You touched upon a very important topic for me on the very end of the video and that is how Pride is becoming a celebration and how we should be more grateful. Unfortunately in a lot of countries it still feels like a protest even if it is an organised event. Here in Croatia, just a little over 10 years ago there was only a Parade in our capital city of Zagreb. The second city to do a Pride Parade was Split, and people were being literally stoned by those who didn't support it. It was crazy. We have come a long way since and now have Pride Parades in 5 major cities on Croatia. I can't imagine anything like that happening today.

This is very personal, but for me an open casket helps me internalize that the person is not in that body anymore. Helps me separate who they were from what's in front of me, and helps me process death a bit better. That said Ive only seen people who were not in a bad state when they died, I don't think I'd be the same if they were in an accident and didn't look like themselves anymore.

Seeing a body in a casket is jarring but it is really good for closure. Also, I think the reason people say things like “he looks good” is to somewhat to break the tension but also because the body is so clearly NOT your loved one, it’s just a body, the person is definitely NOT in the room. Seeing the body makes that crystal clear.

I do Microblading: It’s a pigment that is scratched below the epidermis*. It can last about 18 months. 5 to 6 weeks after that you’ll need to go back for a touch up. Always looks super dark before it peels. It’s not a tattoo. Tattoos go below the dermis. Good luck!! 😊 *corrected

About open caskets, I was 100% with you and always hated when people would come up and say oh they look so good, no they don't they look like silly putty people. That is until my Grandma passed earlier this year, she'd been on high flow oxygen for over a week and had big red patches on her nose and mouth in the hospital and looked terrible. She looked more like herself in the casket then she had in weeks, and I finally understood it. I still don't love it but it made me why some people like it for closure.

Hi funeral goer here, when I was a teenager I had two friends die and each had an open casket funeral. The worst part is they both died gruesome ways. One was murdered (strangled) and the other unalived himself with a gun. So yes two 16 year old boys in a open casket within one year of each other like that? Horrible, I've never been the same. Now I'm scared forever it is not comforting

My grandpa was one of 15 kids, so I’ve been going to funerals for as long as I can remember, and most of them have been open casket. It used to freak me out, but my mom always explained it as closure for people that they’re for sure not alive and here on earth anymore. It is like some sort of closure that they’re seeing the physical body without the soul/true essence of a person so you can move on. At this point I’m kind of indifferent and used to it, but when I was in 5th grade, someone not related to us kissed my dead aunt Brenda on the lips during the viewing, and I cried, so I mean maybe y’all are right and it’s crazy lol

That's awful, I'm so sorry. I had a similar thing with my grandfather, he was a big tall joyful jokester and the last time I saw him his eyes were sewn shut and his body had obviously been stuffed with something then it was like his legs were gone UGH it was so bad. Thank God for photos so we can remember loved ones in their glory ❤

@@Qu33nMary444yes what is even the point? its more dehumanising and inhuman than burning it or just leaving it as is, it feels so disrespectful to just staple you dead dad's throat shut. But I guess on the other hand I'd rather have his eyes shut than open, imagine that imagery

I’m so sorry for your traumatic experiences, modern funeral homes try their best to do the minimalist stitches needed & makeup that looked normal and as remembered. I can’t imagine seeing my grandpa with his eyes sewn shut (his eyes were closed tho but it looked normal) that seems scary like Coraline idk when they stopped doing that😢

I was in an open-casket funeral once (and never again if I can help it) and it was behind a crystal, like a shop's window! AND THE CASKET WAS ELEVATED and surrounded by flowers. It was WAY too much.

Problem with open casket is sometimes they have to glue the mouth shut if you die with your mouth open. My father's mouth had to be glued shut.

It would certainly add an interesting "dynamic" to the proceedings, at any rate!
