The issues last year against winning teams were not due entirely to Dak. We could not establish the run game, that is a coaching problem. We also could not stop the run, again, coaching. When a team fails with these two tasks it forces the offense to pass. The defense loves this. Third and long is is the goal. We have to establish the run game this year.

The teams that alaways win in the playoffs, have more than jsut a QB, they either have an offensive coorinator that can scheme guys open, or a defense that can shut down a playoff caliber team. Trey Lance is only 23 years old who got very unlucky his first two seasons as a 49er with those injuries to his throwing finger and his broken foot. He will be just fine once he proves himself during the preseason games which will be a good test for him and you Dallas fans.

Then they went back to Jimmy for a bit, then traded for CMC right before throwing Purdy into a newly loaded offense. Trey never got to play with CMC, and I really wish we could have seen that.

He just got unlucky to break his foot in the first half of the second game to end his career as a 49er. Who knew Brock Purdy would get so lucky to be given such a great offense to work with the last few games but even he got injured in the NFC championship game. I thought it was very unfair they didn't let Trey Lance prove himself to be the starting quarterback and compete against Brock but they did not allow him to do that. Most people don't know this fact but Shanahan contacted Trey Lance during the COVID shutdown after NDSU stopped their fall season and inspired Trey to quit college to go for the NFL instead. That is illegal to do but nothing was ever spoken about it. The reason I know that is because there was an interview of his parents who said Shanahan had talked to them before he quit college. They said that Shanahan wanted him on the 49er team.

End of preseason games we will know. Trey should be QB 2 at the end of the preseason. Then we will see about 2025. If Dak signs long term before the season starts then we have our answer about 25 and beyond. Guyton almost has to be better already than Edoga. I would much rather see a rookie get his lumps and learn than see a vet keep making the same mistakes. If the O.L. can run block and establish a consistent run game that will help Dak like any Q.B. Dak didn't cost us 49ers or G.B. games obviously we couldn't run or stop the run.

What happens if Trey Lance goes crazy in Preeason? They'll trade him for a low ball 4th round pick when in a year from now he'll be worth a top 1st. The Cowboys are stuck with Dak who lacks the mental wiring to win a playoff game. And Please stop with the "there's just 3 or 4 quarterbacks that win playoff games." Youngsters Brock Purdy, Jordan Love and C.J. Stroud already know how to win playoff games ... something Dak hasn't figured out in almost a decade.

Also, the best QBs don't always win the SB.they give u a damn good chance. You move on from your QB with hope that the new guy is good. No way Reid knew Pat was this. No way Bill knew Brady was this. I just think it’s simply comes to the Jones thinking that the drop off in production between Lance and Dak isn’t big enough to justify paying top 5 money to a qb they believe is overpaid or not worth top 5 money. If the Jones believed they could keep Dak at 40-45 milly a year they may even have not looked at Lance. Since Lance is younger, cheaper, and possibly a higher ceiling why not take the risk then pay top 5 money to a guy that they believe is at his ceiling and won’t get any better. The Jones are likely thinking that Lance could get to the postseason also if he has a good team around him and is developed. Sure trading Lance is also a possibility, but if it goes the Jones way, I don’t Lance is here to build draft capitol, they are looking for him to possibly replace Dak. I will say this; A-Rod sat behind Brett the same amount of time Love sat behind A-Rod. McCarthy sharpened up A-Rod.
