I have 2013 CVO Breakout. I bought it with Dunlop front and rear. The rear tire wore out way before the end of the riding season. I went with Commander II on rear and only got one season out of it(barely, 4500 miles roughly). All while still running the front Dunlop (which made two seasons out of it). Performance of the bike never failed, even at higher speeds.

Don't mix tires is an out of date rule regarding not mixing cross-ply with radial ply. Doesn't apply any more. Same as don't ride in the middle of the lane because that's where the oil is, when did you last see a modern car or bike leaking oil.

I ran MCII's on my yamaha for 6 years. Just bought the first set for my Harley Road King. No tire better. Except maybe the MCIII"s.

2014 FLTHK - Bought used in May @ 25k / just hit 30k Going to run a "similar" setup (Am Elite Fr / Com III Rear). Wanting to switch completely to Com III's, but only have maybe 2k on the front tire, (had a nail & my mech just changed out to match the rear). Need a rear tire ASAP, not wanting to buy both! *HD shop in a nearby city has a GRT promo, (price match / free install) heading there tomorrow. Service guy I spoke to said running mixing brands was ok, has done many this summer, just don't mix radials & bias ply! Have been doing my research for the past week, Ramblin' Chris is correct - nada really out there on the web addressing this specific topic. MUCH appreciated for the video & opinion! **Probably won't do a video, but more than happy to report back here after I've put a few thousand miles on this tire setup or by end of yr (whichever comes first). THX Again Ramblin' Chris!

You're welcome, glad my video was helpful. I would definitely like to hear how your setup works out!

The only drawback I hear about are theoretical with respect to running both front and rear similar style tires such as cruiser, touring, sport touring. From my own theoretical perspective unless your running high performance, excessive speeds, your average street riding, law abiding rider shouldn’t have a problem... at least I have never heard of anyone crashing due to mix matched tires. It seems tire technology is excellent these days. Hard to see how running 2 excellent different brand tires will cause problems.

I threw a new tire away after 1 month it had no grip on the front wheel in a quick stop and I had enough as for switching brands I'll do both of them and see if I find improvements and perelli is the winner to date out of Dunlop,Metzler and perelli

Absolutely nothing wrong with mix match tires, especially if they are similar style!!

Have you felt any issues riding the Michelin in the rain from the time you’ve had them?
@ramblinchris4004 жыл бұрын
I've found them to be very stable in the rain. I ride just as hard and I've never felt them slip
