I always had the idea that one of the primarchs rejected his father’s call to crusade and is thus one of the wiped legions. And now with subject 11 I have a theory that he’s dangerous enough to be a problem to the imperium. And the only possible way to resist a emporer class psycher would be a primarch level blank.

Seeing in other lore how sisters of silence are near invisible to even space marines (Kharn is able to kill one during the siege of Terra but doesn’t see her/remember striking her down). If one or both of the lost primarchs were a blank it could help explain why there is so little information about them. I would find it funny that a 9’ tall man could walk down the street and go unnoticed but there is relevance with how other nulls/blanks are portrayed in the setting. If we go by the theory that the primarchs were created with minor warp gods as their souls, then would one or both of these primarchs be soulless? Majorkill makes a point along this line that reborn primarchs (Ferrus’ clone) without their god soul plot armor were a lot weaker or easier to kill than ‘original’ primarchs, could one of the blank primarchs simply have been killed by the Xeno because he didn’t have the plot armor of a warp god for a soul, and then lost to history by all but the most powerful of humans who could barley even perceive his existence?
@thatonegreenguy2842 Жыл бұрын
@@petercaballero4880 Following up with this idea though I think it could work. Null/Blanks are supposedly almost invisible to others due to their soullessness, and one of the Primarchs is the Forgotten. Second to add with this theory is that the presence of Nulls/Blanks is harmful to powerful warp entities. Dorn briefly has his memory of the lost restored to him by Malchador, and almost immediately asks him to forget again, a Primarch Null/Blank in that instance literally harming the warp god souls of his brother Primarchs any time they were near enough together could have been enough reason to quietly disappear him. Without the soul he wouldn’t have been very powerful compared to the others and he could have resisted the big E’s designs, or been simply killed in the fighting due to not having the soul.

That’s actually the basis of my homebrew 11th primarch. He is a super pariah that needs special armor to contain his aura(like a culexus assassin but x100) and landed on a partially operational dyson sphere and was raised by an ancient AI, and was pretty chill with Xenos. He was never actually wiped out in my headcannon, or in my homebrew lore I’ve been writing for a while. He’s in the dark cells as “subject 11” and was placed there by the emperor as a contingency against chaos. If he was turned to a black pariah, he’d be the most dangerous enemy of the emperor in existence, but if he’s an ace in the hole, he can be brought back into play later. The 11th(in my homebrew his name is Draazen) was fully aware of chaos, and the emperors plan. In my homebrew/fanfic he’s actually the subject of the terminus decree. Awaken him and have him shit down the golden throne and stabilize the talisman of 7 hammers, allowing for the emperor to ascend as a warp entity rather than be completely destroyed.

My personal headcannon is that the 11th Legion had a genetic flaw of some kind - they are who Sanguinius referenced to Horus when he killed his own Astartes who had gone nuts. And that the Rangdan were NOT Xeno's, but were humans who had fully embraced Genetic modification to the point where they were essentially Xeno's. (If you've read the Hyperion Cantos, I see them as essentially the Ousters) Through genetic modification, the Rangdan were able to "cure" the 11th of this flaw in the Astartes, but the Primarch was another matter entirely. Most of the 11th was unaware of what was happening to them, so when the time came for the Emperor to judge the Legion, it was very possible to integrate most of the surviving 11th in with the Yellow and Blue Smurfs. (The 11th is currently under the palace in the Dark Cells, though whether he's alive or not is currently irrelevant) (there's a lot more to this headcannon, but it involves the 2nd, who was effectively immune to the supernatural Charisma of the Emperor and decided that the Rangdan were a better choice for Humanity than the Emperor and defecting (though not with his Legion... who did not have the same feeling of loyalty to their Primarch as every other Astartes has to their primarch, even the World Eaters had more connection to Angron than the 2nd did to their Primarch. So some followed, some didn't.), convincing the 11th to join him to save his Legion, then to protect his Plan, the Emperor had to utterly annihilate the Rangdan AND taint their legacy, hence them becoming "Xenos".)

I think there names are more important, the Forgotten and the Purged. Names in 40k are very important and these revel in my mind part of there fates. I believe whole hearty that the Forgotten is the 11th stored on terra in the prison that the custodes guard, and has been for the most part Forgotten but not out rightly killed a part of him still lives on. I believe the 11th was corrupted during the xenocide of the Rangdan which explains why those 3 wars where such a mess but the 11th was taken by the emperor to be fixed while his legions where split up, he was then Forgotten due to the heresy and was never fixed. Yet never purged. While the second who more then likely fought against the Rangdan still remembered what happened to the 11th and I feel rebelled against the emperor, as if there is one crime that would see the emperor purge you it is not failing that is merely at worst death, to be purged meant to be erased from history would suggest rebellion as only a crime of such magnitude would see old big E do that. To challenge the emperor openly is that crime. Now I dont now what wipes out the second, could be the space wolves, the void dragon, or something else, but would be more interesting if they just left, if the 2nd with most of the legion just left and where erased from the records because they just said screw this im out. Now the skulls that Malcador the hero has that have the numbers II and XI are clearly fake there regular human sized for god sake, but that could be part of the cover up to say both died when the truth could be far from that. Now is this wrong? Most likely but hey it sounds fun.

Another guy on here proposes the idea that one of the lost primarchs could have been null/blank and thus able to resist big E when he came calling. Going with your idea about the names, would the forgotten primarch fit that bill? Almost unknown, unseen and unrecognizable? I follow this up with the theory that the primarchs were made with the souls of minor warp gods (hence why they have so much plot armor), Majorkill posits in a video that cloned primarchs were a lot weaker than their original counterparts potentially due to the fact they no longer had the warp god soul within to give them that boost. (And that they could be fully reborn as Malchador said they could revive Ferrus if given time). The Forgotten in that case, could have been a Null/Blank thus soulless (needing to be ‘fixed’ by big E but couldn’t be after big E screwed the deal with Chaos), almost impossible to remember by all but the most powerful of humans/psychers, and resistant or potentially opposed to the big E’s plans. If that was the case I could see how the lost primarchs could have been erased by the big E as they didn’t have the soul to bend reality to their needs, were null so almost invisible to the most powerful (when he needed giant gods to project his image of power for the crusade), resistant or immune to the big E’s psychic power and potentially even harmful to the other Primarchs (When Dorn has his memory restored briefly of them by Malchador he begs almost immediately to forget again, could their null presence have been harmful to the powerful souls of the other primarchs?)
@alexanderthegreat6682 Жыл бұрын
I think it was almost the reverse, where the 2nd left or were destroyed by a mistake on the part of the Emperor Himself. Now we can't have that in the Imperium so Big E decided to cover the whole thing up, thus, the 2nd became the Forgotten. Later, the 11th somehow find out about this. They see Big E's Big L, and interpret what happened to the 2nd as a betrayal by the Emperor. They are so enraged that they openly challenge the Emperor on this and threaten to expose his secrets, essentially blackmailing him. Of course this backfired and Emps led the Custodes and the other 18 Legions to purge them from history.

my own head cannon is one of the primarchs was told about the dangers of the warp and in being told and through whatever event, was lead down the path of chaos and being wiped out, this sparking the emperor to not make the same mistake he did with the other primarchs, therefore explaining why he never told his other sons about the dangers of the warp which is arguably one of his greatest failings

Not really 11th legion related but in "Lion: Son of the Forest" one of the Risen named Zabriel gives a little excerpt about the Rangdan Xenocides. He says "I fought the Rangda at Advex-Moores and hunted their squalling remnants through the corridors of their ravaged War-moon with my brothers." I have absolutely no basis for this theory however the use of the word "squalling" and the fact that they made a "War-Moon" makes me think that they're Space Skaven. Maybe its because they're my favorite race in fantasy but if you consider the size of their under-empire in fantasy and translate that to a galactic scale then it would makes some sense. Part of me likes it because it brings Skaven into 40k in a way another part of me likes it because its funny that they were the biggest threat humanity has ever faced. A war moon sounds exactly like some bullshit that those smelly little bastards would come up with. I think there are a couple other references to the Rangda in the book and I think of one them calls them "Tunnels" rather than "Corridors" but I could be wrong.

What if...these two legions were originally ran by these other two triplet primarchs but Alpharius helped them stage a fake rebellion or coup to better hide all 3 of their ultimate intentions. There's some basis for that in real-world religious practices- The Greeks would avoid invoking Hades or Persephone by name whenever possible, because they did _not_ want the attention of the Lord of the Dead and the Queen of the Underworld. While those two were no more malicious than any of the other gods (which is an astonishingly low bar, the Greek Gods were assholes), and even _less_ of a problem than, say, Ares, the Greeks were nonetheless scared shitless of them both, and it was considered a _very_ bad idea to be on their radar at all. So Daemons being absolutely unwilling to do anything that might draw the eye of Malice is plenty reasonable.

Have these two primach ever been found? Did they die before all the other were cast away? In Imperium Secondus Guilliman speaks of the two missing „brother“ as if he is sure they have lived.

What ever deal that was made with warp entities for "The Lost Legion" (Legion of the Damned?) to exist perhaps their Primarch is kept in the bowls of Terra or Titan imprisoned. I wonder if Draigo will find them and set them loose somehow. "The Forgotten Legion" must have been some abomination with mixed Xenos genetics perhaps or function like the Tau as part of a consortium in a mutual defence pact. It doesn't seem egregious enough, maybe some kind of alien/human hybrid, that would fit the bill. Maybe they became host to mind control creatures or psychopathic cannibals or a combination of all of the above.

I just think those Primarchs in particular refused the Emperor entirely upon their discovery and may have even tried to get their respective legions to turn as well forcing their prompt and swift destruction. It could be they were highly resistant to his charms and will, or that they were too independent and perhaps already forming their own empires. Without a Primarch to lead them the remaining marines, who were loyal, were given over to the Primarchs that best suited them, or would best handle them.

Wilfred may and Faraz Ahmad had great ideas about the lost Primarchs that I think could solve the mystery. Going from their names, the Purged and the Forgotten we may be able to understand what happened. In my new head cannon the Purged could have simply rejected the Emperor upon his discovery, siding with whatever human or Xeno society had discovered him, and fighting until he was destroyed and dishonored. I cite when Horus attempts to mention the name of one of the lost primarchs (to my knowledge this is the only hint we have at a name for ONE of the lost primarchs) and Malchador tries to psychic choke him to death. Malchador could probably see the writing on the wall after Horus attempts to mention the lost primarch, probably the first to have resisted/rebelled against the Emperor, already laying the path for the Heresy and Horus to follow. As for the forgotten I saw Faraz mention the idea of one of the lost being a Null/Blank As I stated under his comment, Nulls/Blanks are near invisible to others (Kharn kills a sister of silence but does not see her nor remember striking her down as he does so), wouldn’t a ‘forgotten’ Primarch fit that bill? To further this argument, we have the theory that the big E had to strike a deal with Chaos to obtain minor warp god souls to imbue into the primarchs. If one of the lost was a Blank, soulless, could he have been harmful to the other primarchs or even big E just to be around? Dorn demanded to be reminded of what the lost were like by Malchador and almost immediately begs to forget again, could his null presence have harmed even his brother primarchs with their powerful souls? We only have Chaos’ side of the story about their deal with big E but knowing how Chaos works is it a stretch to assume they’d try to screw the big E on the deal first by not providing enough souls for all the primarchs? (Alpharius/Omegron exists so what else could have happened?) Or could he have been forgotten even to Chaos and the universe itself, blank/null by chance and unseen/unkown by almost all thus forgotten to the Imperium. To surmise, I believe that the Purged Primarch could have simply rejected the Emperor upon his discovery, hence being destroyed (By Leman Russ?) and dishonored. Whereas the Forgotten Primarch could have been a Null/Blank, without a warp god soul he was already weaker than the others, and almost invisible to all. Potentially he died in honor fighting for the Imperium, but his status as a blank made him harmful to his brothers and unknown to almost all.

I have a theory for what happened to the 11th primarch, its not my theory so I won’t go deep on the details. The Rangdan Xenocides was a bad time for the Imperium. This war against a powerful and uncompromising opponent was a big strain on Imperial resources. Time, muntions, lives all expended just to maintain an unstable stalemate. People, from the lowest laborer to the highest figures of authority, started to lose hope of ever winning the war, of ever securing the galaxy under a Human rule. The 11th Primarch, desperate, searched everywhere for someway or somepath to gain victory at any price. Now this sounds like the ideal stage for some Chaos daemon to step up to the Primarch and scam him and take his soul. But that did not happen. Before the daemon could get close enough to make its offer, the Primarch look inwards. He delved his mind into realm of the subconscious, the place of internal secrets and repressed ideas. At a different time and under less stressful circumstances, he would have turned away and fled into the false promises of Chaos. He instead went deeper, dug underneath the blocks that restrain and protect to find the answer he somehow knew was there. And he did find it and it unmade him. It was something embarrassing, repulsive, unsightly, barbaric, unsettling but worse than anything else it completed him. It filled the gaps of his identity, it provided certainty to his doubts. This was his true nature. He accepted it, He embraced it and when he returned to reality, he made it real and, whether from a stance sheer pragmatism or a noble conviction to fulfill his duty, he would use it defeat the enemy.

Lexicanum has every time the 2nd and 11th are mentioned, interesting stuff. 2nd was known to be very quiet, Fulgrim called him his "quiet brother" which is neat. I agree there is a bunch of evidence that the Yellow & Blue boys did absorb the marines of the 2nd and 11th as right after the Xenocides their numbers went through the roof. As for what happened to the primarchs themselves Supposedly one of them was destined to be the greatest/most heroic of the primarchs but that destiny was cut short, I assume they mean the 11th not the 2nd as he was the quiet one. Given chaos is a thing it is an easy answer to say "chaos did it" but that wouldnt explain why the Horus Heresy primarchs are not erased from memory (though this can be explained by big E being disabled at this time). Worse than chaos I think that they probably got infected by the Rangdan and turned against humanity by them or something along those lines. The Emperor knew about chaos during this era and the screwed up atuff it could pull, but givinng yourself to just some random alien that isn't even "The Great Enemy" would be rather shameful. Still I am not super sure about this theory as even that doesn't seem worse than the Horus Heresy.

I really enjoy the Sons of Malice idea, just because I really like Malice as a concept but - I have my own crack pot idea. So, Tyranids am I right? Hang with me, Genestealers am I right? Alright, so we know that Tyranids use Genestealers as a way of internal destruction and guidance, a homing beacon for a world that is suitable for consumption by the Swarms. But, Tyranids won't appear for another several thousand years you say. Correction, Tyranids won't be known for another thousand years - remember Tyranids did not come from the Milky Way Galaxy and, as previously stated, they use Genestealers as a way of easily finding planets with biomass since Genestealers aren't only Human based creatures but can in fact infect a variety of alien creatures, most likely anything with a biological structure. So, Tyranids send out the Genestealer impregnators, the things that introduce Tyranid DNA to a host, ahead of the swarms in order to find suitable planets for consumption. Imagine if they just so happened to land on the planet where the 2nd/11th Primarch crash landed and infected the Primarch. Now you may be asking "Doesn't Genestealer augmentation happen through generations of the initial host?" well, correct you are but - considering that every Primarch is in some way or another connected to the Warp as the Tyranids are and that Primarchs can have any number of weird abilities AND Primarchs are known for rapidly adapting to life on other planets which change their geneseeds, I view it as possible. Take Russ for example, he clearly didn't pop out of his gestation pod with fur or animal teeth; Vulkan probably didn't pop out with obsidian skin and red glowing eyes. So, who's to say that this Primarch that was infected by a Genestealer did not radically adapt in a similar way into a beefed out Primarch Bug? It gets better because obviously these changes are gradual. Fast forward to Big E finding the infect Primarch and taking them away to join their legion and the great crusade. The legion is thus far pretty normal because they were made with the implanted geneseed of their Primarch before he was infected with Genestealers. This being said, the combination of the Genestealer virus and the Primarchs natural attunement to the Warp would link the infected Primarch with the Hive Mind of the Tyranids which tell him to do what it tells regular Genestealers to do, repopulate. Obviously this is when the changes with the Primarch's body starts taking place and this is when he starts giving new legion brothers his infected geneseed which also mutates them into Genestealers. Long story short, Big E catches wind of what's going on and sends Russ to kill the infected Primarch and those who were infected within his legion, the uninfected will just be moved to other legions and forced not to ever tell the true tale. I freaking love this idea and though it may not make any sense, I can't get the concept of a Genestealer Primarch out of my head.

malice always made sense to me because when something is called chaos you would expect unpredictable violence and unheard horrors, however the gods we have seem to hold quite a lot of rules and set goals which goes against the very term of chaos which is just destruction for the sake of destruction

i think a fructure of malice or his whole being was used to create one of the primarchs. Thus making the primarch too powerful and dangerous(literally a mortal reincarnation of destruction and chaos) so the emperor locked him up. With this the abscence of malice could be explained? also pretty exciting lore and stories to further build this.

Yeah it's Def a simple and ingenious way to handle most plot holes or gaps because it just allows them to say "the reader and the characters they are reading about simply either don't have the information or it is being withheld from them". They basically give you several events that went unrecorded or what was recorded has almost bo details, so it can be used as a possible answer to other mysteries. Got a lost Legion that no one remembers? Maybe it was the xenocides What happened to their primarch? Maybe it was the xenocides Why doesn't anyone remember? Maybe it was the xenocides. You can use it to virtually answer anything as long as the timeline fits

One of the "lies" told by the Alpha legion around the discovery of their Primarch, was that Alpharius was mind tourtured by the hrud during the rangdan xenocides, and was sent back to Terra to be healed by the emperor, the Alpha legion don't often outright lie as it's easy to spot, they usually deal in half truths, right story wrong primarch, but big E didn't get enought time to do this before Magnus forced him into the golden throne for the rest of eternity

My headcannon version... The 2nd and 11th Primarchs (and the majority of their Legions) were disappeared because one of them got taken over and/or "turned" by some foul xenos (Rangdan, Khrave, whatever) and the other one got tired of slaughtering Humans who "just wanted to be left alone" and eventually refused to fight anymore. ...not that anyone cares.

I have a head canon that the Blood ravens could be a successor 2nd Legion chapter and not a 1000 sons loyalists as all their tests come up negative (even though the Minotaurs are a loyalists iron warriors successor and make it no secret to the inquisition) and that is running headlong against community consensus and hints that GW approved of in games featuring the bloody magpies 😋
@robertwareham8466 Жыл бұрын
I kinda feel that the 11th and 2nd legions need a specific reason for all their records to be expunged. Having a legion be wiped out or fall to chaos isn't a good enough reason for the records to be expunged, simply because the Horus Heresy happened and all those legions that rebelled and fell to chaos didn't have their records expunged. I have a theory that 2 or 11 (or both) discovered some kind of infohazard that meant their records HAD to be expunged in order to stop the spread of the infohazard. Whether that's chaos or xenos related is entirely possible, but it could easily be related to neither. Who knows? Perhaps the 11th primarch discovered the true nature of their reality: that they only exist as lore and/or models in a 20th/21st century tabletop wargame and they're doomed to be trapped in that reality for the rest of eternity.
@BluestTable9 ай бұрын
Tbf there was no hiding the horus heresy with how devastating it was, and emps + malcador werent there to enforce that
@robertwareham84669 ай бұрын
@@BluestTable Fair point, but there's nothing to stop the Imperium expunging the records of the traitors some time after the heresy. Most of the Imperium in 40k times don't even know the heresy happened, beyond myths and stories about monsters and ghouls and such. The general populace certainly wouldn't know that half of their heroic space marine legions turned traitor. And the point of the expunging is that the knowledge is even kept from the people normally in the know, the high ups in Imperial society, the rulers and the high administrators. I'd even be willing to bet that most, if not all, of the current high lords have no idea that there were two more legions that just... vanished. The Primarchs themselves were forbidden from talking about them, so it's unlikely any of their underlings know anything about it, these days. Besides, if the heresy was of even greater magnitude than whatever event disappeared 2 and 11, then once it's happened what's the point in keeping the secrecy about a previous, more minor heresy? I'm not just speculating from an in universe perspective, but also from the point of view of the people in charge of writing the stories set in the universe. From their point of view, its worth keeping the intrigue going because readers love a mystery, but at the same time, they need to have justifiable reasons in-universe to keep the truth from everyone.

My gametheory is that Tyberos is a lost primarch due to his shear girth. There’s a connection to the RG and the exiled group, but I think he’s using it as a guise. The legions were wiped from imperial record for a reason.

Honestly I like the idea. Maybe what happened is the 2nd and 11th both went to fight in the Hrud war. Maybe the 2nd was horribly aged by the Hrud and was the one taken back to Terra, locked away till his form could be repaired while the 11th fell to Malice, becoming disillusioned with the imperium and supporting the Hrud/Malice which made the war last significantly longer. Both had to be covered up as the emperor tried to hide chaos corruption while the other turning to an old man would be a huge hit to morale. Then uh say the 11th was killed before he could ever ascend to daemon prince status? Idk
