The roots of the issue go way deeper than just the FA. All Sports in the country are struggling. The current Minister of sports and leader of the National Sports Authority have neglected all sports development within the country to the point that almost no development have happened in the last 5 years. In the international break before this just past one, we couldn't even play a game at home because the stadiums were in such a deplorable state. that's how bad it's gotten.
@ckubox67332 күн бұрын
Would you say the problem also have maybe something to do with the current economy of your country or is it not an area the government is currently funding
@jeromeskuggen54282 күн бұрын
@@ckubox6733There are so many dimensions to this issue that would need a much longer video to exhaust. The economy is a part but it isn't even the most pertinent reason. In Africa, especially Ghana, every issue can be linked to leadership and corruption. We are only seeing the full explosion of an issue which has been festering for years. Sports is taken for a joke in our country right from youth level all the way to adulthood. There's no clear path and you must be extremely motivated, talented, smart and lucky to make it. Even the mindset of most of the people here is a problem from my experience working with some private football academies here in Ghana. So this issue can't be simply explained with a bad economy. The roots are way deeper than that.
@TOlp-oe3fp2 күн бұрын
@ckubox6733 Relative to most African nations, Ghana’s economy is pretty good, and has been improving The main problem, and is a problem that plagued many areas of many African countries, is corruption. As mentioned in the video, the football federation of Ghana is pretty corrupt. This further applies to the entire sports ministry In 2023, the government allocated 85 million Ceti (around 4 million pounds, or 5 million dollars) to fixing some of the biggest stadiums To date, the majority of this money is unaccounted for, and the stadiums are still in a near unusable state Additionally, historically, many other sports in Ghana received funding cuts in favor of football. Recently, the government has decided to try and be more inclusive to other sports. So the funding is now much more spread out across sports, rather than 95% going straight to football So, basically, football isn’t receiving as much funding as it once did, and the funding it DOES receive often goes straight into the pockets of corrupt politicians

As a Nigerian, I’m loving this 😂 not qualifying for the WC is understandable, as African qualifiers are usually difficult. But not qualifying for AFCON?? That’s unacceptable. AFCON qualification should be the bare MINIMUM for countries like Nigeria and Ghana

In fairness Nigeria didn’t qualify for two AFCONS in a ROW! 2015 and 2017 but in our defense AFCON only had sixteen teams in both editions and only group winners progressed But yes in 2024 AFCON qualification is the bare minimum to the degree that I don’t even watch AFCON QUALIFIERS because 99% of the time Nigeria should qualify

@bababababababa61242 күн бұрын
@@isacksbas I just explained, Africa probably has the most difficult WC qualification process out of any continent. Mainly because we unfortunately don’t get enough WC spots for how many countries we have, meaning that it is usually a bloodbath to qualify. It isn’t uncommon for larger African countries such as Nigeria, Algeria and South Africa to struggle in qualifying. Either way, there are still about 6 games left in WC qualifying, and we currently sit second from bottom in our group. It is extremely poor given our talented squad, but I believe we can come back

I do think, as a Ghanaian, this is a good thing. Finally, our problems can be addressed. For the record, the lowest ranked qualifier is Botswana, who prior to the draw was ranked 145th (with only Lesotho, Eswatini, South Sudan and Chad ranked lower), yet the team qualified in a group featuring Egypt, Cape Verde (who were close to demote Ghana to Pot 2) and Mauritania (all three were participants in the last AFCON)
