Oh love a trip like this! And thanks for a wee ride on the Elizabeth Line!

Given the traffic on the bypass it’s quicker to do the train and tram that it is to drive to the airport! ☺️

Thanks so much! It’s now a year later and I’ve just been to the same event again - this time I just went on a LUMO train. Much easier! 😂😂

Great video as always Roger! I also was supposed to fly on the A320 neo back from Edinburgh with easyJet, sadly my flight got cancelled and I had to resort to getting the train to London. Nethertheless, I got to fly on the A321 neo to Corfu in August; very enjoyable flight!

The engines are so quiet! You can hear people’s conversations all around you! 😀

I do that same trip very regularly. North Berwick train to Waverley or Haymarket then the 100 bus to the airport. A bit cheaper than the tram. Surprised you didn’t get either a packet of crisps or a cereal bar with your bottle of complimentary water. Normally BA have the Speedbird Café on board where you can buy tea coffee or drinks, sandwiches etc..

Thanks Michael! I think there was nothing loaded on the flight other than the water - so no crisps/cereal bars or Speedbird Cafe! They did have the Club Europe meals for the 4 rows of people up-front. 😀

Hello Roger - your videos are both interesting and entertaining so thank you. I wonder how many of the pax on the BA flight were making onward connex ? Those flights can be expensive when booked not far ahead because BA will hold back seats for its connex pax rather than those flying point-to-point. Another point is the Elizabeth Line. Yes I know it's displayed on the tube map but, strictly speaking, it's not a tube line seeing as it runs over National Rail lines and/or is built to National Rail loading gauge. Finally as you rightly say The Landmark is a prestigious hotel but did you know it used to the HQ of the BRB (British Railways Board) ? Back in the 1980s I went there to interview Cyril Bleasdale (then head of InterCity) for the magazine. Everything about the interior was pure BR ... the same back entrance (facing Marylebone stn) and the man at reception (who one spoke to through a ticket office window) and the carpets, the chairs etc were all upholstered in BR materials. I've never forgotten that visit !

Hi Alex - thanks so much for your comments. I didn't know that about The Landmark - though I guess the covered walkway over to Marylebone Station makes sense in that context. I've been involved in a conference at the Landmark for the last 10 years and get to stay there for a couple of nights each year. The Atrium is stunning.

@@RogEdwardsTV The address 222 Marylebone Road was famous in BR days (all tickets displayed that address !). When the Great Central Railway arrived at its Marylebone terminus it built its own hotel called Hotel Great Central. In BR days its interior layout hadn't been changed and I remember old-fashioned lifts, long corridors and smallish rooms. When the Regent hotel acquired that building it took over it carried out a lot of work on the interior which was converted into that Atrium you see today. It reopened in 1993. Rooms must also have been enlarged and of course updated to modern standards. The Landmark's history is posted on its website.

Your train was going to Haymarket would it not have been easier to change there

I didn’t realise that until I was editing the video, Alister! ☺️ The North Berwick trains usually terminate at Waverley!
