I have consumed so much information about food, health and nutrition. I have tried several, SEVERAL diets, tips, and tricks. I’d like to drop 25 pounds and all the things I did 1-2 years ago are not working. So I decided to do just as you said: listen to my body and trust myself. I KNOW how to eat healthy, what is harmful to my body, how to exercise for my age and ALL OF THAT 😆 🙌🏼 So now… if I’m not hungry I’m not going to eat. EVEN IF I didn’t get as much protein or fruit and vegetables “for the day”. I no longer am trying to meet those “requirements”. I’m trusting myself and the truth I know about health and my body. I just started several days ago and am excited to see how this changes my body. Of course I still workout even if I don’t want to because I don’t have a very active lifestyle so I need to make myself move. But not to the point of stressing my body out. Some days I can handle a hard workout. Other days it’s just light and easy cardio or a walk. I’m 47. Female. 5’6”. 157 pounds. Maybe by the end of this year I’ll have a lighter frame 😊 (9/17/2024)

I think this obsession with gaining weight actually makes people gain it. I believe people should focus on the health more and on what effect has that food on their mind, rather on calories. This diets for weight loss don't work. I had problems in the past with weight gain and went into a toxic yo yo dieting. I am 50 kg now for years and I lost weight and maintained the moment I didn't care about calories and diets. 😊

Oh. My. Goodness. You're my food psychologist :) I always hear your voice in my head telling my to eat what sounds good to me, instead of eating what I'm supposed to eat according to one of the millions of diets I've been on in the past. Thank you for this video. I'm slowly learning.

You speak so well. No ums and ahs. Nothing feels forced. The conversation flows and it feels like a chat with a friend. Can you talk about a balanced vegan diet?

I so relate to thinking more about food than anything else and switching focus.

What hits home the most for me is the obsessive thinking. This was me. When I was macro tracking and logging all my food, I obsessed over when my next snack was. When my next meal was. What I would eat. Every other thought was about food to the point of distraction. I LOVE food. But as I have been on this journey to deconstruct diet culture mentality, I have been SHOCKED by how chill I am now about when and what I eat. How I’ll surprise myself that I’m not thinking about how much time is left until lunch most of the time. What a nice unintended consequence!

Would you say this obsession with weight loss/gain is a more marketed American issue or do you see this a lot in France as well? I swear every time I turn on the TV or even on KZbin, I see ads for powders, gummies, supplements, or medication for other issues (but weight loss is an added perk!). It is EVERYWHERE! Instead of promoting a healthy balanced diet and getting your nutrients from actual food, there’s always a quick pill, powder, or gummy that can replace it in your diet. Which is BS and I am living proof of that. I can’t have dairy thanks to an intolerance and I don’t take Calcium supplements, but instead I eat a lot of leafy greens and other foods containing various degrees of calcium as well as other nutrients. My blood work came back showing my calcium levels are perfect. No pill required. But our system doesn’t promote that. I guess I was just wondering if it’s as bad in France as here.

I am not from France, but from Germany (the country next to France, also in Europe) and am currently studying abroad in New York - long story short: you’re definitely right; the obsession with weight loss is MUCH more marketed in America. I was shocked when I saw ads in the subway for "skinny shots“ or got KZbin ads on how to get ozempic without insurance. This is simply crazy to me. How is this legal? Also, I have been to a multitude of countries in Europe and I’ve never seen a country where calories are on every menu and EVERYWHERE. Our menus (mostly) don’t have calorie information and I feel like this is much healthier.

that's mostly genetic, i think. for exemple, my collegue a wort really skinny (like really) she never exercises and she is very lazy (she barely moves) . But she eat mostly junk food and ton of calorie everyday ( sometimes more than 3000 kcal+) guess what , she never gains weight !

I have a friend like this, no exercise, always in her car, lot of processed food, drink few water during the day (if I do that I'm sure to have urinary problems: she never had that!!), and even with menopause, her weight is still the same when I gained 5/7 kgs....
