“Highly indigenous“ …we know that Wicca didn’t really come about until the 1950s, and what Wiccans practice is not what the ancient indigenous Pagans actually practiced. It’s a modernized form or idea. Murray and Greer’s research now has been largely disproved. Modern Wicca’s true origins, are in the Woodcraft Tribe, a nature organization established in 1902 by naturalist and writer Ernest Thompson Seton that in 1915 became known as the Woodcraft League of America. Wiccans still cling to the idea that Wicca has ancient roots, although it’s been disproven on every account. If Wiccan’s want to take their place among the great religions, they first have to come to terms with their own history. These are some of the reasons I have stayed away from Wicca, but I respect them always. Ive met some amazing Wiccans and they are some of the most humble people Ive ever met. Religious tolerance is important for all of us to practice regardless of our differing belief systems.
