I want to be vegan so much but I have to be lacto vegetarian cause I am afraid of a possible lack of vitamin B 12. Not for the protein as most of the people assume cause legumes are rich in protein and you can assume the rest of the vitamins by eating lots of fruit and vegetables. I take the carbohydrates from cereals and fats and omega 3 from the seeds. The only thing is that I don't know how to be vegan and eliminate dairy cause I am afraid of possible lack of nutrients. What do you reccomend me to do as a nutritionist?
@justcallmeflora8 ай бұрын
Hey! Luckily, B12 supplements are excellent, and the data consistently suggests that those who supplement with B12 do not develop deficiency. I take B12 supplements too. However, you can also buy dairy alternatives like plant based milk and yoghurt that are already fortified with both b12 and calcium (and usually vitamin D). I also add nutritional yeast to a lot of my meals on a daily basis because it is usually fortified with b12, so find one that is fortified. Apart from this, if you eat a variety of plant-based fat protein and carb source and you supplement with B12, you will have very low chance to develop a deficiency. But, still if you are scared that something isn't right, you can go to check your blood test for B12 each year to make sure you are on the right track. In the animal industry, even the animals are supplemented with B12 because that would have naturally come from the soil but most of the animals do not even touch the ground. PS. if you don't get direct sun exposure on a daily basis, I would also recommend taking a vitamin D supplement. If you use sunscreen, you need supplement too. But please, if you have any difficulty, consult with a registered nutritionist or diatitian. Good luck!!!

@@justcallmeflora thank you so much for answering to my comment. ❤️ I'm definitely gonna do that and use plant based milk. I didn't know that nutritional yeast have b12 in it. I only know that is a source of protein, so thank you. This is very useful. I'm gonna do as you said. Thank you again for the help ❤️
