I went to the NYS fair for the first time ever in 2016, didn't go last year, highly considering going again this year! I'm looking forward to finding out what this year's fair exclusive milkshake flavor Strong Hearts is going to do (I was so sad I missed out on my favorite flavor ever, cake batter, last year)! I had no idea dippin dots had vegan flavors, so thank you for that! I heard Dr. Vegetable might have vegan options/a separate fryer available too? Not sure on that, but I think I'll check this year because I'm always down for fried veggie treats. :)

All the state fairs look the same. You get the expensive lemonade and then have to go find a food truck. I ended up spending $10 on a tamale with no taste or sauce, and some rice and beans that was mostly just white rice. But it is the same thing, a bunch of booths, portable rides, and then some concerts.

Babu don't forget the animal exploitation
@Babu-kr3cr7 жыл бұрын
That is true. I felt so bad watching an elephant give people rides while the trainer kept hooking him and yelling at him. Then the trainer shot me a hostile look like he thought I was going to report him. But the elephant was so smart. He didn't have to take all that, he just didn't know what else to do. Elephants are probably smarter than we are. I never saw that guy there again. There is a lot of livestock and every year I feel worse looking at them. Even the cute bunnies in the cages for 4-H, I would love to take one as a pet, but I doubt I could even take as good care of it.

Wow our fairs are waaaay more to get in than that but also a ton to park, when you can find some, lol. That's what we get for being the capitol city of the state. That sun was super freaky eh, but I'm jealous cuz you got to see Three Doors Down and I loved them.

We have the Big E out in western MA, and I hope every year for a vegan vendor. One does offer a mediocre vegan chili, and I spend my money on it anyway hoping that the demand is high enough that more vegan options are added. Not even the tempura vegetables are safe at the fair. On the bright side, I end up saving a lot of money that would have been spent on food that's meant to slowly kill us!

I tend not to go to fairs and stuff like that much any more because vegan options are all but nonexistent.Sure you can get fries and fresh squeezed lemonade. The last time I went I asked for the chicken burrito without the chicken and the ensuing grief I got about price and can we do that was such a PIA. Even a salad can turn into such grief.

It's crazy how people get sometimes. Like they don't know what to do when you say hold the meat. It's not hard. Just don't put it on the "whatever it is".

Respect to you guys for going! Our storied Michigan State Fair was resurrected recently after a few years of being suspended due to the recession and I can't bring myself to go: I still have childhood trauma from attending it in its original form, even though back then it was just as much about crop agriculture as animal agriculture. I'll never forget the last year my family went, talking worriedly with a young farm girl my age about her award winning calf; we both knew he wasn't going to a green pasture to live out his days . . . Based on how the state fair is marketed now, I think of it as ground zero for brainwashing people with animal agriculture fairy tales. TFP!

My family and I aren't vegan but I love watching your videos because I try to have at least 1-2 vegan or vegetarian days a week for my family. In my area unless i wanted my family to eat mostly beans and rice i couldn't afford to go completely vegan. I can't have a garden where I live so i can't grow my own fresh veggies and it cost 99 cents for just one cucumber. it took 4 along with cherry tomatoes(my mom gifted those to us) plus we had hummus with toast and the hummus was 6 something a pack. so for one meal for my family it was over 10 dollars and that was with some of the food being gifted and well...around 350 available a month for food that just doesn't make it since we need 3 meals a day

wow I wish we had a farmer's market like that in my area it would definitely make it a lot cheaper to eat a whole lot healthier. We would be able to be mostly vegan or vegetarian with that for sure. the foods in that video look super yummy

I never go to the Texas State Fair anymore simply because they have mini rodeos and I'm not even about to support that shit. Nice to know about the Dippin Dots though. Thank you.
@Mother_daughter_adventures7 жыл бұрын
I'm going on a road trip soon and I normally bring some prepackaged snacks when I'm traveling for convenience sake. Since going vegan, I can't get what I've always gotten for trips, not that I'm complaining. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I normally try to avoid prepackaged foods as much as possible but traveling is a different story. What are your favorite road trip snacks?
@TheVeganZombie7 жыл бұрын
Emily Griffin well let me ask you this then. What would you have brought with you before you were vegan? There are vegan versions of everything. If you don't want prepackaged foods you could bring fruit nuts and seeds.
@Mother_daughter_adventures7 жыл бұрын
The Vegan Zombie popcorn, cheesy puffs, candy, just straight up junk. I will be bringing fruits and vegetables that can be out of the fridge and still be good. I was just curious what you liked snack wise that's prepackaged.

did the strong hearts cafe sign even say vegan anywhere? i didn't see it, so i probably would have walked right by. that's happened to me with vegan restaurants before...
@TheVeganZombie7 жыл бұрын
Just on the menu.
@lamaddussa7 жыл бұрын
yeah... i have no idea why some vegan restaurants do this. i once lived near an amazing vegan restaurant / diner that i didn't go to for years because it was essentially called "diner and' nothing on its sign indicated that it was vegan. i only found out when i noticed that they were selling vegan food when they had a stall at a festival. i have no idea why some vegan restaurants do this...
@ASMRyouVEGANyet7 жыл бұрын
mad dusa Because non vegans will either harass / do vandalism or they will just not even bother trying it out. I know this because I worked at a vegan restaurant before... And also from asking other restaurants
@lamaddussa7 жыл бұрын
that occurred to me (i.e. meat eaters accidentally getting vegan food, though i'm not sure how likely that is. i mean, once you order something don't they have to tell you what it is, if for no other reason than because some people have allergies...). but if you don't say that you're vegan you'll miss some vegans. i guess local vegans will generally be aware that a restaurant is vegan, though.

Rainbow dipping dots are vegan?!?!?? Ugh why didn't I know this 2 days ago. Sadddddd

Being vegan at the fair is a very stressful thing for me. Too many people, not enough vegan options, tortured animals that are confined in a cage with chains and a voice over the mic repeating saying words like come see the world's smallest horse or you won't believe your eyes once you see a pig with horns. To a vegan it's basically a carnival of hell, humans AKA demons consuming the flesh of animals while there's animals confined in chains being miserable with the guy on the mic yapping to go see them. So yeah, hell.
