You can write off the affordable price on the F9. You can price out any one of their existing models currently offered and none of them can be built for under 50 grand when options are applied to any of them. The F9 will be an 80 grand investment you must assemble.

I would also add to the delay of this car the huge global economic downturn. I would bet this might really be the biggest reason for the delay. Especially considering how long this car has been in a holding pattern.

Dudes a perfectionist, an artist. Can’t blame the man. I’m sure when it’s done it will kick ass. Functional and performance often overlap in the looks department for a good selling car. Hard to do as looks often are sacrificed for performance. Front looks like a Ferrari. Needs work I agree. Ass is nice.

I don't know about the V12 man. Twin turbo V8 can get you the horsepower and the space needed for a more aerodynamic nose. I also hope they have some plans for a AWD version. That would be awesome and a first for a kit car.

I met a guy building a Factory Five MK4 Cobra. He said he actually visited Factory Five before purchase. I asked him the same question, what happened to the F9, especially the fact they've released already released the F-150 full replacement Raptor suspension. He said the nose is the problem. More specifically he said FF told him the engine sat too far rearward and was basically unserviceable. Side note - Factory Five is doing away with the GTM?!?! NOOOO!!!

Too expensive to build. Was lower cost BITD when you could get your hands on a transaxle for a reasonable price. Not anymore and the fiberglass work required is intense. Lastly, the design is decades old. Time for a new car.

@@danpolk You can get a g96.01 for between 3 and 4 grand. The real problem with the GTM was it needed too much work to get right. Terrible body and door fitment had FFR on the phone lying to them telling them they couldn't help the fact the damn doors don't fit and the body is asymmetrical.

The GTM was meant to be the mid-engined Corvette that Chevrolet wouldn't build. Chevrolet builds it now.😊

I don't really care that they discontinued the gtm especially since the rcr40 is better in every way. But I am disappointed by the mid front engine design. I'm a looks guy, I can get speed by ripping the body off and driving naked. I want a car that looks GOOD and UNIQUE.

Curious why they don't re-release the GTM for a last run of kits as an interim measure. Maybe with a subtle change to something like lights or spoiler to differentiate it from the original design.

Sadly, if they go with the full carbon body and other things I have read are rumored like the massive Aussie V12, this is essentially a $150-200k component car when completed. It will have to have extraordinary performance to warrant the expense and effort required to park one in the garage at that price. About the same price as a used 612 or Huracan. Most people with the kind of money to build an F9 may just decide to write a check for the Ferrari or similar and enjoy it the first day.

@@danielanthony1054 I'm sure it will take the V8, but many will opt for the V12. I'm sure somebody has put the base 1980's 220 hp Mustang 5.0L in their new build FFR Cobra, but they are the exception.

I agree. I love the idea, looks like a cool car, and if it were reasonably cost effective, I would be interested. But let's be real here - to really build a '33 Hot Rod you're looking at $40k+ not including labor (I have one, was way more than 40k in kit, upgrades, engine, transmission, paint, wheels, etc.). The F9, if fully CF, is going to be a $50k+ kit, plus drivetrain, paint, etc - easily 6 figures on the extreme low end. With the C8 now being mid engine and coming in well under that already complete, they would be pricing themselves out of the market. Now if they do a fiberglass kit priced in line with their Daytona Coupe - it would be a lot more viable. Maybe the F9 will be fiberglass, the F9r will be CF... But having firsthand experience with the 'quality' of their fiberglass bodies - I would be very wary of a CF version.

I have a FFR MK1 that I bought as a kit from them in 1998 so my interest in the company goes back a long way. I have seen the F9 on 2 occasions and it is really cool looking but I feel like it is missing something. It just doesn't feel completed yet and it could be the front end like Dave Smith the owner alluded to in the video. Only real racers would care about the downforce on the front end but for me it was aesthetics. The car is cool but it is lacking the WOW factor in my opinion and the rear end is very busy. I hope they do get to the point of selling these because it would be really cool to see some come to the 2025 Open House cruise in.

The main big problem with super sport cars is that they do represent a poker session for the manufacturer, it can go well (only in few occasions) and it can go very bad (in most occasions). When you build a so radical car you need a very big audience and your car should be advertised as much as possible. An example is the DMC-12 Delorean fall. You can make a very interesting and fashinating car you need to convince the public.

What would make much more sense to me is smaller, lighter and more affordable car with a modern 4-banger, like the BMW B48, in it. The B48 will easily make 300HP and mated to a light chassis, it would be fun and fast. But keep it simple, fcs.

If front emd take wind and turn inertia accelerator to help propel forward with emgine output too. Like airplane if we take wnind inlet do the work of building up thrust it can be magical
