Welt suffers from Star Rail's main issue, which is turn limits. The two main forms of endgame, MoC and Pure Fiction, put the player on a clock, meaning you are rewarded for speeding yourself up rather than slowing the game down or tanking up. There isn't a reason to have more defenses than the bare minimum.

Yeah. Literally the only character that doesn’t absolutely require maxed our SPD right now is Black Swan, because she could literally have 1 speed and she would still work with Kafka. I even shifted my SW over to two piece messenger and will be shifting my two piece quantum into eithet two piece guard for survivability or two piece break effect.

He was my first standard 5* and I love combining his Slow and Imprisonment with Ruan Mei's Weakness Break Delay from her field. I think as long as Welt gets more units that complement him and he complements in turn, such as with that duo, he'll stay relevant and pretty damn satisfying to play imo

Its not just Ruan Mei. Since Ratio came out, I think a lot of players pair him with Welt, and rightfully so. Think about it, Dr Ratio scales with debuffs. While plenty of characters exist with debuffs, What's the easiest way to make an aggressive team with perma-debuffs? Extending the time of the debuffs. Welt does that in spades. Yes, the new set does offer similar stat bonuses without the imprisonment requirement, but its still strong and Welt enables it easily. Welt isn't as easily splashable as other characters, but bosses like the stings, and teams like Ratio Ruan Mei comps are some areas where he really fits in. He just doesn't receive praise, unfortunately, because he's more of an old news character. People see Ruan Mei and Sparkle and can see how they make it easier to clear MOC, but Welt is less obvious, so he doesn't get the same attention.

Inuzumo pulls most of the work its 12% cr then pioneer give you 8 when you land a debuff. I always run welt with pela so i factor that %20 from set bonuses in. I can't use the 3 of them at the same time which sucks cuz im trying to put toghether and acheron and ratio dual dps team. I think the damage ratio does will make up for the lack of a third nihility. Its something i want to test but can't.

Even having built Welt for Dr. Ratio, it still feels weird that he has certain parts of his kit that make him look more like a DPS (his Talent, E1, and E6) than a Nihility unit. IMO units crossing Paths is fine, but Welt would probably be better off being a dedicated debuffer than trying to dabble with the DPS side of things. I still use him though alongside Ratio, especially in fights where there are multiple enemies. You can basically blanket apply debuffs on all of them without have to worry about the chance for triggering Ratio's follow-up attack as much because they would likely start with 80% already (equipped with Resolution) even without Ratio's Effect Res debuff application.

What makes Welt weird is that he's too out of place right now. You just can't find a team for him to work on. Main DPS approach - he deals good damage, but there are better options, some are even 4s. Turn Controller - Slows hardly affects bosses at all. So it doesn't feel like his slows have any value. Sub DPS debuffer - He's too SP hungry to work as an alternative for Pela and SW. I can see him working well with Acheron's teams though. Since his AoE slow and damage receive debuff are things that Acheron would probably like. To add, Acheron's kit is centered around having two Nihility debuffers, excluding her. I think to properly explain it further, Welt is like a prototype for Acheron. If they had given him higher numbers, I think he would've had a place as a high-tier main DPS unit.

Yes but i won't say a crossing path, he still a nihility with his insane slow but the problem is that's the only thing he can do, in Moc/Pf, that's pretty abit useless since you want more damage and need def shred rather than slow, so far there aren't many team that benefit from him It's just that they(mihoyo) make the rest of his kit deals more damage rather than making him support

Started HSR, having played HI3 only a little, I already had an endearment to Welt, I originally wanted Jing Yuan the most from HSR, but then I saw Welt is in there, make an account, pray to all the rng gods that he's my starter 5 star pull, and he WAS, and I never felt so lucky, I still use him to this day and I love him so much

Thought of something while reading your comment, what if we had a character that sticks bombs onto enemies and it explodes when the enemy's turn is reached again but the longer it stays on the enemy, the radius of their explosion increases from single target, to blast to aoe, maybe to reward the player for slowing them down so much, a special kind of AoE can be used for the max range, where it's like a blast but for 5 enemies.

@@aceentertainment8082 im p sure that instead of building energy for her ult she has "stacks" and when these stacks reach their limit (9 maximum) you can use her ult which you have to press 3 times to completely finish. allies can hit and enemy she debuffs with her skill and then she gets stacks from them getting hit. she can do really high damage (i think like 300k on her ult) so you can use her as a hard carry. i might be wrong about some things but this is what i got from the leak video.

And it’s a pretty big boost too, 135 if you have one other or 160% more damage if you have two. I can see why people would want to run her and Welt together now.

Hello Vars. A bit off-topic but I’d like an in-depth analysis and thoughts on the simulated universe DLC (Swarm disaster and Gold and Gears). Despite the wacky chaos it brings, I’ve always felt there’s something missing in its structure or hidden potential. I’d honestly love to hear your thoughts and other commenters whether it is perfect as it is or it could do better.

Tbh the biggest problem with those modes is that...........gold and gears is just swarm disaster but better in EVERY SINGLE WAY, ......so hopefully when the next sim uni mode comes out (probaly 2.3) it isn't just "gold and gears but better"...... no i hope it differnciates itself from gold and gears in some way so it gives a reason to play them both

@@AccountthatexistsThat's hard to say. Especially since the whole gimmick of the extra SUs is that they "added dice" even Hertha says so when you first start Swarm Disaster quest. So I don't think the dice part would ever disappear and all proceeding SU dlcs that comes out will have the same system.

One thing that they can do with an ever growing character rosters, is sending 2 different teams to go through the simulated universe, it will take longer to clear, but at least that is a lot of content to do that you can do slowly, since rushing it defeats the purpose of long term gameplay.

I think down the road there’s room for relics that enhance the break of multi-instance attacks (such as bounce) making them just *shred* if there’s only one enemy. The current imaginary relic that boosts against imprisoned enemies is also kinda spicy and I can see a support character in the future that amplifies imprisonment and entanglement, since those elemental debuffs have gotten a lot less love compared to dots and freeze

Welt is awesome on any team where you use the bandit set like DHIL and Ratio. You can keep enemies imprisoned nearly 100% of the time which makes the wastelander set much more viable because you don't have to manage Imaginary break to use it. Its especially devestating with his Talent which makes every enemy wave spawn imprisoned meaning the first attack of every wave is at full power making quick clears nice and easy with DHIL and Ratio. Plus since March is my solo sustain with Gepards LC I can keep interupting the enemies with their ults nonstop and it helps simce March isn't the best solo sustain on her own and I don't want to replace her or any express crew member untill her 5 star form drops in the future

welt is still definitely a good unit with TONS of potential. for starters, being not only on the express crew but also being a character directly from hi3, it's very possible that he'll get a new unit, similarly to dan heng. also, both him and dan heng's 4 star innately deal extra damage to slowed enemies. if a more powerful dps unit like that was released, welt would make it into that "niche support" slot with topaz and black swan

I don't like using him in MoC or Pure Fiction but I like to use him in Simulated Universe and other challenges because he just makes everything so much safer. So many times, his ult saved my team from certain death and allowed me to heal up and come back into a fight.

Welt plus raun mei on the hunt path simi-uni is just so nutty, they never get a turn and when they eventually do, half of their dmg doesn't go out because welt ult disrupts their second (and sometimes, third) turn. Welt is one of my favorite characters from HI3 and holds a special place in my heart, due to reading the Anti-Entropy Visual novels and the second eruption manga before I started playing HI3 a few years ago. I was ecstatic when I heard that he was going to be playable in HSR. I ended up getting him about 3 weeks into playing HSR, and he has been my main ever since. Currently have him at e2 r2, and am hoping that I will be able to e6 r5 him. I don’t think I will ever take Welt (and Himeko as well) off of my team. Anyways, kind of off topic, but here’s to hoping that we get a playable younger Welt Yang, and also a playable expy of Welt Joyce

The problem imo is that his slow component, while equivalent to party wide speed isnt when you only have so many turns to deal damage like in moc, speed does. But i feel like that is a design flaw of moc rather. Moc could instead be defined by how many times enemies are allowed to act and then he would provide the equivalent value that he provides with slow instead of speed.

The thing about welt is that although his dmg buffs may be low relative to most harmony units you have to take his own damage into account often times his damage plus the main dps damage equals out to whatever it would be had the dps been just buffed by a harmony character

Being able to "How about NO" Bosses' extra turns with his ultimate is always SOOO satisfying. For example, Monkey always pounds his chest first, then pounces. And you can completely negate his attack. There's also Gepard summoning his barrier, Kafka bombing you... Welt can deny them all.

The biggest help Welt has given me other than being an imaginary DPS since 1.0 is his on demand imprison. That helped a lot in countering the new "Something Unto Death" Sunset and Nightfall in the new MoC 12 And when more unstoppable skills were added to the enemy, Welt will always be there to say No U

Fun story I was struggling with Meis story quest because of the boss. I mean i struggled so hard that ended up ignoring it until I passed the last equilibrium. Which made it harder but i also got welt in the standard banner and ran Fu Xuan, Dr. R, Welt, and Mei and beat it by the skin of my teeth However Welt played a huge role and he did again against Sam who i was able to beat (Almost lost again) on the first try. I got Welt while pulling for Ruan Mei, and now I have him at E1S2. I was happy I lost the 50/50 to him because I thought he would've been great in a Dr. Ratio team (don't worry, I still got Ruan Mei in the end), but now I intend to build him as a Silver Wolf-esque sub-DPS/debuffer for my Acheron team, as I think his Imprisonment application can massively help with Acheron's Ult rotation not just by giving her stacks for her Ult, but also by giving the team more windows to apply debuffs, creating basically a snowball effect of sorts.

A random idea came for a preservation unit idea when he mentioned Welt being like a preservation: a preservation unit that to defend the team they debuff the enemy damage a lot, to make this actually work the unit does need to debuff their attack and dmg a lot to be at the level of the other preservation units and also it needs to consistently reapply the debuff, but it would be a cool idea. For balancing it would actually be better if it's completely single target but the dmg reduction is insanely a lot, so a preservation unit more suited for single target bosses, which is right now not many but it would be cool.

Should be noted Welt also stops aurumaton gatekeepers from gaining sanction mode. Against bosses, if black hole is used after the bosses first action, it skips their second bonus action, which is incredible against certain characters. It keeps Bronya from dispelling DOT/debuff off Cocolia, or Gepard from casting his shield, etc. There's just no endgame that needs him right now, but he'll undoubtedly skyrocket in usability. Events like Fyxestroll Garden and Scentventure show just how crazy he can be in the right content. I predict that Scentventure will be a new gamemode like MOC and PF, akin to how Tales of the Fantastic turned into Pure Fiction at an almost 1 to 1 conversion with barely any changes.

i started playing the game just after Christmas last year (eq 5 now) and welt was the character i pulled from the rookie banner. at first i was disappointed but then i realized his kit early on is a god send. that imprison on demand really helped since i didnt have a healer. I kinda felt like a i have main'd welt for most content simply because of the imprison to interrupt bosses bonus's turns was reallly good. not to mention that his bounce on a single target was really strong

One thing that I think people fail to understand is welt's biggest strength of timing the usage his ult. sure he slows down the enemy but it barely matters, but i dont think that is his biggest strength. his ultimate imprison enemies, so bosses with more than 1 action per turn can be disrupted if you ult between their actions which essentially removing a lot of the boss gimmicks, for instance you can prevent kafka from using mind control ever, gepard from using his AoE or even summoning units, true sting from charging up its strongest attack or even the auromaton elite enemy from increasing its sanction rate. Also when the boss is disrupted in between their 1st and 2nd action their action is considered to be done and they are pushed back even further with the imprisonment. I don't know how many people actually aware his ultimate gimmick. For people who only wants damage welt might not be the best option, but for those who loves confrol strategy and play it safer he enables that. Also his skill is a toughness shredder against single target enemies, if the gimmick of the MoC on that update is about breaking enemies weakness bar as many times as possible welt is one of the better options especially with ruan mei in the team.

I use both Welt and Himeko! Yes, there are other units I may use instead of Welt, but he was the first unit I ever wanted and I still built him all the way up in case I ever need him again.

What I want from HSR and rewards players that consistently play and would help these kinds of character is increasing the moc and pure fiction lineups to have 3 chambers so u would have to build 3 teams. I know it’s not good for newer guys players but end game is end game and i think it be a cool way to make MOC and pf a bit more challenging by having to build more teams and thus use more of characters that u have built along the way.

Welt was my first 5 star and I had a lot of fun playing him back in 1.0, he was very strong considering that he was the only imaginary character and there were a lot of enemies with imaginary weakness. I haven't used him since I got Imbabitor Lunae but I still love him. Maybe I'll play him again if I get more eidolons, they look quite powerful

Really wish you talked about his role in 0 sustain teams, and rather current issue of him wanting to skill every turn making that archetype difficult to pull off consistently. Sparkle could potentially change this and allow for teams with 0 sustain and more damage overall.

If Welt's ultimate affected not only the enemy but also the turn ticker so that cycles passed more slowly, he'd be S tier ^^ The problem is most of the hard content is timed, so speeding up / buffing your team is just better than slowing down / debuffing the enemy. In the cases where Welt can replace a sustain unit on the team while still providing worthwhile damage, he's still quite good.

I think you got through most of it really well, though I will say that as long as there is characters want imprison whether through wastelander or something in their kit and with more whole team buffers becoming available he will still have market share for supplying that with his good personal damage as a kind of sub DPS

I love him and have him fully built just cause I have him at e3. I think if you can get lucky enough to get his e1 then his damage viability goes way up, but that does require getting a standard character twice which is not an easy feat.

I know eidolons are not a reliable source of power scaling especially for a standard 5 stars BUT, welt on e2 is pretty crazy with er rope you can get a 2 turn ult, with e6 2 turn ult is guranteed WITHOUT er rope. Again very unreliable but imo still worth noteing long in the future

I literally use his as a main dps and instead of pushing his aside like most did when they dot ratio I put him on the same team along with Ruan mei. I'm not gonna lie I was confused with him when I first started the game because he felt like a destruction units but not with acheron coming out I've come to realize that nihility is a three in one path. It has crit dps (welt/acheron), full on Debuffers (silverwolf/pela), and dot units. Overall my favorite path

welt is currently useful for the meme boss, the new set also gave him quite a few of the stats he needed, and he does pair welt with dr. ratio and acheron. hes a decent pick for clearing moc because he provides debuffs while also doing a fair bit of dmg.

I only started a week ago, I went into the game because of friends talking it up plus sparkle trailer Out of the standard 5 stars welt (based off looks and his abilities, not any meta knowledge) was my top pick for what I wanted out of the 50pulls banner, bronya being tied because of meta knowledge from friends saying shes goated. Welt was my first 5-star that I got from the Starter banner. Felt fitting storywise too, since I didn't do any pulls until after I finished the Belobog story, meaning swapping my Team's Dan Heng for Welt felt semi-fitting from a story perspective. And getting to use him was decent, even if he did feel a bit lacking in Defense (chalk it up to not putting good enough Relics on him, maybe)

he was my first five star and carried me through the luofu. using his ultimate to interrupt and completely halt attacks is the *only* reason i was able to defeat phantylia. i have and use dhil all the time but i still love welt all the same. he could see a rise in usage with more characters that benefit from debuffs, or with a harmony character that buffs damage when a debuff is applied. i think we would need a new type of endgame content that would benefit more from pushing enemies back, because right now speeding your team up is always better. i also happen to love his personality and story, and wish that his power in-game was more fitting for his lore as one of if not the most powerful person in hsr

With Acheron, i feel like he's the best nihility to pair with her honestly, cause he can single handedly control a team, increase their damage, and apply the extra debuffs she wants, while she needs up to 2 other nihility characters with her for maximize her damage. At her E2 you can just run him and now slot in sparkle and maybe even more damage in another character if he's got enemies under control. You already mentioned Ratio, but as more and more units come out that make you bring Debuffs, his stocks keep rising because he's AoE, AND keeps your team safe(r), and that may eventually let you completely skip out on running conventional sustain. If anything he's underrated because he does a ton, but isn't at the top in the areas people pay attention to. He does good damage, but not the best, he increases the damage you deal towards a field of enemies, but it's not like Pela ult + pearl shred. Fitting all that into one character + CC makes him great though. No other Nihility character actually controls anyone, and as long as that's the case, he has a pretty good relative spot in the meta.

I think what they can do for some of the old character is give them another ascension. Not to their level but to their abilities and traces. Dokkan Battle, the Dragonball Gacha game does something called an EZA that upgrades older units to transcend beyond the level cap of 100 and updates their “talent”

I don't think it's a bad thing to have multiple ways to achieve the same result, in this case for example, some people might find it funny to delay enemy action over and over while they think shielding or healing is boring, but I suppose if there's a significant gap in performance in the end then there's no helping it

I love my welt as a sustain/subdps/debuffer. He’s got imag set with 40/130 cr/cdmg 150 spd on er rope and penacony set. He can ult every 2-3 turns and pair with Ruan Mei and the enemy is never getting turns.

Welt, I think, will be making a resurgence soon thanks to Acheron. Acheron wants to be on a team with two other nihility units, and we now have another relic set that benefits character fighting enemies with different types of debuffs. Given that we also have Dr. Ratio benefiting from "fighting enemies who are debuffed", I think we may be seeing a new team archetype that could be built around units like Welt, Pela, and/or Silver Wolf to buff certain DPSs.

I'd like to mention that Welt can have niche uses when paired with Ruan Mei rather than choosing one over the other as welt can easily break toughness with ruan mei's buff and he can delay them further with both forming a pseudo sustain core that can squeeze out more damage than otherwise helping you reach damage breakpoints to clear content faster which is relevant in moc with a bit of risk which brings me to my point that i bekieve currently welt's best role is as a sub dps pseudo sustain unit paired with ruan mei who gives him important stats like weakness break efficiency that he can use really well and also benefiting from her team wide buffs as a damage dealer as well at the same time and ruan mei's delay disrupting the enemy further

What happened? More imaginary units were added... Fr tho, his support came from devuffs, he's the poster boy for nihility. Welt was actually a respectable unit, before characters like luocha and Daniel came out. Welt suffered from not really being a hybrid, like most other support units, like huohuo. U can definitely see the 1.0 powercreep here

Welt did carry me though the first part of the game… he was actually the 5 star that I got in the beginner banner. I only had at that time Jing Yuan, Natasha and March 7 as my main units and that extra turn saved my bacon multiple times.

Tbh i think the main problem with welt is that we just have no actual synergies for him. Like, yes, his only walid use for now is activating the imaginary set for ratio, plus if you just happen to play hypercarry dan hang (the OG wind one) then he also benefits from your opponent being slowed. But no other character or relic set has any kind of interactions with this kind of debuff It actually sort of bothers me that the nihility path which was meant to be used for debuffs mostly now consists of DoT subdps characters. I love dots as a concept but the fact that the only general purpose debuffers in the game are pela, welt and SW is crazy to me, especially with welt not so much being powercrept, but rather just not getting the synergies he deserves to have bc we are developing dots, bonus attacks and dunking on opponents with 3+ SP per turn with IL/qinque apparently
