I'm from Buchanon's hometown and grew up near his estate. Dude was 100% gay and trying to be lowkey. I've been on a lot of historical tours all over PA and lemme tell ya, Buchanon's house was locally famous for being decorated much more... "fabulously" than his contemporaries in Lancaster and York PA. He themed the North entrance after a New England estate and the South entrance after a southern plantation, and guests would be brought in via whatever side he thought matched their vibe

Fun fact about Thomas Jefferson and Autism: likely due to autistic tendencies, Jefferson had one of the second-most impressive coin collections in the United States, just shy of Teddy Roosevelt, who was famously a huge coin collector.
@danielflanard8274
@danielflanard8274 Ай бұрын
Being the president I bet creates one of the best chances at having a personal collection be preserved after death. I hope that both of their collections were/are kept intact somewhere in a museum or government archive. Who knows how many prized coin collections are broken up and sold off by relatives after the death of their curators.

Eleanor Roosevelt only stayed with FDR because he promised he would never see Mercer again, both to Eleanor and his mother. His daughter knew they were still seeing one another up until his death. The second attempt on fords life by Sarah Moore was stopped because of Oliver Sipple. A decorated marine and Vietnam combat vet. He had helped wrestle the weapon from her. Mr. Sipple was outted in the press for being a homosexual and the news coverage turned his life upside down. It caused his employer to fire him, his relatives to abandon him. It turned his life upside down. He started drinking heavily and it helped contribute to his rising mental health issues that would ultimately lead to his passing. Pretty sad ultimatum for a man who saved the POTUS’s life.

@TheRatManBob That sounds great. If I might throw an idea out for you to consider, Sam Houston was adopted by one of our headmen by the name of John Jolly. In doing a story about Sam Houston, a fascinating character, you could toss in a bit about the Cherokees back then and still cover one of the most important people in US and Texas history. Just a thought. Another extremely important person in US history is Will Rogers, also a Cherokee. We get around, you know? Again, just throwing ideas out for you. Be well.
