For those wondering, no, you cannot just set your name to Gaster when starting a new playthrough. (The game goes back to the opening crawl) You'll have to start (or continue) a run, save once, then you can close the game, edit file0 (your name will be on the top line) and you can set your name to Gaster there. Or you can just use Flowey's Time Machine, whichever one works for you.

fun fact: After returning to the game, the person Flowey called was not Chara but ourselves, from the beginning the name we gave was still the player's name, like in Neutral, Flowey can't talk to Chara because Frisk is outside the Barrier

Oh, yeah you probably named your character something that's too long to have normally (at the start menu, you can name your character but there's a letter limit, if you pass that letter limit with file0 then it will say that) hope this helps

Hate to break it to you, but True Resets are only unlocked after watching the credits. So if you were to Reset at any point before the end of the credits, then you would get a normal Reset.

If i had to guess, you would get the normal dialogue, seeing as you're not supposed to have the ability to call him on a Genocide run, and therefore having his number would have the game think he's alive, and therefore allow you to call him, yet he would actually be dead.

Well, it's because Toby didn't _intend_ for you to actually play with the name Gaster, so editing file0 to get it _after_ starting a run has the game run fine. But it'll try to do the reboot thing if you try to Reset. So you'd have to change it to something else before Resetting.

Hope my reply doesn't come across as mean, but Asriel doesn't know about Gaster :) Since the creator of this video changed their name to Gaster, Asriel said "Gaster's been gone for a long time now", but he just meant whatever you named your character to. I assume you know Chara, the "True Name", if you name your character Chara he will say "Chara's been gone for a long time now". If you already know this, please, ignore this reply Once again, though, I hope this is informational and not the start of an argument :)

It's a bit more complicated to set LV than it seems. But nothing happens, the game activates Genocide depending on if you've met all the requirements (see the UT Wiki for more info.) So even if you were to set your LV to 20 manually, and do a pacifist run, you'll still get the pacifist ending.

Oh and, if you try to reset, the game will restart right before the ''A name has already been chosen'' screen since the game will restart if you try to name yourself Gaster usually. If you wanna reset, you need to change your name in the files, reset and then you can change it back to Gaster if you so wish.

It's more complex than it seems. But doing that would have the game run normally (genocide isn't activated by LV, but rather by the KILLS stat) meaning you can get whatever ending you want. Not sure how much HP, ATK, or DEF, you'd set yourself with, but I think the HP stat truly caps around 110.
