Hilarious and related to this video story for you Broncos Guru! My good friend does insurance; one day a customer calls him up with a claim; the story goes as follows from the customer: My wife and I were launching our boat. I (the husband) had backed the boat into the water *almost* enough to launch the boat. I got my wife into the drivers seat while I jumped into the boat, so she could back me in the final few feet, and launch the boat. My wife panicked and smashed the gas in reverse and drove the whole truck and trailer into the drink.... As the truck was still floating, my wife asked (drivers window was open) "what do I do?"... The husband telling the story to my buddy said, "I really wanted to say - just roll the window up honey!". Nobody was hurt and the claim was paid lol.

The people in front of me at the boat launch stupidly didn't hold on to lines and the boat drifted off after it left his trailer. I was next so the guy ran over and asked me to help so I quickly launched my boat to go after him, which went pretty well until after he had gotten off of my boat onto his when I realized I'd stupidly neglected to put the boat plug in before launching so we had taken on a lot of water. Fortunately I got the plug in and we took the boat into the main lake (low in the stern but still ok) opened it up and got on plane and I pulled the plug back out and most of the water drained. Disaster averted but lessons learned the hard way.

If you can't afford the proper equipment, you can't afford the thing. Like snow tires and oil changes in cars, fresh tires on motorcycles, fire suppression in a race car, whatever it is, there's a bare minimum requirement that's much higher than "that guy" is able to satisfy, but still insists on bringing it. I tell my kids, expect to spend $1k a year maintaining that vehicle because if it's not oil changes, it's brakes, tires, coolant changes, evap leak, something will always be there even in electric cars. If you make it through the year with that $1k intact, roll it over because the next year it'll be something even bigger.

Emergency brakes are not designed to hold in reverse! If you don’t put it in park or put it in first gear with the engine off, you are a candidate for a dunking. When a friend bought a truck and told the dealer he was going to haul a boat with it, the dealer had the mechanics give him a little talk. The one thing that they said over and over is that the emergency brake on the Ford diesel would not hold with a large load in reverse. And that if he dunked it by being stupid, warranty would not cover it. He didn’t listen and was lucky. He was still sitting in the drivers seat when the brake let go. Got his foot on the brake real fast. Put it in park and reset the brake. Just barely didn’t dunk the truck. Lesson learned.

If you find yourself stuck trying to get out, put the boat back in, and drop the trailer in the water. Get the tow vehicle out, then get the trailer, and make the attempt the right way. High tide is a really good time to go ashore, because the higher part of the tide zone is not that slippery. The low side is almost always slick. The other possibility is, if the boat is trailered, start the motor and give it just a little forward throttle to push the tow vehicle into the dry area. Yes, it might make a mess of the bottom, but that's tiny compared to the mess a sunken fuel tank, coolant system, and oil reservoir can make.

Towing with FWD isn't a great idea, but towing a boat with FWD is even worse. You're going to have to pull that boat up the potentially steep slick ramp with the tongue weight taking weight off your drive wheels. It can be done, but know your ramp and have somebody available to pull you up the ramp the first time, maybe even put a receiver on the front so you have more weight on your drives.
