I’m trying to explain to my husband lol 😅 when it comes to comparing a glass of oj and a glass of wine, the alcohol content is higher in the wine so how does it not transfer as being slightly higher in our milk than the glass of oj? I am asking because I’m always trying to be extra cautious but feel like I can only have 2 glasses once he’s like 10-12 months old 😭
@drjennale Жыл бұрын
So the glass of wine will increase your blood alcohol. Your baby is drinking your milk which is would have the same alcohol content as your blood. It’s not like your baby is drinking the alcohol directly.

I’m hoping you know the answer to this question. Is there any proof/studies that show it is dangerous to breastfeed if you have done 17+hrs of fasting?? I keep hearing warnings that when autophagy starts at 17hrs of fasting, the body might dump detox toxins out through the breast milk… but I can’t find any studies that back this up… I’m fasting an older baby (almost 2 yrs old) and I want to use autophagy to help improve my gut bacteria to help my psoriasis

I personally drink a cup of coffee every morning and London always naps around 10 AM! We he doesn’t get fussy or gassy. I have hear some babies are sensitive but very minimal amounts are passed in the breastmilk. So generally I would say - try a little and see how it goes!

@drjennale5 жыл бұрын
Sure! When you drink your blood alcohol level equals the alcohol content that is passed to the breast milk. So for example : the legal limit to drive is if you have a blood alcohol level of 0.08. So that means that 0.08% of alcohol is pass through the breast milk. A fresh glass of orange juice has 0.5% alcohol. I even if I drank till I was in a coma! The amount of alcohol I’m passing to my baby would be less than orange juice! Hope that helps! 🍷

Hi Jenny! As a medical professional yourself, I have a question for you. Do you ever feel concerned about the toxins that are released in your body that go into your breastmilk, while fasting? I just finished reading “Fast. Feast. Repeat” by Gin Stephens, and I’m concerned about this. I love losing weight and the energy I get from fasting, but I’m concerned that it might be coming at the cost of my baby’s milk. Thoughts? Thanks!
@drjennale3 жыл бұрын
This “release of toxins” is not based in science. We also have an amazing liver that clear out circulating toxins in our bodies. Ultimately, fasting is not a magic bullet that enables you to lose weight but rather the calories deficit that you obtain with fasting as a tool that causes weight loss. I’ve fasted 99% of the time while breastfeeding Wyatt until 14 months and London till 21 months. And both of them are at the 99th percentile of growth and exceeding all milestones. I hope this give you a little peace of mind.

Hi Jenny i did intermittent fasting pre pregnancy for 2 yrs and loved it! im 38 weeks pregnant at the moment and was wondering if as a first time mom who has never breast fed can i do intermittent fasting again ? like 16/8 or do you think i should wait till shes at least 1 month old ? was planning on maybe eating between 12-8pm ...but then again not sure how my body would respond when i breastfeed her in morning or while im fasting. 🙂thankyou
@drjennale3 жыл бұрын
I think you should listen to your body. Give yourself some grace right after having a baby but cause being a mom and especially a first time mom - is though. It personally did not affect by milk supply because I still ate over the required amount of calories. For me personally. Just enjoy little one. Work on bonding. If you’re not hungry in the morning, don’t need to force yourself to eat. Congratulations!!
