Yeah idk how Alan Grant had a vision on the plane of a Male raptor he never saw prior to JP3. It technically should of been one of the Raptors he saw in the first JP. It also should of never looked like it spoke. That part takes me out of the moment every time I see it.

tbh the same would be said to the rest of the velociraptors because the quarantine pin was after the actual enclosure they had. And workers constantly got attacked or some even worse.

just a tiny detail. these are not HIS raptors, they're hammond's. and if john hammond doesn't want you to kill a multimillion dollar worth genetic mutant, for the sake of your salary you don't. although i admit, this kind of behaviour would've been more realistic if spielberg portrayed hammond as he was in the books. attenborough's hammond probably would've mellowed enough to let him.

I think all the adults are dead in the movie canon. Two are most definitely dead after getting bit by the rex. I don't remember if the 3rd one ever came back at any point in the plot (correct me if I'm wrong), so I would assume that's the one that was locked in the freezer and is also presumably dead from hypothermia. The only ones that might still be alive on the island would be the infants that might have hatched in the wild, or the baby we see hatch at the beginning of the park tour, but they probably have low chances of surviving to adulthood on their own. Obviously Nublar gets destroyed in Fallen Kingdom, so unless any surviving raptors managed to swim or stow away for the trip to the mainland, they're all dead.
@StefanVeenstra
@StefanVeenstra 4 жыл бұрын
@@faceless2302 If going by novel canon, there were already some 15 raptors nesting around nublar unbeknownst to InGen and several juveniles managed to slip aboard a ship leaving for mainland. Can't recall if they managed to survive the trip to the mainland however.
@faceless2302
@faceless2302 4 жыл бұрын
@@StefanVeenstra The last computer population count reads 27 raptors out of 37 expected, and Ellie and Grant count 22 adults and 33 or 34 hatchlings in the underground nest, presumably in addition to the other 27 found above ground. 3 raptors were stated to have been found and killed on the ship, but I don't know how many were originally seen boarding it. It's unknown if any survived but evidently some dinosaurs did make it to the mainland, we just don't know of what species. With close to 80 raptors running around it seems reasonable to expect some of them had attempted the swim.

2 ended up killed by the rex and one got stuck in the main buildings kitchen fridge for life. That where all the ones of the original movie. If talking about the nest grant found, well, it is not that hard to assume that if those where raptors, they just all died because they where not cared for.

The 3 raptors in the first movie all died. 2 by the T-Rex and 1 locked in the meat freezer that would have frozen to death before anyone could've come back to let it out. 1 more that would've been shot to death if this video is correct.

@@Competitive_Bid_ I saw one with an M16 which made me scratch my chin, but any of those armed men are more than likely Game Rangers much like Muldoon and possibly in similar positions of power or more than likely are his staff which would be kept minimal since multiple times throughout the first movie and hammered home in the second movie that Hammond does not want these animals to be killed via human means at ALL. However, throughout the movie we do not hear of the death of an animal but rather of the worker and through continuities sake it is made semi clear that The Big One is the newest addition to the Pride and has shown considerable aggression, killing 2 of the Pride members, and would make very very little sense to try and include a new Raptor with the very high chance that A) the Pride would immediately attack, if not sedated or B) the new Raptor is introduced and killed, forcing InGen to lose billions of dollars in investments

It could also be theorized that if Hammond is as reckless with his money as we have come to see, Hammond would have an on-site vet clinic. Hammond's "spare no expense" approach seems to be more guided toward the lives of the animals, and not the safety of the people. So it may entirely be possible that this raptor survived, if Hammond demanded it be taken into surgery. If that is the case, we have a direct and almost clear "motive" as to why the raptor later on in the movie takes such care and almost pride in killing Muldoon; it's literally revenge.
@SaftonYT

My only problem with this theory is that the Big One has no visible scars or marks of any kind. Not to mention it almost certainly wouldn't be in tip-top condition needed to kill off two of its pack mates after the fact.

Safton also keep in mind the context from what we know about fallen kingdom where the son or whatever the main protagonist is says to hammonds ex friend Lockwood about what drove them apart contextually it could work with what you but thematically it misses the point if only barely. But you both could be onto something considering that the revenge angle seems solidly on point considering that who’s to say that raptor wasn’t somehow related to “the big one” or at the very least hatched in the same brood or very near the one that was “killed”

@@TichondriusTheScourg I mean he himself had a shotgun and only in this video did I notice that anyone else had shotguns. Until today I kind of imagined the scene where everyone else had tazers and Muldoon was the only person who had the authority to give the order ergo he was the only one with the means. In any case, you can still blame the Big One for this even if she wasn't the SAME Raptor. She was the one who got them all attacking the fences, so its her doing that they were moving them to begin with. That and this Raptor (if its not her) would have likely been taught TO look for weak points (such as the fact that the crate wasn't locked into the doorway) So from a certain point of View, the Big One IS still to blame.

It's always possible they were firing less-than-lethal ammo, like beanbags, though I wouldn't trust beanbags to dislodge a 200 lbs raptor from my coworkers' intestines. The SPAS-12 is actually very notable for it's secondary pump action function, which lets it easily cycle ammo types that are too low pressure for automatic cycling (like less-than-lethals).

Another thing to take into consideration is the fact that IF "The Big One" was the one that killed Joffrey- she should have had SOME scars or injuries later in the film from those tasers and shots she received during that scene. Great analysis, Klayton... I would have continued believing that "TBO" was the raptor responsible for poor Joffrey's death. This CHANGES EVERYTHING now for me.

I loved the opening, for it represents the inherent danger of these dinosaurs. I too struggle to concluded this was the big one, but was convinced that it was not because: a) We are shown security with lethal (rifles) and nonlethal weapons (taser rifles), showing that INGEN wanted to try to save its animals (Bet Muldoon wanted lethals only). And b) Muldoon says "work her back" meaning to use tasers, then when Geoffrey is getting attacked to "shoot her" meaning to kill the raptor (this was pointed out to me by a friend). What I want to know is if this is the one raptor that causes Muldoon to later tell Dr. Grant's group "they are lethal at 6 months, and I do mean lethal." Hence why it was being moved into the holding pen in the first place.

I never heard that “death rattle” he points out in this video, but that could still be a normal noise, or just one of pain, but not yet death. I also think it’s clear that a raptor being lit up point blank by numerous shotgun blasts is VERY dead, but the raptor dragging him into the pen as the scene changes DOES seem to show that it’s still alive and trying kill someone as the scene changes

Ooooookay. That definitely sounds like a deliberate final breath but whatever lol. I think people greatly underestimate the power of a single shotgun, let alone multiple. I think we assume it was the big one because S/he (according to some theories that the Big One was transitioning and thus the Raptor Eggs Grant and the Kids find) was because she Bolder, Smarter and Meaner than all the other Raptors. The rationalization I always had was that each Raptor probably costs tens of millions (if not more) to make, at least back in those days when cloning a Sheep was a a monumental project and that it was just LOUD Tranqs being fired. But your theory does hold water and now it seems likely that the Big One could only be blamed for encouraging such an action prior to them being transferred as it was her fault they were moving them to the small pen to begin with... So she might have been encouraging Raptors to be more mean and ambitiously so. The only evidence against your theory is that Robert said she killed "all but two of the others" and we know that by the time the paddock shut down, there was THREE Raptors left, but Robert might have meant that she had also GOTTEN Raptors killed (attacking the fences and by extension armed workers)

@@Amadeus8484 Hit the nail on the head. I'm also not convinced that she actually did kill all of the others; maybe they escaped - to find safe nesting sites - and it was they who laid the eggs. If you look at where the clutch was found by Grant and the kids, it's in the Brachiosaur enclosure - far from the Visitors' Center and the feeding paddock where Joffrey was killed, but close to the Velociraptors'/Achillobators' original paddock. It isn't until the heroes' second day on the island that the power to the raptor paddock is turned off, and it's not long after that the raptors kill Arnold in the bunker and Muldoon in the woods and attack the gang at the Visitors' Center - all of which happens in the immediate vicinity of the raptor feeding paddock, implying that they didn't venture far after escaping. So, if it _was_ only the three raptors - the Big One and her/his two buddies/mates - then they couldn't have been responsible for the egg clutch. Moreover, that clutch of eggs would have needed time to hatch; days, maybe weeks. Unless Grant and the kids somehow left the Brachiosaur paddock and entered the Raptor paddock (which we didn't see them do and is in the opposite direction from the Visitors' Center) off-camera and found an egg clutch that was laid BEFORE the raptors were moved to the feeding paddock, then it had to be other raptors - escaped raptors - that laid those eggs. My theory is that The Big One killed a few of the original pride to establish dominance and kept its "mates" close by as, like, generals/enforcers while the others were set to digging out and finding nesting sites. It's a main plot line in the book and it's established in The Lost World movie that the raptors are really good at digging, so it stands to reason that some of them dug their way out and created nesting sites where they felt it was "safe": in an herbivore's enclosure.

@@hanburgundy4317 Well we don't know if it was the Brachiasaur paddock or if they had kept going until they got into an area where the Brachiasaurs have moved in. That said, I can actually see the Big One doing just that, killing most of her pack. The problem with the Raptors of Jurassic Park is that they were only imprinted on by Hammond but then abandoned entirely, he likely didn't see most of them again very often, if at all, so the Park inadvertently raised a pack of emotionally damaged and abandoned creatures who were cut off from everything and everyone, perfect breeding ground for a Narcissistic Psycho like the Big One, had it been a Pack like Blue's the others would have stood up to the Big One. That said, I think that the Egg Clutch (assuming that they ARE Raptor Eggs) might have been abandoned there and the Park just didn't find them, I mean how could they? They weren't looking for Dinosaur Eggs and there were only 8 original Raptors and with a bunch dead, Eggs hidden behind a bush would have been the last thing they expected. If the Three remaining Raptors had laid the eggs shortly after the Big One's transformation had it becoming even bolder and meaner than before, the response of the Park to move the Raptors immediately out of the Raptor Paddock and into the Raptor Pen probably meant that nobody, Dinosaur or Human was in the Paddock thereafter until the fences started failing. The Eggs might have hatched on their own, leaving a bunch of Raptors in the same predicament, wandering off alone.

@@hanburgundy4317 Your own theory does have merit, but those eggs looked a bit small to be Brachiasaur Eggs and if were assuming that the writers were aware that Brachiasaur's laid TONS of eggs at once, then there should have been WAY more. It is akin to Sea Turtles, they just lay so damn MANY because they NEED a bunch of fall guys and bait to survive as a species. Prey animals as a whole tend to have more babies than Predators and the Egg Clutch was relatively small.

From a narrative standpoint and building the rivalry between Muldoon and The Big One from the beginning, it’s a cool idea. They clearly had non-lethal as well as lethal weapons in this scene, and in Jurassic World they were still trying to reclaim the Indominus but I'd like to think that if it was actively endangering guests or park workers they'd have used lethal weapons against it as well. In fact, after a bit of debate they DID load up a minigun to kill it. They just...critically failed at doing so.

This is an amazing theory! I never heard the growls of the raptor until you pointed it out. I always thought The Big One was the one that killed Muldoon because we’re told that she is the smartest one (and used her intelligence to kill Jofree) and given the fact that Muldoon says “Clever girl” immediately after being outsmarted by the raptors. You have definitely opened my mind to these kinds of theories! Amazing video!
@Mokiefraggle

I honestly just sort of assumed that the bit about "Clever girl," was just complimenting the raptor in a weird way. Like, it felt like Muldoon was kind of telling her that it was well-played, and preparing to make a last attempt to take one of them down with him...not that she was necessarily "The Big One" he mentioned as having taken over the pack. Just acknowledging that this was in fact one of those lethal creatures he'd been planning to take down if ever given the chance, and that he'd let her play him.

Any screenshots of the park staff in that scene holding anything other than shock-prods? I think I saw a glimpse of an M16 rifle. Generally speaking, that don’t have shotguns, and Muldoon certainly wasn’t using his... Thematically and character arc-wise, it being the Big One is waaay better. Shame about the inconsistencies. I choose to believe that after Jophery’s hand slips through Muldoon’s grasp (signifying his loss), they would have stopped shooting to spare the animal. I think the sound design was created to be very dramatic, without much consideration as to potential minor plot holes. Muldoon locking eyes with it is the single most important moment of the scene.

Jave yes there were multiple park staff that were sporting M16/AR15 rifles. I didn’t see anyone else with a 12 ga other than Muldoon. So unless someone picked up his. My thought has always been that the raptor died from being shot by multiple rifles after Muldoon gave the order.

@@twobeardedbirdhunters Well, Grant fired at least four rounds of buckshot with that SPAZ at the raptor in the control room and didn't even do any apparent damage to it, so I doubt the wardens harmed this one; raptors are weirdly durable. Jave Yeah, it makes sense thematically for this to be The Big One. She/he locks eyes with Muldoon - and other characters - multiple times throughout the film; this was a directorial choice, it was intentional, which means it _must_ have meant something. Moreover, Muldoon says there were only three raptors left: they bred eight, but The Big One killed five of them (or, they bred eight, _then_ bred The Big One and she killed six of them, but that doesn't make much sense). That makes it most likely that this raptor was one of the three we see in the film: either The Big One or one of the other two. Unless, The Big One _didn't_ actually kill off all of the others and some escaped into the park to find nesting sites... but that's another story lol
@twobeardedbirdhunters
@twobeardedbirdhunters 4 жыл бұрын
Hans Ollo Grant wasn’t shooting buckshot out of the shotgun. Go back and watch the scene where it shows the glass that he shot thru. There were 3 or 4 holes in the glass and that would indicate that slugs were being used for ammo, not buckshot. I doubt Grant’s shots hit the raptor because at that range a 12 ga slug is going to stop most anything in its tracks. Hypothetically I would say a raptor would be about as difficult to bring down as a large grizzly or brown bear. Now most guides in bear country carry a 12 ga loaded with slugs to stop grizzly/brown bears and that is quite effective on a bear. So if Grant would have landed a shot on the raptor it would have killed it or at the least mortality wounded it. But back to the opening scene...there is no doubt that the raptor died. Multiple shots from AR rifles at point blank range is going to kill a lot of animals. Even if the raptor is heavily boned and muscled...the bullets on impact mushroom and at that range have a tremendous amount of energy and that is going to leave massive damage to soft tissue. So we can agree to disagree on it but I’m sure that the raptor died as a result of those multiple gun shots.

Hey, long time watcher, first time commenter. Love your videos. I always thought that one was The Big One too, but your reasoning makes sense. Consider Muldoon starts by telling the crew to "work her back" with the tasers--to try and save Geoffrey and the raptor--but when he realizes it's not working is when he tells them to switch to lethal rounds and THEN you hear the shotguns.

I always figured the opening Raptor was the Big One due to Muldoon's later comment about 'When she came along she took over and killed all but two of the others' as well as his comments about how she's problem solving intelligent and works problems out as she goes. It all fit with the opening Raptor. It always came across to me as one of those story-telling moments where you're filled in on whats going on without being outright told, like its up to the viewer to put the pieces together - such as with Grant and Ellie's relationship. That said, I never really paid much attention to what the final snarls of that first Raptor could mean, and it is really interesting to think that she might've been killed

Because if it’s the raptor paddock scenes I personally think that the animatronics and puppets used there still do look really well. Especially considering they build up to the raptors appearance. But if the T-Rex breakout scene while I love that scene the only real problem I have with it is the CGI while the animatronic T-Rex still looks great but the CGI from and objective perspective doesn’t really hold up that well while the CGI is well animated I don’t think the skin textures look that great at points the CGI shots of the T-Rex look as if there made of plastic and the model isn’t 100% accurate to its animatronic counterpart.

Solid points. I think you're correct. Plus as others have said Muldoon already wants the raptors gone, and when you factor in his background he's not about to let an animal that potentially sees humans as an easy meal hang around. Muldoon knows that. His choice of a Spas 12 is actually not a terrible one if you know what it was meant for. Side note if you know its dubious reliability and how often they sometimes break maybe it wasn't the best choice but that's neither here nor there. You can empty the magazine with one of those in a hurry and Muldoon was definitely using the meanest rounds he could.

I have my theory on how the opening raptor is still the big one. Keep in mind this is me making an amateur deduction. I believe that the raptor in opening is still the big one and did live because of how Muldoon talked about the big one in the raptor feeding scene. He mentioned how it had killed 6 of the 8 raptor that were there when they "introduced" it into the pride. The way he goes on to describe her seems like he has some animosity towards her. My reason is because he's seen what she can do and how clever she is, example being the opening scence when they brought her in. As for how she could be alive this is my theory. By the time Muldoon gave out the order for them to shoot her the park worker was already in to deep. Now as for the gun shots its possible that before the guns were fired that the park workers who had their stun rods had inflicted enough damage to the raptor to cause it enough pain to possibly go unconscious. Now for the gun shot. If the guns were anything like the shotgun Alan Grant used near the end of the movie, its possible they only shot bullets not like a shotgun which shoots out in a wide area, but like a normal handgun (yeah I still dont see why the shotgun Grant used did that but meh). If this is the case its possible that the person who was firing the gun missed. So the sound of the raptor breath dying down could just be it falling unconscious from the stun rods. This is my idea on how the big one and the opening raptor are one in the same. Again this is just an amateur guess.

Here’s another question to pose about geoffrey’s death that I never hear about. When Geoffrey gets mauled, his body gets lifted up and down in the air perpendicular to the cage. Now given the size and relative strength of the raptors we see in JP, I would say it’s virtually impossible for Geoffrey to get lifted in such a way by a raptor alone. Especially one getting shot at at the same time. The movement would seem more indicative of a larger carnivore with a stronger neck and jaw muscles. Any thoughts Klayton?

I always thought the first (unnamed) raptor was fatally shot several times in a last ditch effort to save the gatekeeper, in which case they were too late anyway. They first used (as Owen refers to them in JW) "non-lethals", or the tasers "on full charge." They clearly had no effect on the raptor and they were forced to execute it. Because unless they had tranquilizers in the event the raptor got loose, which it could have easily done so with that large gap between the box and the paddock gate, they would have had to do anything to prevent it from harming anybody else otherwise, such as by shooting it to death. If that was the Big One, how did she survive multiple gunshots while Blue was mortally wounded by just one? How did they get her in the paddock without her getting loose and/or killing any of the other workers?

You have to consider Klayton, that movies as a visual and audio medium will only both tell AND show what is important. The simple fact is, the writing of this movie is setting up the "Monster in the Box" to be the Big One; not only as it comes face-to-face with Muldoon, but the fact that we get told about the incident with the Big One as well. If you're going to dismiss the "Randy" and "Kim" names from the shooting script, then "the Biggest of the Raptors" is just as easily dismissed; especially because the movie makes no distinction on size when it comes to the Raptors. The only distinction is how aggressive the one Raptor we follow from the Kitchen to the fight with Rexy is - it has the attitude of an Alpha and shows an almost sadistic level of disdain towards humans. The incident with moving the Big One into the park had already happened - as we established the Raptors had been released into the raptor enclosure. But when the Big One got aggressive with the rest of the pack, and Muldoon convinced Hammond the remaining trio needed to be isolated, the park workers moved them into the Quarantine Area. It's clear from the beefed up security that Muldoon is nervous about THIS particular raptor most of all. He's taking no chances. I'm certain this raptor is meant to be the Big One. Also take into consideration that even as the creature is being shot - it's also being electrocuted by several large taser-prods that were meant to get the creature to back off. The thing was STILL holding onto Geoffrey while being electrocuted, when it should be physically impossible. Plus, considering that there really isn't much of an opening to get a good enough shot at the creature, who is to say each shot actually even hit the thing? I'm pretty sure that the only shots that actually might've hit the creature were the last two right before the scene fades to Gennaro. Now also consider THIS hard evidence...You're listening to the Blu-Ray version of the movie which added new sound effects to the scene. For example in the original version of the scene - included on the 2000 collector's edition DVD - doesn't feature the Raptor snarling when it's eye is shown staring at Muldoon. Also in that scene the gun shots are not heard until after Geoffrey's hand has slipped through Muldoon's grasp and the scene fades. The Blu-Ray edition must've added the extra shots.

As blue leaving Owen symbolizes young adults leaving there parents to go on to do other things in there lives.And wanting to be free from there parental bond. And the scene at the end off Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom heavily imply this based on how blue and Owen interact with each other sounds similar to a young adult going off to a place like collage or even to live by themselves and Owen representing the parent doesn’t want to leave his Child (blue) to leave him due to his bond with her. This video pretty much expresses my thoughts on there relationship: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYSQc5-Zd8RmgpY Also I actually think that scene with blue and Owen at the end of Fallen Kingdom is probably the most emotional for me as there barley any dialogue and blue and Owen communicate mainly through body language. Hey, Klayton. I always enjoy your video and am a huge fan of your channel. After watching today's topic, I had to admit that the first raptor in the entire franchise had a huge possibility of being killed by the InGen workers. Your supporting details were all very believable, and you got my attention totally! However, I was in fact one of those people who thought that the first raptor was the same one as the raptor called 'The Big One'. There are some reasons on why I used to believe in this theory, but the biggest happened to be based on the novel. I remember that in the novel Jurassic Park, Ian Malcolm deduced raptor's aggressive behavior towards humans were based on their previous experience. Which means, because they killed a human before, they learnt that men were easy prey. That's where I led to the conclusion that in the novel, the raptor that killed the InGen worker in the beginning wasn't killed, but rather returned to its paddock unharmed, so that specific raptor was able to teach its siblings about human being an easy prey later on. After all, I thought this kind of pattern also worked in the film version, and thought that the murderer raptor was never killed at all. In addition, since Muldoon said that 'The Big One' was more aggressive, I felt like the deadly raptor from the opening sequence fit well to this infamous characteristics. Well, that's just my old thoughts, so I guess it doesn't have any big meanings anymore, haha. I'll be waiting for your new uploads. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful information about my favorite franchise, and have a nice day!

The only ones out is trex, Indo rex, raptors, birds, and any plant eaters from the hole in the fence in gyrosphere Valley. What about the other meat eaters and stuff that wasn't released. If it was regular fences like the original Jurassic Park getting through them be easy, but if it was like the T-Rex Paddock it would be concrete walls. They would be dead. Thanks for your time and videos.

Hey Klayton This May be an unpopular opinion but I actually think that Clair is one of my favorite characters in the JP franchise because she’s practically like me as a person (meaning we have similar views and interests). Also I love how the filmmakers didn’t just make her go through the same route that most Nerdy characters in films go through and didn’t make her a wimpy coward but regather made her a strong independent female lead (yes she’s actually the main character in the new films NOT Owen that’s a common misconception that people have with the new films. He’s just her partner who also is going through an arc along with her). She also has had lots of bada** scenes in the new films like when she ran towards the I-Rex while being chased by Rexy or when she stared down the Indoraptor with a gun. I also like how her relationship with Owen isn’t a couple relationship but rather there just partners it gave me a lot of Indiana Jones and Marian raven wood vibes (yes I prefer if a male/female character has a partner that’s of the opposite sex they’re not in a romantic relationship). Do agree and do you like how there relationship is portrayed?

My understanding was that the shots we heard were not from shotguns, but rather from the powerful electrical stun rods/guns. And the slow-down was supposed to symbolize Geoffrey's death, rather than that of the raptor. I don't recall seeing any shots of any of the park rangers with actual firearms walking up to the cage - I only remember seeing those with stun rods move in and discharge. If nothing else, I think this scene perfectly reflects how Muldoon takes a much more pragmatic 'safety first' stance in regards to the animals, while Hammond and the other higher ups consider the animals far too expensive as assets to just kill. After all, even something as "small" as a single velociraptor would likely cost much more to raise to adulthood and transport into the cage than settling a blood debt with a family out of court. And, if this is indeed the case (that the higher ups forbade him from ever using live ammo on the dinosaurs), then that would absolutely give greater weight to his bitterness at how all the raptors should be destroyed.

I, personally, always assumed the Raptor that killed the park worker was the Big One, but hearing the sounds you used convinced me that it's not the Big One.

I always liked to believe that was the "big one" in the opening scene, but that was based purely on speculation. I appreciate the points you've made that suggest otherwise.

Interesting. I haven't thought of that Velociraptor in the opening scene would be a fourth one ended up getting killed by Muldoon and his team together. I usually thought it was one of the three raptors letting go of Joffrey, but I didn't consider being a fourth one being killed afterward.

I looked at it as they were using less lethal shot to stop the raptor but you make a good point with the sound it makes.

I always assumed it was supposed to be hinted as the big one, but as a kid i too thought the growl at the end was a death growl and the gun shots meant it died too. who knows, good vid and thoughts to "chew" on.

Awesome vid as always but here’s what I always thought & why I still think it’s the Big One. 1. It’s the Big One because Muldoon locks eyes with her when she kills Joffrey. That’s why he says “When she looks at you, you can see she’s working things out”. This is also the reason the camera shows a close-up of her eye when Muldoon is being eaten, she watching her plan in action (distracting Muldoon so one of the others could take him out). 2. Her killing Joffrey shows how hostile she was from the get go. Plus the opening scene is them moving her into the raptor’s enclosure. “When she came in, she took over the pride and killed all but two of the others”, another example of how she continued being hostile. 3. Finally, a very good point brought up by William Zidek in the comments. If the intro raptor was dying due to them shooting her, how was she still able to pull Joffrey away from Muldoon with strong force as the scene ended.

In addition, I believe Joffrey survived the attack initially and died after being taken to a mainlamd hospital, I say this because in the book one of the first strange incidents is a man being taken to hospital with injuries from being run over by equipment on the island but that the doctors say his injuries look more akin to a vicious animal attack and that the man died in hospital, which is how Gennaro wound up investigating the island if I recall.

These videos ruin my childhood! It skews my head-canon so much! But seriously, Great job. I love how much research you put into these. I always assumed that The Big One was the raptor at the start of the film. I never really noticed Muldoon locking eyes with it or anything, but just the way he talks about the raptors when he meets Dr. Grant makes me think he has a personal quarrel with the big one. Also, since that raptor was being loaded into the raptor paddock, it would make sense that it was the big one, as she was said to have taken over and killed all but 2 raptors.

Hello, I am a big fan of your channel. I learned a lot about the jurassic park lore thanks to your videos. I don't know if you will ever see this comment but I think the big raptor in the shoot her scene was actually sedated. The staff or Muldoon never openly say they killed the raptor to Dr Grant or Ian Malcom in the raptor cage scene. There is also evidence showing Hammond bring opposed to killing any of the dinos. In your video regarding Muldoon taking down rexy, Hammond and Arnold told him to capture rexy not kill. I think the death noises in the shoot her was the sedatives taking effect and the raptor going to sleep not dying.

I always heard the shotgun blasts. The sega game made me key into the sound of the stun guns especially. So the difference between the sounds throughout the scenes and the final shots always stood out to me. I’m not sure I agree with the “death rattle” but I can see it. If you listen that sound is reused in combination with others later for raptor noises. The end of the scene also has the slow down effect of the visual incongruent with the sound so timing is purposely not exact matching up visual to sound for those pointing out the hand is still slipping through Muldoons grip

So this part got me really curious and starting rewatching. I noted that there was only Muldoon's shotgun at the time. What I didn't notice until now is if you watch closely within the starting scene was that they are holding assault rifles along with the stun guns. 5:32 of your video is showing one of them right now.

Interesting theory. I'd always taken that gutteral sound to be Geoffrey's last breath, not the raptor's.
