What happens when I actually listen?
Extract from the tenth conversation with Allan W. Anderson in San Diego, 1974.

This channel is managed by the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust, UK, and by the Krishnamurti Foundation of America.
The role of the foundations was described by Krishnamurti when he said, 'The foundations will see to it that these teachings are kept whole, are not distorted, are not made corrupt. They will not give rise to any sectarian spirit in their activities... nor create any kind of place of worship around the teachings or the person.'
We maintain extensive archives of Krishnamurti's original works and all four Krishnamurti foundations are actively engaged in the publication of material in various forms.
Our videos contain thousands of subtitles in more than 25 languages, translated by volunteers from all over the world. If you would like to help us with translating subtitles, please contact us at digital@kfoundation.org

🎶I see trees of green, red roses too I see them bloom for me and you And I think to myself what a wonderful world I see skies of blue and clouds of white The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night And I think to myself what a wonderful world The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky Are also on the faces of people going by I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do They're really saying I love you I hear babies crying, I watch them grow They'll learn much more than I'll never know And I think to myself what a wonderful world Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world 🎶

the concept was similar to when we perform meditation but in this conversation he actually explaining the act of listening while being actively awake in a situation, i have a decent experience in meditation and when we truly listen without interfering into what we are listening, at early stage we only hear the sound or noise but after sometime at certain stages we may felt like we are actually seeing and hearing at the source of the sound/noise at the same time, and if this is prolonged for sometime, it will or course lead to the 'total silence' which is the stages that a very small percent people in the world can consciously attain. From experience i can say the reason to do this or practice on this act is to open the body/mind to the new dimensions that human usually refer to vibrational dimension, when stepped into that dimension, when we hear a voice or any statement by people we wont just hearing the word or statement but we are at the sametime looking at the essence of the voice, the body, thought and mind of the speaker are observed indirectly without even looking at the person, and people in this states can easily hear the thought, heart of others almost all the time without even focusing on them, just a subtle sound from them is enough or not necessary. This will surely transform anyone amazingly, just like J said to its create a miracle, and the miracle is endless.

Listening is so automated that it is correlated with verbally understanding a sentence. What Krishnamurti is referring to is to go on knocking down automatisms (denying them), psychic molds, allowing oneself the freedom that such a thing can happen. I listen to someone who tells me: "I do not share your opinion, I am in favor of making an effort and looking for my place, without being cowed". I hear it in that way they used to tell us in school, "going up in the clouds", I would almost say rambling, almost forgetting the person (an "I") in front of you. Then, that dialogue generates something, something complex, but round, without tensions; it includes all the logical movement of thought, be careful! it is simultaneous, all that "rambling listening" is nothing more than the glimpse to the undivided totality of the now. The implicate order, in the words of David Bohm, the cosmic intelligence. A voice in this ethereal and timeless reality, says: "opinions! We live by opinions! And what about the opinion-generating mechanism, i.e. thought? Would it be coherent to focus on opinions about it? Once we reach this absurd dialogue, wouldn't time itself come to an end, because we would fall into the now? From an innocuous and boring dialogue, pure creativity has sprung. A new order has been created.😊

Dont give any meaning to the words.. Just listen completely and totally without you and your mind trying to understand and grasp it.. Trying to know whether the statement is true or false.. In just listening you dont have any conflicts.. Is that what he meant? If its so.. To my experience thats true for me.. 👍🏻

It means that you were analysing and forming your own opinion on that topic and having your own thoughts which make you not listen properly. To listen means to completely free yourself from your thoughts and give total attention to the sound. Be it good or bad, you are neither attached nor there is any kind of objection. Just like how you see the sky without telling yourself that it is the sky you are looking at. To form no words is one's capacity to observe without concluding.

No you listened it perfectly if you paid attention.. But you didn't understand anything.. Its what he says dont try to understand, agree or disagree just listen to it with full attention all your energy.. And he laughs and says in that listening there's no conflict theres absolute silence and "oneness"

He was trying to make the listener aware about his/her true being(consciousness). The art of seeing n listening is in this context of JK.Please don't worry just listen anything but be choicelessly aware about the sound or words.Don't let the past(knowledge or known)interfere.Thats all 🙏🙇

why do you ask this question? is that because you want to say: "i don't understand this conversation". two possibilities: - this video is too hard or - he is talking nonsense. For the first one, it means your mind was thinking something when you were listening (has screen between you and speaker). The second one is you just want to prove yourself.

There is one word that replaces the words 'opinion', 'conclusion', 'belief', 'values', 'bias', 'prejudice', 'experience' and the other synonyms - that word is 'filter'. We do not see the world as it is, we see the world as we are. We see the world as per our filters. We are the architects of our filters and therefore we are what we observe - the observer is the observed.

I don't get it in the end, Isn't it the case that if you're "really" hearing what's being said, then you won't actually understand anything since beauty, passion , suffering are also all concepts that come from your knowledge, experiences etc? You would just be hearing noises. What am I missing?

I cannot say what K. exactly intended, since no one really can and we all must try to understand in our own way, but I will give you my impression: what K. is trying to convey has nothing to do with seeing, hearing, listening or any other actions, but talking of that gave him a venue to explain something more important. All his life's work(interviews, seminaries, books) has been dedicated to achieving a different state of conscience, void of the interference of the mind, and to try to help others do the same. He was not interested in "teaching" as we intend it, since that would mean to instill his ideas in the mind of others, which he found abhorrent. In all his words there is a subtle meaning, not intended for our conscious mind but for our "other", higher self. By the way, I like your honesty and inquisitivness 😉

You are not missing anything.. Yes Everything is just noise.. If u constantly hear noises and you dont give meanings to that noise.. And you dont mind if theres noise or no noise...You will go beyond that noise which is "Silence"

No, it means you don't care about the statement (beauty, passion, sorrow). but you ask why does that man say that statement. Then your mind will not be affected by any concept in statement (true or false). It means your mind totally be free with statements.

You're missing to feel the depth of what he's saying. You're just holding onto words superficially, and logically comparing it and forming conclusion.

But anyone making any statement has his/her own lenses, so how will I perceive anything without any leases at all. In a way there should be no interpretation, just the statement as it is needs to be seen but I think (I could be wrong completely) you can't perceive anything without lenses, our biology does not allow us to have raw experience.
