For example, if you’d chosen squirtle, then gary would choose bulbasaur, leaving Oak with charmander. When you fight him in this scenario, he’ll have a charizard on his team.

Really disappointed and somewhat surprised Giga Mac wasn't in the game officially. They'll give us DK kidnapping Little Mac into his unmarked white van, but no Giga Mac fight?! C'mon! Nintendo is all about their Dark Links and Shadow Marios! It would have been very simple to implement too. Simply make the fights against Little Mac be him doing mental training against himself (where you can get a feel for dodging, various attacks you have, blocking, etc) that he can do anytime; basically a repeatable tutorial and generic training. The Giga Mac fight I'd make the most challenging in the game and only after you become the champ, defended your title, and shoved DK into a barrel and shipped him back to the Congo. In the final fight, Little Mac has a dream where he fights Giga Mac; a mental manifestation of Little Mac's brutality that he has to quite literally beat in order to keep himself in check or else he'd be no different than Bald Bull, a beast; not a champion...I just thought these up on the fly. Shame they didn't do it. Wanted my boy to get more love and respect. Little Mac embodies the heart of the underdog. He deserved more than he actually got.

This is because of a bug in RBY that means the game only looks at one type when displaying the super effective message. It did neutral damage, but the game read it as super effective. This has no effect on gameplay, it's just a text error. Also, Charizard IS weak to Ice in RBY because Fire didn't resist Ice in generation one. Fire had it ROUGH in gen one.
