Any special reason for lemon juice?
@PlantBasedDads4 жыл бұрын
Hi Barbara. I you talking about the lemon in the soup? You can leave it out and honestly, it tastes the same without it. I don't put enough in to really make a difference. I am not a huge fan of lemon. It was in the original recipe that I found many years ago.
@barbaradavis17124 жыл бұрын
Plant Based Dads .A few plant based people uses a lot of lime or lemon juice in cooking . That’s why I asked you because I knew you would answer me. A bunch of people don’t answer questions .THANK YOU .
@PlantBasedDads4 жыл бұрын
Barbara, you know I cant resist a good conversation. I always answer comments. Personally I can tolerate lemon but I'm not a huge fan of things Lemony. Even with the lemon I put, it's not lemony. If it was, I would have to leave it out. But yes, I have made recipes from other people and put in the amount of lemon and lime they say to put in, and have been like "This is way too lemony for me to eat". For sure. Thanks so much for watching.

Here is a recipe for you to try. I call it Rainbow Nopal salad. Finely shred 1/4 purple and 1/4 green cabbage. Dice 3 or 4 roma tomatoes (remove seeds). Finely dice 1/4 of a large white onion. Wash and finely dice half a bunch of the freshest cilantro you can find. On the stove cook a bag of cactus (nopalitos) with one tablespoon of salt for 25 -30 minutes. Adjust salt as needed. Rinse and drain with cold water. Make sure they are cut in small squares. Some are sold in cut up small squares in grocery stores. Set aside to cool. In large bowl combine the purple and green cabbage. Toss in diced onions, tomotoes, cilantro, and cooled Nopales. Combine all ingredients and add salt to your liking. Just by looking at it, you will see if you need to add more onion, tomoatoe, cabbage, etc. Once all combined, chill in fridge for 30 min. This salad will keep in the fridge for 4 or 5 days, goes well with hummus, and is so nutritious.

I just started the Startch Solution a few days ago and so far I LOVE IT! I have always had a hard time feeling satisfied after eating and would go back again and again for more food trying to feel satiated. On the Starch Solution I no longer have these problems. Judy, thanks so much. I don't practice anything, I just film the actual food part in one day. Then on a different day, I just do the intro. Then I spend about two days editing it and getting it ready for the public to see. I try to keep the show looking like an episode on Food network, hoping they will call me, want to buy the show and offer me millions! HA! Ok, I just like to edit and make it flow nicely. Thanks so much for the compliment. It really is about the food.

Hi Joey, I'm just catching up on watching some of your older videos and have been really enjoying your content! One question...based on the image of you adding vanilla to your waffles it looks like 1 teaspoon of vanilla not 1 tablespoon...is that correct?? P.S. I'm off to make the lentil veggie soup!!

i just made the waffles and OMG! They are amazing, I found your tiny waffle maker, followed your recipe to the letter and they came out perfect. JoAnn, I freeze waffles and pancakes all the time too. It's a good option to have them all week long. Yes, aren't these fun? There is something about tiny waffles that are just so unthreatening! HA!! Hi Joey! Love all your meals, but those Cuban black beans look amazing! Quick question regarding the lentil soup. Do you completely cover it while it simmers?
@PlantBasedDads4 жыл бұрын
Hi Trixie. Good question, Yes, I do have the cover sitting on top and not cracked a bit. I know why you are asking this. Sometime, you crack the cover just a bit so the steam comes out and goes into the exhaust vent. On this one, since it's simmering on low, you shouldn't have to do that. But I have cooked this uncovered before because I forgot to put the cover on and it came out just as good. So I think even if the cover is cracked just a bit to let steam out, it will cook just as well. Thanks so much for watching. And yes, the beans are A-Mazing!!
