The Arizona portion of his career allows for a sequel. What he did in Arizona was AMAZING. Prior to Warner’s tenure, the Cardinals had never won the NFC, much less the Super Bowl. In fact, they had only made it to the playoffs 6 times despite being established in 1898. In Warner’s tenure, he led Arizona on 2 playoff runs, their only NFC championship, and their first trip to the Super Bowl. Absolutely incredible.

The problem for Arizona or well I guess Chicago/St Louis Cardinals was how you got to the Championship in the early days before a playoff bracket would be established. Specifically 1964, where they were half a game out of getting to the Championship but at the start of their season had to play 6 weeks on the Road due to the MLB St Louis Cardinals going on a World Series Run including a loss to Indy which would've sent them to the Championship had they won it. There was also a 10-4 Season under Don Coryell where they missed the Playoffs due to tying with Washington.

@david.j.sperling3 жыл бұрын
Not an underdog, Michigan, drafted, supported, team always built to succeed. Warner often had to re-prove himself, constant doubt...Brady is that guy in school doing everything to get the spot. Warner is the guy everyone wishes they routed for when the meet him at the reunion. Brady has been so protected it's obscene and smartly went to the team with the best pass protection line in football--Warner had to settle with the losing post season king of PROFESSIONAL SPORTS, not just the NFL...and still fight to get past that entitled brat Leinert -- got through 2 coaches--and then pulled that team to it's feet. The story is so much better when you look deeper. The NFL pushes this happy story narrative like they all believed in him...Not true, they left for the Cleveland Browns to take in the expansion draft. Warner's time in STL was ruined by Martz who fell in love with Warner's ability/and the offense--abandoned the run....Warner got lit up and sent out of town...If he had Brady's situation...OMG...that would be amazing. On the other hand, if Brady had to play in Warner's shoes, he wouldn't be an underdog...he'd be underground. Kinda weird Brady is putting out this documentary--he produced--trying to control all aspects of his narrative.

St louis boy here! I was so excited when we got the Rams. I still have my Orlando Pace rookie jersey in my closet to this day! This was the most exciting season of football I ever expected in my life! To watch the greatest show on turf was amazing. Then to watch Mike Martz piss it all away made me physically ill. I remember watching that Giants game yelling at my TV because Kurt was clearly concussed out of reality yet Martz left him out there to suffer.

I remember that 2008 season well. I had tiny hope that my 49ers could scratch and claw at a wild card berth with Singletary but once they were eliminated, I went all in on Kurt Warner and his amazing career comeback. Despite the loss, what a valiant effort. I remember that following that game, Warner held the #1 and #2 most passing yards in Super Bowl until Brady (obviously) took both spots.

You glossed over why Kurt was replaced in his last game against the Saints......a cheap shot, blind side block that concussed him....ending his career.
@david.j.sperling3 жыл бұрын
Yeah--I thought he was done after that hit...I followed Kurt's career from moment one--was a Rams fan and they stunk forever--13 being my favorite number--never hearing of this guy--did the Seahawks trade their running back -- WHAT THE---?! Out of nowhere--the guy didn't have a football card--but he was on a box of cereal...They didn't want to keep him but they started him week one after Green got ruined by Rodney Harrison--who basically created Warner with that hit. It's all the mythic stuff of legends...then to end getting exorcised right there in the middle of the field. And for the record at one time, Warner had #1, #2, #3 in yards thrown in a Superbowl all time...and put his team on top when he went to the sidelines in each game...if the defense held, like they did against the Titans, he's be 3-0 in the SB...and maybe the Patriots would have traded the pedestrian Brady at that time to someone who doesn't max protect--for draft picks to support his team, like he does--and Brady would have had to face some pocket pressure like everyone else and we could see what he's really made of...Defensive tackles with pressure up the middle that's how you beat Brady...Warner would get crushed...Thank God for being able to find his head, screw it back on, and give you an amazing post murder sack QB rating. Brady is Rocky at the beginning of Rocky III and Warner is Rocky at the end of Rocky III.
