There has been ADC in my family, where my sister Kathleen saw our father together with my other sister Lizzie. Both had passed years earlier.

After my wife passed away I heard her say hello and then giggle right beside me. Then I occasionally have dreams of both of us going on walks together and being a real man I can never remember what we talked about 😂😂😂

Thank you Jimmy, keep up the good works. In my family, I'm the only one that hasn't experienced the ADC, when my parents passed away. All of my siblings have experienced seeing or talking to my parents in their dreams. I guess my parents know that I get scared easily and don't want me to be scared or have a heart attack 😅. I love your podcast Jimmy. It's inspiring and educational.

I've had ADCs from loved ones. Smelled Grandpa Fleury's cherry pipe tobacco in my kitchen not quite a year after he died. I was at the other end of the county and wasn't able to attend his funeral. We had exchanged letters regularly, and I was still mentally adding that to my daily agenda in the morning, then I'd remember he died. After he visited me, I was able to accept his death. Some years later, I dreamed I heard my deceased grandmothers and my baby's other great-grandmother, who died while I was pregnant with him. His fourth great-grandmother was still alive at the time. The three who were deceased frantically hollered at me to check the baby. I ignored it the first time, thinking it was just a dream, but when it happened again as soon as I fell asleep, I went to the nursery to check on him, and found him suffocating. His cry was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. His son is an adult now. He's only here because his great-great-grandmothers saved his Dad's life. I make sure they both know that.

Definitely more to the universe than what meets the eye. I have had multiple things like this out of nowhere. Not sure if it's my subconscious trying to process grief or real, but it has sort of helped.

This is silly but when I lost my first two cats, I would randomly see them where my mind would expect them to be, either walking or playing. When I lost my brother I saw him once in a dream doing regular stuff like nothing happened; yet my wife also saw him in a dream telling her everything was alright and to take care of his child (my niece). When I lost my grandma, I just dreamed of happier times. When I lost my dad, in life he told me he was proud of me, right before dying, and I didn't dream with him at all. How does one determine between this and just tricks your brain plays on you when you're in grief? Could part of this phenomenon be in part the need dot closure?

Sometimes ADCs happen years later when you're not in grief. And they're intense, more than you're capable of generating by taking thought

Hi Jimmy, not sure if you will see this. Former Adventist here. As Adventists we were warned CONSTANTLY not to believe in this and that anytime this kind of thing happens it is DEFINITELY a demon masquerading as your loved one. So this is a concept that makes me really uneasy. How do we safely determine if this is truly our departed loved one or a Demon trying to mislead us? How do we remain open to this happening while still being faithful to the command of God to avoid necromancy? Thank you for your ministry! God bless🙏🏼✝️✝️✝️
@JimmyAkin13 күн бұрын
Dear BlueTicks, it's understandable that Adventists would have this view since they believe that the soul does not have conscious experiences between death and resurrection. However, this is not what the Bible teaches, and it is not what the empirical evidence indicates. However, there is no necromancy in this. Necromancy is the attempt to get an oracle (manteia) from the dead (nekros), and in spontaneous ADCs, nobody conjuring the dead to get oracles from them. They just happen. If one is still concerned about the (remote) possibility of demonic trickery in such experiences, one only needs to apply 1 John 4 and *test* the spirits. If they tell you something contrary to the Christian faith, they are untrustworthy. Otherwise, take the event as the comforting experience it is meant to be. I hope this helps, and God bless you!

@@JimmyAkin How do you deduce that the possibility of "demonic trickery" is "remote?

@@JimmyAkin Thank you for the response! Yes that actually helps me a lot. Coming out of Adventism there has been A LOT to unpack.😅 I’m thankful to not have to view the Catholic Church as the Whore of Babylon anymore or worry about a “Sunday Law”. What a bunch of nonsense! God Bless you my dear brother.

I keep relearning not to talk to christians. Everything is demonic and unless you fly the world in a private jet, none of your experiences are godly

As a Catholic, I thought you just died, immediately got judged, and fell asleep until the resurrection for sentencing. I believe it's demons, not loved ones. Just my humble opinion

In my humble opinion, while these events may occur randomly, we must be careful not to misinterpret them. For instance, there is a common idea even in the modern church, that everyone “goes to heaven” once they die, that Hell is a mythological place like the devil and that if everyone on the other side is happy then purgatory cannot possibly exist. This is also the problem with ideations that might make us deny God, like the existence of aliens, flying saucers, etc. These are all things that make us question our Christian version of the world which may make us deny God altogether. In other words we should never underestimate the fact that we can be easily fooled by the fallen angels who are much smarter than us. They may tell us 99 truths in order to get us to believe 1 lie. Cheers.
