I only study when I get motivated by something good , like ohh fs I study I'm gonna have good grades and i can rest and shill and watch movies without worrying to much , and don't get motivated by stress because I don't let anything to force me do do something ! like , I don't get motivated if a teacher tells me that I'm gonna fall his class , I don't get motivated when someone said that I'm dumb , I have that mentality of : so what ?! I'm dumb what's gonna happen?! so the issue is when I'm trapped in an environment where everyone frustrates me or makes me feel like I can't do anything , unconsciously I made a decision to manifest what they're saying about me to prove to myself that I'm gonna be fine even if I wasn't good enough I'm trying to change that mentality but maaan it's really hard and I'm an overthinking so even the realisation of me having that kind of thinking is bothering me

When the resistance shows up, I watch videos about space and universe. that reminds me of how small are we and how far we still need to go. in the universe and knowledge. and also i listen to some auto-biography

I was in the same position. I didn't complete my project. It was 21 days due. I kept telling myself I'll do the project tomorrow. But, now I'm using my time wisely and I'm back to learning machine learning. I submitted my project, I need to make some improvements to it

yes, i find just that a starting a task is typically the largest hurdle when overcoming procrastination. once i start, things are pretty smooth. I do turn off all notifications on the computer/phone so i'm not distracted, and if things pop up in my head that are unrelated, i write them down to look at later. another thing is to make the task easy to start and get rid of the "start up factor". for instance, if you want to start biking more, make sure your bike is ready to use so you can just hop on and go vs dealing pumping up the tires and finding your helmet before you can ride.

Yessss! The startup factor is a massive one. Reducing the barrier to entry. I do the same thing with shoes. If I want to go to gym but don’t really want to, I put on my gym shoes and it tricks my brain into wanting to go. I love the writing down of ideas too - I do the exact same 📝

I personally have days where I'm not in the mood and I'm feeling sad, demotivated, unproductive and if I don't push through the first 15 minutes, sadness will lead to unproductivity which will lead to more sadness which will lead to more unproductivity. I fell into this sad and unproductive void yesterday and I didn't manage to pull through. Luckily, your video made me certain that next time I'm going to give my all to win. Nevertheless, I try to be studying ML every spare second I get, every day, and that kinda overloads me emotionally after a week or two. I guess I shouldn't punish myself too harshly if I get a break here and there.

Good stuff. Interesting to find someone up to very similar things and crushing it (python, ml/ai, fitness, even jre). Been playing around with python for a few years now and decided to dive into the fast.ai course. Their top to bottom approach seems great, I tried to start off with pure math courses that were relevant to ML/AI but couldn't keep myself focused without having proper context to hook onto. Do you have much of a math background?

Yo sq! Thanks my friend. The only official math classes I took were in high school (2008-2010) and then Khan Academy to fill in the gaps where needed. That being said, I’ve always had a ‘numbers brain’ so maybe some of the concepts come easier? But don’t get me wrong, it still takes a number of hours for me to get my head around things, sometimes more.

I did the same thing! It took me 5 years to complete a 3-year degree. I failed the first two years due to a lack of meaning and being lazy. The next three years were far more enjoyable when I changed my course to something I was thoroughly interested in. Keep going, you'll find something, it may even be at another university!
