Here's the big question. IF the top athletes in the CrossFit space were to decide that they don't like the way the CrossFit has dealt with the Lazar situation from this years games and decided they were going to boycott the Games season and only compete in the non-CrossFit season events and continue to perform well enough to finish at the top of the leaderboard/on the podium at those events, then can the Games really say they are crowning the Fittest on Earth? I think Sean hit the nail on the head at the start of this. With all these other events out there that the athletes can get exposure at, I think the Games need the top athletes more than the top athletes need the games.

If we lost the CrossFit Games season, we would lose the Open. Losing the Open means losing the fans. No fans means no professional sport.

The one thing everyone seems to leave out when they bring up "in person competition" is the cost of traveling to all these events. Sure, the top athletes with sponsors may able to afford the travel but this would be less attainable for those up and coming.

I liked Sactionals. I hate the fixed qualifier through CrossFit

Step 1 - Recognize that CrossFit is NEVER going to be a major sport like the NBA, NFL, PGA, etc. Step 2 - Develop a model that allows CrossFit to put on a cost-effective CrossFit Games competition that supports the brand and crowns the "Fittest" athletes at various levels. This means dumping all live qualifiers (costs of venue, judging, support staff, etc., makes live qualifiers unsustainable) Stop allowing outside competitions to "qualify" athletes for the CrossFit Games as this isn't sustainable in the long-term and creates confusion in the short term. Step 3 - Eliminate all CrossFit Games competition movements not performed at CrossFit affiliates (no swimming, biking, paddle boarding, etc.). Focus on the training people get at the affiliates as the key to fitness. (No one is a better swimmer because they do CrossFit) .Step 4 - Leverage the CrossFit Games to promote health and fitness in order to drive membership to affiliates with special incentives that are measurable (use in house media to create content - documentaries, training, social media, etc., so that CrossFit controls the brand and the messaging to drive membership). Step 5 - Set CrossFit Games prize money at levels commensurate with participation rates and revenues. If this means cutting prize money then cut the prize money. Step 6 - Run the Games and stop jerking everyone around - this ain't that hard!

Crossfit ditching the games would be dire for its financial outlook. Hyrox would be the big winner, they have a bread winner that constantly brings in revenue weekly. Crossfit would bite their hand off for that

Tommy, anyone who designs baby clothes with actual buttons clearly does not have children themselves and certainly has never changed a diaper in the middle of the night.

At least for now, I have no enthusiasm for CrossFit affiliated events. Demand and participation will dictate the outcome.

CrossFit for99% of people goes on unchanged and I'll miss seeing @the iron hog crushing it, otherwise nothing changes.

Why would we want to get rid of the CrossFit games? Let’s forget what some of the elite athletes are posting on socials and think about the majority of the community. How do we/they test their fitness each year. CrossFit shouldn’t be about the top tier and about the affiliate members. Without the games there is no point to do the open as there needs to be the a final event that puts the top where they should be. There’s no reason to remove the games. And before the wave of someone died, find a competitive fitness event where someone hasn’t died during their start.

Let see if the top athletes will come back to the games or skip it totally first

The shaw classic names “the strongest man on earth” and world strongest man names the “world strongest man”. Do the same and just call it “worlds fittest women/man”.

Tired of the doom and gloom regarding CrossFit on this show. Some of us still enjoy CrossFit, including the sport.

That "Fittest on Earth" title is a real double edged sword. It gets attention, generates excitement etc...but it also encourages the Games programmer(s) to do more and more demanding...and sometimes dangerous...tests.

At this point, CrossFit LLC should just focus on trying to stay relevant and not The Games

A couple of comments: 1)one of the appeals of the CrossFit Games is the Open. It’s the opportunity for each crossfitter to put his hat in the ring and compete against the best of the best. 2) stop this pfaa nonsense. The pfaa is populated by and run by nearly all 2020 “black square” athletes. They do not have CrossFit’s, the methodology or the sport, best interests in mind. The pfaa owes the fans an apology for costing us Greg. 3)the idea of a season is great but to do it you have to separate sport from the affiliates and from the methodology. That’s not a terrible idea but it takes money to do so and who is going to be the commissioner that regulates the independent competitions?
