Raymond had one of the best voices of any actor. Deep and rich for sure, but with so much sincerity and feeling and color, if you will. His radio work was unsurpassed. He could paint pictures in your mind through the radio and make you feel like you were there.

One of the most incredible actors ever. Perry Mason is the best TV series of all time in my opinion. Amazing. There is absolutely no one in Hollywood today that could possibly memorize 75-80 pages of legalese dialog for one show like he did. Never a flub in almost 300 episodes over 10 seasons from 1958 to 1967. Ive been watching since 1965 and two times daily for the last 4 years since metv has been running it. Great cast of characters. No special effects, just superb writing acting and drama

I graduated from Colorado University at Denver, in May of 1993; Raymond was our Commencement speaker(!!). His role in "Please Murder Me" against Angela Lansbury was dark, and eerie.

I have also purchased several items with Burr's signature. One was on a restaurant receipt. Another was from the Hollywood "commissary" where they filmed Perry Mason. I bought photo of "Perry and Della" signed by Burr and Barbara Hale. I have also seen the old grave marker that was on the Burr gravesite before his sister Geraldine died. The original was metal and flush with the ground. I like the new marble headstone very much. Thank you for your nice post.

@@jcvancouver Thank you for writing to me! I don't ever mean to brag about my Raymond Burr memorabilia, it is just that I am so excited about it. But here is my biggest heartache: I live on the Central Coast of California. Think Monterey and Carmel. I am roughly 4 hours from the famous Napa Valley vineyards. (Of course NOT NOW with all the fires consuming so much). Anyway, RB and his friend Robert Benavides, lived up there, around Geyserville, where they grew grapes and orchids. After RB passed away, dying at his vineyard, his friend began to bottle Raymond Burr wine. My cousin, who lives in Sacramento, told me I would LOVE the vineyard, not even so much for the wine, but there they displayed MANY items of RB, his Emmys and Oscar, and zillions of photos not seen usually. So two years ago, I finally went up there, AND HIS VINEYARD HAD BEEN SOLD. I cried like a baby. The only thing of his still there was a robin's egg blue convertible car still for sale. I don't know where his partner moved to, or if RB's items are being displayed somewhere else. I am VERY sad I didn't make it up there in time to buy some wine and oooh and aaah over his treasures!

@@jcvancouver Oh my goodness! That is a gift to have your dreams actualizing the next day...(unless you see dead bodies...LOL... :( RB's car is a Ford Thunderbird, the great vintage car with a round window in the hardtop, and a white canvas-like soft-top. My brother, who can actually wear the RB shirt I gave him (tailored by "Anton of Beverly Hills" with 'Raymond Burr' sewn in the collar with the date.) thinks that Mr. Burr would have had a hard time fitting in the Thunderbird due to his size. My brother said that he himself probably couldn't fit into it comfortably. Who knows?!?! Please dream that we may find out where RB's memorabilia is now! Thanks, Roxie

Beautiful tribute...I am touched. I totally dig Ironside & Perry Mason. I remember when Ironside was showing on MeTv back in 2012 weekdays @ 11 o'clock am, and when it was shown @ 12 o'clock midnight on Saturdays on MeTv. I miss watching Ironside. Occasionally, I would watch Raymond on Perry Mason also on MeTv @ 9 o'clock am and 11 o'clock pm on MeTv. RIP legendary actor Raymond Burr...

@@jcvancouver : MY pleasure Jean. I always try to watch Ironside or Perry Mason whenever I get a chance; as a matter of fact I saved 3 episodes of Perry Mason from the late '80's and early '90's - when Raymond made a guest return as a clever attorney.

Raymond was the most honest and truthful person I have ever met. He was 100% heterosexual, and his marriages were NOT fabricated. I have the same surname as his deceased wife and when Robert Benevides called me 'Sullivan', Raymond immediately corrected him saying, 'Sutherland! I am VERY familiar with the name Sutherland', and for a moment he went quiet and I could see the pain in his eyes. Robert Benevides addressed Raymond as 'Sir'. It was a father son relationship, nothing more, although clearly Robert Benavides is gay and loved Raymond. Raymond WAS Ironside and Perry. A man of extraordinary integrity and Christian faith. The light of God literally shone brightly in him.

Only once other than my mom have I ever saw the name Minerva. Watch Perry Mason twice a day. Love the older tv shows.
