Star wars Galaixes is a prime example. I love it..played the crap out of it. It had a future. Then they ruin the game with those 2 huge updates to make it EASIER for console players to play. That killed the game. Playerbase left. They weren't making any money. Servers get shut down. That game you PAID REAL MONEY FOR....is now useless because the company that made it said so. BULLSHIT ! Some of the content is not even on that particular streaming service, some are region locked, and some of the shows disappear like its nothing. I've been torrenting for over 7 years and I have to say it helped me a lot. There’s always new movies, Tv series, documentaries, games, softwares, books, online courses and pretty much everything. It doesn’t feel like pirating or illegal infact it never felt that way. It’s just people sharing things. I myself was a good uploader and contributor on a few torrent sites and it's fun. With a dedicated IP you can have advantage and have access to more necessary contents.

@@alexk9295 There are many advantages of didicated ip. You can host your server, ftp also you'll experience a faster site loading.Dedicated ip is unique since it doesn't change. In torrenting Dedicated/real ip is hugely valued. Almost every torrent users have shared ip and only a few with dedicated IP contributes the most. Shared IP to Shared IP peer doesn't connect. There has to be a atleast one dedicated ip peer for every torrent download. If you have a dedicated ip your torrenting will he faster, you'll be able to download many torrents with few shared IP seeders. Also whatever you download will act like a host server and other shared ip peers can download from your PC. There is a little disadvantage having a dedicated ip. Since your IP is static the chances of getting hacked increases.

To be honest going after seeders is futile effort. Maybe that worked in dystopian US, but outside of US it was never realistic to go after seeders, there were few test cases where they tried (there was big one when W10 launched), but it was never big issue for seeders. Besides as soon as they tried that, there were explosion of applications which don't even show IP addresses, or mask them, so it became nearly impossible to trace where the seeder is. This is even more true considering that most of people now have dynamic IP addresses meaning that by the time copyright holder collects the data and sends it to ISP, the IP would have changed many many times over. Not to mention that IP in the torrent clients is very inaccurate at best of times and could be shared by many people, multiple household, public access points etc. There was some time when larger national ISPs deprioritised torrent ports, but soon people simply switched to ISPs without bandwidth management clauses and ISPs realised it achieves nothing except losing them clients and these have disappeared. Been using torrents since like 2014 and never bothered with VPN, nor ever had any issues with my ISP.

For the record having a Dynamic IP does not protect you. Most ISP's since for like ever have had Dynamic IP's. If a copyright holder needs to know who used that IP at a certain date and time all they have to do is contact the ISP. and have them look in their records. IP's are not as random as people think. Each ISP owns blocks of IP addresses, its very easy to look up what service provider owns what IP. Here in the US ISP's generally just forward the stop pirating letter from the copyright holders. They are required to do this in order to keep Safe Harbor protections (they cant be held legally liable). In some rare cases they might subpoena for the customers info. However it's generally hard to fight these cases in US court, so much so that criminal charges rarely happen. Though they did get a major win against Cox communications for a large sum of money, claiming Cox didn't do enough to stop copyright infringement. But thats why now everyone uses a VPN.

Here in the dystopian USA, even with dynamic IP addresses I've had my ISP give me a warning for downloading a copyrighted work, so the ISPs must keep a log of user connected to any dynamic IP address at any given time. Hence I switched to using a VPN when downloading, and the problem went away.

Yeah no sorry but you’re wrong. You can easily see the IP of everyone you are connected to. ISPs are legally required to keep records on who was using a given IP at what time, so the prosecutors send the IP along with recorded time. You can’t hide your real IP without smuggling your traffic through a different network, and that’s exactly what VPNs do. From personal experience: My ISP forwarded me a scare letter from a copyright prosecutor. It didn’t have much consequence, but it shows that you were just lucky thus far. Or perhaps some small ISPs in less wealthy countries don’t care about infringement either. But don’t think you’re safe unless you’re using protection.

When I was a child, my family was pretty poor. We barely had enough for food and my father was struggling to keep things together as a single parent. It was so bad that we didn't even had Christmas, my father would say our presents was him paying our phone bill, which were these prepaid minute phones we were not allowed to use expect for emergencies. So as a kid I learn how to use torrent to play games my friends were able to get. Allowing me to stay in the loop and not being so pitiful. Pirating is bad and overall a huge loss of revenue for the people that worked so hard to create these things we enjoy. But it did gave me a chance to escape from reality by enjoying games and movies I thought I would never experience. What am I today? Well, I got more into computers and now have years of experience working with them with other businesses, friends, and personal equipment. I am more well off and enjoy what I do, not needing to pirate anymore.

Piracy was an essential part of my upbringing, especially through torrents. Being born in a post-communist country, you can imagine that nobody, on a personal level, could legally buy licenses of Office, Windows and other software, much less games and other stuff. They were simply too expensive, and even buying a PC required taking out a loan most of the times. Through a loan I purchased my first PC. We can debate the moral implications of piracy all day, but the fact remains that without it, information and services would have not been available to a large amount of the world population. Piracy was one of the main driving factors in my country's development of the IT industry. Our former president even credited piracy in front of Bill Gates himself back in the mid 2000s.

Hell, some of the greatest designers and photo editors I know all started with pirated PhotoShop. My parents weren't really like that, I mean they would not call me a moron for playing or wanting to buy a game. But those were times when you couldn't find physical games to buy here because the market was shaped based on the purchasing power and the needs of the people. The vast majority simply could not afford the money to buy a game, as such shops did not have them for sale. You had to import them, and that made them even more expensive. I use Torrents all the time. I think most people in the Open Source community do. I am sure that FTP has been used for some illegal data sharing over the years, but that does not mean that there is something wrong with FTP (except that it's a terrible protocol). In older days, video tape was used to share videos within criminal circles such as paedophiles, but we did not blame the VCR or stop using it. Torrents are a great way for people and/or companies to share large sets of data, without having to host large servers to do so. Perfect for things like a small Linux distro or some other piece of software that is not backed by a big company with large servers and unlimited bandwidth.

I think it's the companies' own disadvantage if they totally shutdown piracy. First, piracy gives popularity to software/apps. Without it, only rich people will know those things. Most likely, if all are paid, only rich people will buy. But with piracy, rich people will still buy (to avoid virus) plus, even the less rich people will also buy after having a good experience with the software. For example, many Minecraft players start with pirated copies but later buy a license simply because they really enjoyed it and they want to play on servers requiring a legit copy. How can we say that those pirated copies are losses to the companies when in the first place, they won't initially consider buying them if they are expensive? For a child growing from poor country, it's very unpractical for me to buy games where I can not gain benefits close to education because it will just distract me from doing more important things. I will just play outside with my friends. Second, this encourages families with less profit to buy computers. Who would buy computers if they can't even buy every software there? No software, computer is useless. And no computer, of course no software. This is why Android has a lot more users globally because aside from the gadget price, there are more free apps available and piracy is easier. I'm not saying that android is better than ios nor piracy is better. But with these, a lot of potentials are unlocked on all sides.

And a large amount of people still want to have their files locally, so that they can use it however they want, play it on any device they want and with any program they want. I purchased an hard drive for £1.00 at a car boot sale in London, when I connected it to my computer it had what seems to be more that a hundred music albums of some of the biggest artists in the world, including all of Bob Marleys albums and all of Michael Jackso's albums, and audio books of people like Nelson Mandela and Obama. Because of torrent I've discovered a lot of animes and musics. In my country, local available stores don't even have them, I don't see cd stores that sells full discography of certain bands, especially when they're new. I managed to watch full season of certain shows and even extra of it etc. All stores only sells mainstream stuff and even mainstream stuff limited to really old seasons or might even just be one episodes per cd whcih cost around 10bucks per cd. 8:41 Gotta correct you on this one. Reliable and good VPN's cost arround 3$ per month (express is very expensive for a vpn provider). If you consider this to be a 40$ per year license to download whatever digital material you want, for which some people pay hundreds of dollars it makes a lot of sense to me. When compared to the price of subscription services for movies/games and music. You would be looking at 240$ for netflix in good video quality for a year. 120$ for spotify premium for a year and 120$ for xbox game pass a year which comes out at about 500$ per year for just 3 streaming services which certainly don't have every movie, game or artist you could think of.

8:50 mark I just want to add the reason why they are more likely to pay for a VPN then just hulu If hulu offered everything then people would gladly switch to save 20 bucks but hulu doesn't offer everything their selection of shows alone is rather limited and for many they cant use hulu unless they use a VPN to get a us based location to access it in the first place. The VPN comes in handy because sure it might cost 100 dollars a year or more but they can use it for all kinds of content not just a small selection of services, hence my point on another video of yours about this that if there was a service that provided music games shows movies apps and so on all on 1 platform for a reasonable fee that that would most likely kill torrenting or illegal downloads for most people Imagine paying 20 a month for a service that lets you play every game on steam/microsoft store/origin(and so on) while listening to every song currently found on yt while watching every show found on every streaming platform all from the ease of effort of a single program/app. No need for a browser/20 different launchers to watch your show while playing a game on the side no need to hunt down non virus infected copies of a niche program you want to use once or twice but don't want to pay 90 dollars for its all there in 1 location. If we ever reach that point(we probably wont given how every company wants to have a streaming service we will prob end up back to the same spot as cable was at) then piracy as we know it today will most likely die off big time.

Most people don't understand but piracy also plays a major role in the popularity and adoption of games, software and movies. For example In india, most of us had windows pcs when I was a kid... (with pirated windows). I learned photoshop by downloading pirated Photoshop software from pirate bay. But now I'm in a position to pay for these services..which i would happily pay in comparison to some unfamiliar technologies... that's the reason why windows are so popular in developing countries.. compared to Apple Mac... In our country our government created a law regarding copyright media essentially protecting everyone from having their internet disconnected or any consequences, in NZ copyright holders have to pay $80 nzd per notice to the isp and then they will send a notice to the customer, you can get up to 5 notices in one year before your internet is disconnected and then you can just go to another isp, because of the cost no copyright holder bothers, a couple of music ones did a number of years ago but nothing recently, and because it takes a number of notices it makes it very expensive

I just found out it’s pretty much impossible to legally stream or download movies in 4K legally if you’re on windows PC, believe me I tried very hard to do it that way . I bought Interstellar with the disc and digital code as well have it on streaming services and checked everywhere they all automatically put you at just 1080p or lower. Yet they still advertise and sell movies through 4K including KZbin movies. I’ve heard sometimes it may work for some movies but they still sell movies that don’t output 4K literally because of Microsoft restrictions. This is the most ridiculous thing… funny thing is it is an anti piracy measure yet it pushes you to pirate because there’s literally no way to legally watch movies jn 4K… very disappointed.

Torrents are absolutely essential for people with poor, intermittent rural almost broadband connections. If it wasn't for torrent technology i wouldn't have an OS as the only way to download a 5gb Linux ISO is p2p when your connection drops as frequently as every few minutes. Oftentimes it's the ONLY way i can actually get something large, even if i own a product key for it it's often undownloadable with my connection and i'm forced to find a copy on a torrent. This has everything to do with the fact that i simply can't download 1GB+files without a connection dropping. If it drops 900mb into a 1gb file, well, that's 900mb of my data gone and i've got to try again. I fail 10 times and i'm 1/5 of the way to my data cap and still have no 'free' software. It costs like $50 in dozens of GB of data to try and download a 'free' version from failed attempts when torrents just pick up where they left off, no connection for 5 minutes? No problem, a 1gb file takes 1gb of bandwith to download, not 10-25gb of fail. Y'all egghead silicon valley city slickers think there's a 5g hotspot every 10 feet across the world when 'big braining' these ideas but fail to account for the fact that 25% of America has no access to broadband, another 10% lack reliable broadband access such as myself. Now America isn't exactly a small struggling third world upstart agrarian society, we've GOT all this fancy modern whizbang tech to connect everyone, but the quality of connectivity shadows the wealth and income disparity and inequality. And the lower income you are, the more you end up paying for basic services. I pay the same amount i'd pay for my connectivity if i lived in say, LA with 5g brain cookers every 10 feet i'd get a solid 2mbps liie clockwork day and night, making the service more valuable and useful. In my situation though, i end up paying the same amount to get 1/10th of the quality, speed, and sometimes availability because i live in a lower income area. Rich people in rich places get cheaper rates effectively while paying like 1% or less of their income than someone like me who spends 10-30% of my income on 1/1oth of the quality. It limits my opportunity to participate in the world most of you take for granted, no zoom calls, mujltiplayer anything, streaming, uploading long form content to youtube or other platforms so i can't even record this rant in a video and upload it as commentary, it'd take days to get it online. The missed opportunity costs such as this is much greater than just the fact that i make 10 times less and pay 10 times more for connectivity. The same goes for groceries, economically depressed area, we pay 30-50% more for basic items than in Scottsdale, AZ, where ONE HOUSE is worth more than the entire town close to where i live and everyone lives like a bitcoin scam ad flexing lambos and armani and all that. Meanwhile i struggle to afford shoes and socks without holes in them because everything has a 'poor people' tax on it. If everything didn't average out to costing twice as much for the same products and services it'd be the equivalent of doubling my income. If i at least got the quality of service i paid for, it'd provide economic opportunity. Poor people wouldn't be so poor if they had equal access to infrastructure and basics. Ironically, i find that companies not offering their products as torrent downloads shifts a lot of sales to piracy, since there's no other option. I can't download fusion360 right now because my connection won't stay active for 10 minutes, nevermind the 10 hours it'll take at like 50-100k when i try to get it from the official channels. If i want to use their FREE LICENSE software i'm STILL forced to go find a torrent of it that hopefully someone is sharing. Lots of open source projects and orgs offer torrent downloads thankfully, but it's something that the corporate world should take note of. I NEED tools to work on art and 3d printing that i can't even buy because companies don't offer the only means i have of obtaining it, leaving tor connections and humming sea shanties for a day or a week, however long it takes me to get a several GB installer. TL;DR There's NO WAY my rural internet connection is stable enough to use official channels, leaving 'piracy' through torrents my only option to obtain software i'm licensed to use because official providers won't offer torrents.

Wait till this is STILL an issue when the 'metaverse' gets mass adopted and it'll be like the smartphone disparity. I don't know how many times now that i couldn't perform some essential function that requires a phone and a solid connection as i didn't own a smartphone until just a few years ago because there's no point in getting a phone when my area has no connectivity. There is a VPN... An older version of "Hotspot Shield VPN" is free to use with no data cap. Can be found on the microsoft store, but certain devices can't or won't download it. To watch or listen to anything you have to have multiple subscriptions to streaming services. When you torrent, you get everything. Torrent software has built-in proxies and you can search for torrents on Tor. You get everything you could want and it's technically included with your internet and you don't necessarily need a fast connection, which means you can pay for speeds that wouldn't be suitable for streaming 4K but will happily download it. I don't know the stats but clearly, companies aren't suffering from these sites. They're still making billions for a single movie.
