Me and my wife are pro ebayers. Most of our thrifting is from retail arbitrage. Mainly Walmart. The last year or so has been real tough sourcing products from there. You really have to get lucky to find that sweet markdown. Lately it hasn't been there. We've gotten real crafty with thrifting now. Yard sales. Thrift stores (not boutiques) like Salvation Army and Goodwill. We find we have way better ROIs and more sales.

Walmart and retail arbitrage seems like an Amazon only game. I can go to ten thrift stores and buy something from each. I can go to ten Walmarts and find nothing. I am a reseller but the normal every day items are sucking our finances. Groceries are around 50-100% more in a year. I had to put a transmission in my truck that was $7000 when just a few years ago when I had one put in was only $2500. A fuel line was leaking in our suburban and was $1500 to fix. @@Nickinatorz The politicians fucked up big time with two things Over printing money during COVID lockdown while the economy was dead, then printing even more money to "jump start" the economy. Getting involved in another useless proxy war with Russia, (who do you think is footing the bill for Ukraine?) Russia being one of the largest producers of energy in the world who also has ties with other big energy producing giants like Saudia and etc. (The world runs on oil and gas, if those go up on price, then everyone goes up.) Put the two together and you have a horrible economy full of debt and no inflation. So really blame your own politicians and the people who voted for them for all this. If you think the reasons I listed aren't the real cause, you are just in denial. I know Peter is in denial, because he is Polish and he wants to see the world burning just to settle some 1789 grudges with his neighbors in eastern Europe and the rest are woke Democrat sheep who believe whatever they hear on the news.

The inflation and economy issues are harsh. People are having a hard time just getting by, using credit, and to make matters worse the cost of credit increases, to keep the vicious cycle going. I hope your sales are also up the same percentage or more of your COGS amount to offset the extra costs. It's a great thing you're able to do for people in their time of need. Great video as always. Have a fantastic weekend.

Hey Peter yes The black community knows all about Harold chicken with the # because even though the # stands for the store it also informed the consumers who fried the best chicken.. we use to say ( go to Harold # 16 because they fried better chicken or go Harold #2 because they had the best cole slaw) Harold was a staple on the south side especially in the 80’s the franchise was the Popeyes for the community. Harold was mostly based in Englewood , Roseland, south shore and Harvey. At the time this restaurant was our go to store for chicken. But along came Popeyes, Church’s chicken, Brown’s chicken, Kentucky fried chicken and others and Harold’s chicken Demise came about. Harold’s chicken was not a corporation but investors buying into the brand. So yes Peter you have a vintage sign that all the black communities know about. 👍🏻 Plus your sign was the very first logo because later they changed the logo with a chef with a hatchet chasing the chicken so you have the first original logo then came the chef logo chasing the chicken.. A terrific find you have ! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The prices at our local Goodwill have gone up almost 100% in the last year. I spoke with the manager about the price increase. She told me it's to prevent people from buying things and reselling them for a profit. We've all done that from time to time, but people started making KZbin videos about it and ruined everything.

Why do the CEOs of goodwill feel like they need to prevent people from making money ? They're obviously not doing it to stay in business since there's literally no cost involved with running besides paying rent for a shop and paying their few employees.

Can you imagine what it would cost Goodwill to change their business model to be able to track and quantify the secondary and tertiary sales of their items so they can price their inventory to reflect the profitability of something once it leaves the store? Talk about managing to the exception-

I lived in Chicago at the turn of the century. My dear friend owned an antiques, art and frame shop on Lincoln Ave. Even then, he talked about "the old days" wistfully....that the market for vintage was already in decline even 20+ years ago. His store was called SteveStarrStudio and he was quite a character. He had a wicked sense of humor and an unerring eye for all things art deco. Chicago is truly the greatest city for sheer volume of vintage and all things unusual and beautiful.

I assume it's important to take into consideration that it might not be about the current admin, but about multiple admins for decades. At least since the dollar became "worthless", when the Gold standard had been abolished - basically a theft to the whole world who held $$$ for the gold guaranteed for it. Looking at "inflation" from the perspective that the currency looses value is important to me. Monster of Jekyll Island?

Inflation is crazy, like, I have gone back to buying beans/rice/ramen like I used to in college (which was 25+ years ago.) The inflation is artificial, spurred by corporate greed. I have my own repair business and have not raised my flat rate repair price in 8 years. I don't think I ever will.

It’s not just corporate. It’s almost every business doing it. Most your local small businesses are doing it too and blaming inflation for the price increases. Yeah inflation has increased operating costs but most businesses are taking advantage of that at same time. We need a good recession to end it.
