What Happened To The Lost Arkham Game?

With a pretty clear beginning, middle, and end, this series reached its natural conclusion. While, yes, the ending is very ambiguous and implies many things, for the most part, Bruce Wayne’s story was over, and in the years to follow Arkham Knight’s release we were really left with nothing. The series was over so what should we be looking forward to? Well. in 2016 rumors began to surface about the next installment of the Arkham franchise.

WB was working on Project Sabbath which was the project name for the "rumored" titled game Batman: Arkham Legacy, sequel to Batman: Arkham Knight. It got canceled and Gotham Knights became a separate thing as it's not related to the arkhamverse.

I believe that was Josh Keaton. They are certain details about Project Sabbath that suggests it's related to the arkhamverse, like Harley Quinn starting a cult after the Joker who died years prior and Poison Ivy's resurrection (which they put into SSKTJL). Fact of the matter is we're not gonna know for sure because the whole thing was cancelled. I'm only saying this would've been a better final game for Kevin Conroy.

There were big rumors that Rocksteady wanted to do new original things after his Arkham trilogy ends but Warner pushed the studio to full focus on popular DC brands (they pitched a Superman project but WB was way more interested in a Suicide Squad game after the big success of Will Smith & Margot Robbie 2016 film adaptation), so many veteran members of Rocksteady (like founder and director Sefton Hill) abandoned the team these past years

Leaks don't cancel projects that have started, especially with a game. A game is primarily about its playability and setting not about its secret story lines. If a story is the reason for a game then what about driving and fighting games? Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Gran Turismo, Forza, etc are huge franchises that really have no story. If a game has leaks it's because people are hyped about the game. If the leak is something spectacular it could actually make more hype.

I feel Warner will do what they always do and retcon the unsuccessful thing out of the equation. Man of Steel was originally going to be part of the Nolan-verse, The Flash movie was going to be part of the DCU (Blue Beetle will probably also be retconned), Superman Returns is lowkey ignored on the Reeve continuity, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if we later learn SS:KtJL is a "Arkhamverse's introduction to the multiverse" or a "They were clones all along" type-deal.

Sabbath was really great, at least in hindsight and compared to what GK became. It was familiar to what had been established by the Arkham games with enough changes to help it find its own identity. Such a shame it got canned all because WB thought it was too similar and safe.

I am actually so happy and yet also remorseful after watching this video... I had always envisioned that a Batman game with the nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor/War would probably be like the hit of the decade, the nemesis system is so alive and just... fit a Gotham game about trying to take down an underworld of villains, even more than it could ever fit LOTR in my opinion. Hopefully WB finally commits to making a game with it, or they allow someone else who has the balls enough to use the nemesis system to make what would probably be the game of the century

I kind of thought the Nemesis system in a batman game would've just been extremely annoying, if they worked it specifically into how Talons worked, that would've kind of been a pretty cool concept, actually. It just would've been annoying if it becomes necessary in completing the game to clear Talons if there is a never ending supply of NPC enemies filling power vacuums while you are trying to move forward.

I liked the story for the canceled game, especially in terms of lore. Regarding what happened in SS:KTJL, I must admit I was surprised by the freedom they were given to develop the story. However, upon seeing the story leaks (ironically) post-lunch, I'm saddened by what they have done. It seems they added a "surprise" element just for the sake of it, and any further developments will only make it appear as though they are trying to fix things rather than asserting that this was their vision from the beginning.

I must say, that after the conclusion of Arkham series, and the ************* of suicide squad, I discovered a game that plays similar to Arkham, fight wise, has great vehicular combat, interesting world, and some good writing. It's called Mad Max. Waaaaaaay better than SS, and in some areas, even better than Arkham series. For obvious reasons, it lacks the DC lore 😂 which may be a downside for some. But from what I've heard, this game was largely missed by many, so if you've never heard of it, give it a try. U would think they would used Terry McGinnis as the new batman instead of Damian. It would have been nice to hear Will voice in beyond arkham game as batman beyond. But I guess for some reason they didn't think Terry McGinnis is not as popular as Damian.

They could've still had the same VA but why they went with Damian is because of their use of Talia in City. This game could still work with the passing of Batman if Terry has zero connection and instead discovers how to be the Batman. That way Batman could be an in-game rumor with small re-used lines maybe heard in a recording or something.

I'm just glad I got to live to see my number one character get the same treatment like Spider-Man but even better I could care less about batman beyond I just want a classic Batman game and that's what we got so and I'm so happy
