hours over an extended period of time only to be eventually screwed over financially... she has *every* right to experience a moment of weakness and completely break down.

We felt it important to share in the hopes that our mistakes made are avoided in future by other overlanders. Do you due diligence when selecting a shipping agent. We are still chasing the ~$4,500USD from Gaston (the cost of paying the shipping fee's the second time - directly to the right companies). We are members of an amazing community on Facebook called the 'Panamerican Travelers Association' which is a GREAT resource if you are driving anywhere in the Americas or looking into overlanding/ shipping a vehicle. I just went through the same issues, I shipped my motorcycle from Los Angeles,CA to the port of San Antonio in Chile, I signed a contract for $ 2070 and ended up paying cents short of $ 5000.- For anybody interested, if you are in the US, please check the BBB page before hiring an agent. The financial loss is only one side of the situation. Having your trust broken is an emotional recovery that can take longer to work through. Keep in perspective that the person that did these things to you is the accountable person for all of the emotional, physical and financial distress. Remember all the others through the multiple countries you traveled that were decent and trustworthy. I also wanted to say that your videography is insanely creative. I can only imagine the time filming and editing that goes into the condensed posted version. I know it's a lot of work and I appreciate you both sharing your amazing adventures and parts of your life.

Max and Lee + Occy In short, I, like so many are supper glad that the van is back where it belongs, and the family is all back together again!! With that said, the true raw emotions are real, and until anyone goes through something like this, we have no clue what it's like. The support you have received through all of us just shows there is still great kindness, and compassion in our humanity. This community keeps reassuring me what iI have been wanting to do and explore of not just my home country (USA) but, more of Europe where I was stationed for 3 years. Now to the good stuff. Can't wait to see the next adventures the 3 of you will get into. If your past videos showed us anything on your abilities to put quality videos out to watch, your wedding videos, or other videos to any clients will be just as amazing. I heard about your break up and all I can say is that the news made me sad and I wish you both all the best. I just wanted to send this message to thank you both for all of the great videos that you guys made. I looked forward to your videos every Monday morning (here in Oz) so much. I would get up early Monday morning (4.30am) just to have time to watch your video when I got to work. I loved to see your next adventure and for 20 minutes or so I was right there in the van travelling South America as well. I know that there are many other people on You Tube doing the van life thing but you guys made such great videos and both seams such genuine people. It really was the highlight of my week. I was really thrilled to hear that you were going to Europe, however that was not to be. Thank you for the joy and smiles you brought me and I really do wish you both all the best in life. I know you kinda went through a little nasty adventure, but I think like with all adventures it all has its up's and its down's and it looked awesome how you were together especially in those dark moments. What an absolute nightmare Max & Lee! So happy for your good news in the end and I can sense (& pray) that you will get most of that remaining money back. I just had an epic cluster F between private and corporate car insurance fiasco here in BC over someone that rear ended me so have been dealing with the outfall of that since Sept 27..(try doing all that with a concussion) so I can relate. Having to remain steadfast, clear and calm in the midst of the storm of companies passing the buck, documentation red tape and no follow up is enough to push anyone to their limits. Max was right about its just money but hard to see clearly when one is being ripped off as you were. Thanks for sharing the rawness and also for those of us to take note and mind 'you get what you pay for'' etc.. Occy footage was brilliant and reminded us all of the sheer joy in your pup and what he has bought to your life and your channel. Do please let us see any T-shirt's or designs you have coming up so we can support and be Occy fans too :) And to Max; our hearts go out to your homeland and it's devastation as pure evidence of our worlds climate change disasters playing out before our eyes. Really puts things into perspective.. regarding our vans and cars, accidents etc... what is and is not important. What each of us can do to lessen the impact on global warming. Much food for thought. I appreciate you posting such raw footage. Perhaps max was a bit nervous to post that “it’s only money Lee” comment so props for the vulnerability And showing that imperfect footage. You must have been so worried about Lee and wanted her to feel better. It can be difficult to just sit in those emotions with someone and not try to make things better. It was obvious that she felt invalidated and I’m sure you learned from that moment. My husband struggles with this too. He just wants me to feel better immediately and nearly goes into panic mode when I am upset.

I feel for your situation. You are correct. It is only money...a bad business transaction and experience. Based on what I am hearing, you guys have the money. I am sitting here thinking, "Wow. What if they didn't have that kind of money? Would their van just be conficated/impounded and you never get to see it again?" I was just laid off by a warehouse company who took customer's money for more than 2 months and didn't pay any vendors/suppliers/services. They owed two landlords more than $300,000 EACH!! They didn't declare bankruptcy, they just went out of business and locked the doors. There was no money to pay anyone. I felt sick that so many people and companies who had given such great service to the company got so badly screwed. But I will tell you this: in over 50 years, I've only encountered 2 bad apples in business. If you let bad apples poison your openness, trust, and love, it doesn't hurt them. It hurts you!! Of all the story, I was most upset that Lee blamed herself. You trusted, just like you've trusted every day since this adventure began! Your huge trusting, loving hearts are why your viewers love you!! Forgive Gaston, wish him well in the future and don't tangle your karma with Gaston's on another negative thought towards him! Keep open, keep trusting, and blessings to you both! So much love...

Damn shame this is the last time we see you. Not sure if the stress involved caused the two of you to separate, but obviously something went wrong. You can see in Lee's face that she is done. Perhaps Max's as well. Lee says her dad helped get the van home so the end for you must of came in l.a. I'm so heartbroken, I've been with you since the beginning of this journey. I honestly believe something broke in South America. When you needed that break. It was over then we just didn't know it, but perhaps you didn't either. What an ordeal you've been through! I'm glad it's mostly over now and that the worst of the money issues have been downgraded. Lee, your hurt, tears and frustration are more justified. Been there on three occasions. Very, very painful events. Looking back on my experience with such a traumatic events, I learned from them and it made me stronger. And, in my 63 years of living, I had three of these kind of earth-shattering, emotional, traumatic (disappointed in human beings) events. In retrospect, they made me wiser and I've made better decisions on a host of other events/interactions with others in my life. What does not kill you will only make you stronger.
