You touched upon a very important topic for me on the very end of the video and that is how Pride is becoming a celebration and how we should be more grateful. Unfortunately in a lot of countries it still feels like a protest even if it is an organised event. Here in Croatia, just a little over 10 years ago there was only a Parade in our capital city of Zagreb. The second city to do a Pride Parade was Split, and people were being literally stoned by those who didn't support it. It was crazy. We have come a long way since and now have Pride Parades in 5 major cities on Croatia. I can't imagine anything like that happening today.

I want them to find out about Order of the Good Death and death positivity! I think they’d really appreciate knowing there are many other options besides embalming and open caskets funerals in big expensive caskets. Dead bodies aren’t inherently traumatizing but seeing somebody look so unrecognizable is the scary part. But I love when they talk about those kinds of topics sm !

Hi funeral goer here, when I was a teenager I had two friends die and each had an open casket funeral. The worst part is they both died gruesome ways. One was murdered (strangled) and the other unalived himself with a gun. So yes two 16 year old boys in a open casket within one year of each other like that? Horrible, I've never been the same. Now I'm scared forever it is not comforting

As a teen my friend did it with a rope but at his funeral he was, just a box(urn). It still feels like he just moved away and switched numbers. It’s hard imagining him as “never seen again”. My grandpa had frostbite all over his face and it was so weird seeing him like that It’s really so life changing seeing someone you love look DIFFERENT. So sorry you had 2 teen deaths nothings more life changing than losing a young friend❤

About open caskets, I was 100% with you and always hated when people would come up and say oh they look so good, no they don't they look like silly putty people. That is until my Grandma passed earlier this year, she'd been on high flow oxygen for over a week and had big red patches on her nose and mouth in the hospital and looked terrible. She looked more like herself in the casket then she had in weeks, and I finally understood it. I still don't love it but it made me why some people like it for closure.

I have permanent nerve damage from throwing up & a lot of emotional trauma from being frightening ill in the guts back in 2020. My grandpa was one of 15 kids, so I’ve been going to funerals for as long as I can remember, and most of them have been open casket. It used to freak me out, but my mom always explained it as closure for people that they’re for sure not alive and here on earth anymore. It is like some sort of closure that they’re seeing the physical body without the soul/true essence of a person so you can move on. At this point I’m kind of indifferent and used to it, but when I was in 5th grade, someone not related to us kissed my dead aunt Brenda on the lips during the viewing, and I cried, so I mean maybe y’all are right and it’s crazy lol

Casket: so when I was younger and going through a lot my grandmother died. It was her time. My parents had a open casket wake and then of course the funeral was the next day. I was into my addiction at that time and I was not the best granddaughter but seeing her and the casket gave me the closure I needed. As soon as I saw her, my parents embraced me and I bawled. I got closure. It can be a cathartic experience...

The reason vomiting is extra painful (beyond the physiological fact that your stomach is contracting like crazy) is that it makes you associate what made you puke (eg eating something bad) with extreme negative effects - negative reinforcement ; which is very likely to make you avoid it next time. (also fun fact: vomit makes you want to puke as well because communities are likely to eat the same things and so it is a proactive way of getting it out before it makes any more damage. Edit: ah Trixie said it herself haha. BUT WAIT THERES MORE: they think yawning/stretching is contagious because it is often a reflex when tired / when feeling danger, which causes you to both perk up, and stretch your body muscles so you are warmed up to run away if necessary, along with your community)

A sad and rotten movie fact about "Planet Terror" with Rose McGowan: Rose dated director of the movie at the time Robert Rodriguez and she told him that she was assaulted by Weinstein which was very topical since the movie was produced by Weinstein's company. Robby boy, I guess decided to be "the avenger" for Rose and wrote in that scene where Tarantino's character is about to r*** Rose while basically rotting, melting and turning into this disgusting creature and then being killed by Rose. He meant it as an insult to Weinstein who apparently got the "reference" and acted awkward around Rob and Rose afterwards. But Rose felt betrayed by Rob because she tells him she was r*** and then he goes ahead and writes in a r*** scene for her. Good intentions, bad execution. Sit down, Robert 🤦‍♀️

Thank the gay gods they've finally figured out that a couple of plants will hide the light switches, after weeks of them trying different subtle camera angles and seat placements. Trixie and Katya - helping me with my OCD and general mental health. Eventually. 💖💖💖

@ 5:23 as someone who literally just went to the services for my dead friend TWO DAYS AGO where the family had chosen to do an open casket, i can safely say that it was fully traumatizing and i needed this laugh today. thank you ladies

My aunt swore that if she was put in an open casket at her funeral she would sit up voice her disgust and close the darn lid herself. Her children were smart and planted her before the church service.

Not to bring down the ~vibes~, but it was actually super helpful to see my mom done up in the open casket format believe it or not. Cause otherwise my last image of her would be the moment she died, which was awful and sad. Though I can totally understand the sentiment of seeing a dead body can be traumatizing, it was very helpful for my family and I’s closure. Maybe not for everyone else who wasn’t there for the worst of it though. Love the pod, hope you win!
