I still think they should launch the engine to the public if they not going to continue it, if they make it open source it would be really god, a lot of people will make, plugins, addons and etc, optimizing the engine in general

I mean... any engine can be hard to use/learn. Even seemingly easy-looking ones can become quite challenging, especially upon trying to use them for bigger projects, like Godot or GameMaker. So the validity of their statement definetly varies quite a lot, especially since the engine hasn't been talked about in quite a while now. Though considering what I just said above, I personally think UbiArt was probably just another typical game engine of the likes of Unity or Unreal.

Making games that requires your own real life drawing and turn it into a Character or background is absolutely incredible.

I seriously doubt what Guillemot said was true....I mean... we are talking about people who learn to use programs which are not easy to use and they do it......really was it harder to use than Maya??? or learning c#?? I think that was just an excuse so they didn´t have to release it as Ancel wanted, UBI has never been a company that is open to the community. If anything they´d have charged money for it, but when Ancel talked about making it open source he crushed any plans that UBi could have to release it. It would´ve been impossible to charge money for it once the creator talked, and as UBi is not really into 2d games I´m sure they simply forgot about it and let it die in hopes that no one would remember it. That sounds more likely.

Either difficult to use or easy to use I never heard of software or game engine becoming difficult to use.
