Great vid as always my man. I did cringe when you didn't take the tubliss insert and inner bladder out for cleaning before reinstalling the tire though. I've been running Tubliss in the rear, with zero issues for about 3 years now. Absolutely love it. BUT... if I get a flat and any dirt at all gets inside the tire, I always remove the inner liner and HP bladder to clean all the dirt out thoroughly. If there is any dirt, or worse small little rocks, in there... there are two possible issues: 1. After installing the new tire, you could end up with a slow leak because the there is dirt between the tubliss liner and the tire bead... which is super frustrating. 2. If there is enough dirt, or a small rock, that gets down in between the rim and the inner high pressure bladder, it could potentially cause a rupture in the high pressure bladder and cause catastrophic failure. ( I've never allowed that to happen in the rear, but it happend to me once in the front, and ended my ride) I love Tubliss in the rear. Primarily running with heavier walled tired like the M5B. Good experience with VE33S Gekkota too. I did run it with a Kenda IBEX gummy in the Virginia City Grand Prix once also, as an experiment, at 10 psi, and it felt great, and had no damage to my rim. Totally destroyed the gummy in that kind of fast, tire spinning, race of course though.

This is the same combo I have been running M5B and Tubliss. Coincidentally I have a home just across highway 247 from Hammertown and do most all my riding in that area. I have to say that your video is an excellent overview and a great advertisement for Tubliss and how amazingly strong that system is. I tried running bib mousse and quite frankly I don’t know why anybody other than a professional racer would want to run a Mousse. No system is perfect of course but having used both I feel Tubliss is far better for the average rider. The advantages of Tubliss are so many including weight, feel, adjustability, proper suspension working, etc. Keep making these great vids! And yes...are you insane??? That tire is DONE!!!

In my opinion Tubliss saved the day for you. And it is still working. You should have taken it completely apart and cleaned it. There could be abrasive material in there that might cause a failure. I run tubliss on all 3 of my dirt bikes, only had one failure and that was last week due to a Pirelli bead wire breaking off and puncturing the inner bladder tube. Pictures in my IG.

In my experience, Tires with Soft sidewalls just dont gel all that well with tubliss. Tubliss seems to work best on tires with some stiff hold up if you run them super low, like the VE33s or GT333. The IX-09W is a better tire with a mousse over tubliss, for me anyways. I had issues with that carcass holding air on tibliss....

@@TrailBoundco it shouldn't slowly leak. In that case spray it with soapy water to find the leak and plug it if you can. I've been running the m5b with tubliss for a while and I've never had any leak issues I couldn't plug!

I agree 100% with your overall point, but I consider a GT333 medium stiffness at best. It is firm enough for Tubliss but I think a Shinko 505 is a better match (even though the 333 is an otherwise superior tire).

Hey there. I really enjoy your videos and your a heck of a rider. I run tubliss on my bike and my sons bike. He has gotten a good bit faster than me and i will have to move him to bibs. I called and spoke with the guys at nuetech before i bought tubliss and he recommended the shinko 525 cheater due to the strength of the sidewall and we have had pretty good luck with Kendas but haven't tried their gummies. For what its worth we live and ride in North GA... rocks, roots, snotty red clay, dust over hard pack. For you, i think your speed means you need to go to the bibs. Tubliss is great for us slower riders but your speed will be a little more than they can handle. Also, 0 psi can bite you as you found out. Keep up the great videos and riding. Cheers

Trailbound co Hey Trailbound. My last ride was the last Sunday in January. I just went to check psi. I set my tire with 7 to 8 psi that day and with the check I just did, it was at 5.7 psi. Some leakage but it’s been over a month. Acceptable for me. I mountain bike with tires set up tubeless as well and they leak down faster. Even using Stan’s no tube liquid for the mtb tires. It may be influenced on the amount of soapy water used during the set up. Hope this helps.

I feel like whenever you run 20-30 miles at 0 psi on a tire they are pretty done even if you can air them back up. It's like the side walls loose all their stiffness and they don't feel right. The last tire I ran flat for 35ish miles started to separate between the sidewall and knobs.

I'd definitely recommend the 130/80 size for your next go with the M5B EVO. The 130-140 sizes use a significantly softer compound than the 110-120 sizes that's in my opinion much more versatile. The 130/80 size is also comparable to a 110/100 size just with taller knobs. A 250 2 stroke will pull a 130/80 M5B evo, albeit with less wheelspin than normal. As far as your question at the end of the video, the Shinko 216MX/SX 140 fatty gummy rear is a no go with tubliss. The carcass is just too soft/prone to tears.

I've run plenty of D37 desert races on a flat before I had enough and went mousse. I always double rim locked my rear and I could pretty much run at race speed. In fact I got a rear flat in the first couple miles of a time keeper enduro and was still able to zero the loop and change it out for the second loop at the break. That being said, the tires were junk at the end, and unfortunately they were usually new of course :(

@infidelmat 3 жыл бұрын
Lucky that the bladder didn't get messed up, or the tire completly fails (I had my inner bladder shoot out the tire after the rim lock failed after 40km). I found some tires don't run flat well at all (Shinko 505 525, Kenda Ibex) due to softer sidewalls, where dessert tires (like At81RC) are stiff enough to support the tire.

They way you ride, chug, chug and up the cliff he goes...setup a some race wheels (maybe from your spare bike) with the 120/100 Ibex and a soft Nitro mousse on both ends. No pump, tire plugs, glue, tire irons, or air gauge to carry. Less = more. Tubliss is cool for most riding but it can fail in competition and it's too weak for hard enduro racing at your level. Tire failure is not an option! LOL Good luck!

@@TrailBoundco I agree 1000%. I will take a measurable & consistent feel in my tires for my given terrain 100% of the time over just eliminating flats. @musicbox4022
@musicbox4022 4 жыл бұрын
Have you tried them? I’ve tried HD tubes, tubeless, tube saddles, and nitros. I live here in the mountains of Colorado, and the mousse is the only way to go... endless sharp choppy rocks. I was skeptical about nitros too but I will never look back. I should mention I’m a larger rider at 220lbs. Anytime I can eliminate a worry on these gnarly rides.. and still achieve incredible performance.. no brainer. They’re the best thing I’ve tried. The new nitros are much more durable too. One rear nitro lasts me 3 new rear tires. I will gladly pay to never worry about fixing some tire in the middle of nowhere or trying to ride out on a flat... ruining my day, and potentially my whole trip. I also love NOT carrying tire irons and pumps and tubes and plugs and slime and lug wrenches in my pack. Of course, I only get to do 2-3 epic trips per year with 3-4 long days out per trip... so if something stupid like a flat were to ruin my trip again.. what a waste. Of course- I don’t like to bring multiple tires on my trips either. less things in my long camping list, less tools/weight on my back, less tires in my trailer... but perhaps most of all- total piece of mind. Chris- I believe you would have placed much better in that last race had you not been screwing around with your tire... I think you’re awesome and I wanna see you win the shit!!

I ride hard enduro, I run tubliss, and on my 1st race last season I raced KTM 300 with Mitas 1 Green Line & Tubliss and it ruined it, I had the same experience, 10 minutes in the race, then pluged it 3 times and as soon as I needed to be on the pipe to do a hill climb the plug would come out and I would be on a flat. Mitas Green line EF-07 in Europe, is too soft to run 0psi. Since then I only run tubliss on my practice bikes and mousses on my racing bikes. I have a youtube channel, it is in Bulgarian, but here you can see the SAME problem you had but with Mitas and as you can see from the tyre, it is 5 minutes into riding. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWSmdaB7pr2Mh6c Mital ef-07 works exceptionally well and it is a great tyre. I run in on all of my bikes.

Dude. If you’re going to race throw that tubliss shit away. Get mousse.
