Peachtree Battle estate sales knows their stuff and handles many of the more exclusive, high end estate close outs in the Atlanta, GA area. If you attend on the first day of one of their multiday sales, be prepared to pay retail prices or to sleuth for overlooked gems. On the other hand, they will help you load the pieces you buy into your vehicle or arrange delivery of the large furniture pieces at a separate fee. There are several other dealers who will bundle, even on the first day.

They do know their stuff and it was a very well displayed and run sale! I realize they specialize in that area and finer homes. It doesn't surprise me that they would price for the neighborhood on day one, I would be inclined to do the same. The loading seemed very organized as well. I would want them to do my sale if I were in that neighborhood!
@mbrolfe7504

@@TheAntiqueNomad PB usually does their multiday sales with full price on the first day, then adds a discount as the days progress ie 25, 35 then 50pct. Other firms like Maple Leaf, Professional Estates, Two Old Dogs handle their sales in the same manner, typically doing 40% of their overall sales in the first hour or so. Firms like Lott’s Treasures, only price the big items and will bundle on even the first day. With the big estates or ones held in historic homes like Druid Hills or Buckhead, even if I don’t find anything in my price range, I’ve gotten to see the interior of a home I might never otherwise enter. I realize you don’t have that luxury as a reseller and appreciate the information and historical context you share on your KZbin channel.

What a gorgeous neighborhood! I felt like I really got a true feel for the homeowners through their so thoughtfully curated art collection and objects of interest. They would have been the type of people I could have listened to talk all day! It appears to be lives well lived, with much intellect. I have to be honest with you George, estate sales can be extremely difficult for me. Some might say it may be empathetic tendencies, but it is most likely my inability to not put stories to things. I have to be in the correct mindset. I just cannot forget the estate sales I attend, or the objects I’ve acquired from them. It makes me happy to know that families get the opportunity to work with someone like you. Someone so fair and compassionate, who wants these objects to be honored! ❤️

I think that's what gives you your unique perspective and makes your channel (and more importantly, you as a human) interesting and appealing! I get it from my personal experience... some estates are happy, some not...some are fun, some serious...some are people you want to know and take a piece with you, some are not...I've seen and felt a lot of great energy in estates I've done, and some really weird energy and strangeness as well! I do believe conducting an estate sale is a chance to bring someone's life to people as a form of celebration

Hi George! I was able to make it to this one...barely. I've been laying carpet today, among other things. Love that Alexander Calder print...just not that much. I have some puppets from Indonesia that reminded me of the one there. That was a great book with the Japanese block prints. I liked that corner table. It would be easy to use. When I lived in Atlanta there were a lot of yard sales with some really high-end items at give-away prices. Some things would even be put on the streets for rubbish collection. Living in an apartment, though, there was no room to get all I would've liked to have gotten. It's great to see a high-end estate sale! Thanks for the take-along!!!

Beautiful home. They didn’t appear to be selling too much at those prices. When one needs to clear out a home of that size in three days it doesn’t make sense to me to put retail prices on those items. I’m not saying they should give them away either. When day three rolls around they may find they are going to get stuck with a lot of it even with a heavy discount. I’m wondering if the estate liquidation company has a retail store where they can sell any remaining items. I know that some do. It may explain why they have high initial prices.
@TheAntiqueNomad
@TheAntiqueNomad 3 жыл бұрын
That is a possibility, some estate sale firms handle things that way. To me, if they want to sell it retail, they should take it on consignment to start. My theory is that they're a high-end company who work that area a lot and sell a lot of things to the neighbors and designers at higher prices, then work down. I found some goodies but I bet the final day was the day to shop

Irritates me when estate sales want to price items at full retail price. I buy and sell mid century modern and see it ad nauseum. Even more annoying is when the last day when everything is 50% off that does not include the expensive pieces. They think they are going to sell full retail in 3 days when it might take me months to sell the same item? Those kind of estate companies completely turn me off, but like you said, there can be some sleepers in there.

I don't really think so, I was there at the end of day one and so they'd already been selling for seven hours. Unless a wealthy big house owner is a collector of smalls, I've noticed that large estates (even ones we've done) are generally relatively spartan, emphasis on large/showy items rather than quantity

@@TheAntiqueNomad Maybe a bunch of family members cherry-picked it but I thought what was there was kinda...junkish compared to the house and location. Like the furniture- I would've expected much nicer, higher quality, of the "brown wood" stuff and the art work was all over the place which makes me feel the ppl running the estate sale had loaded the sale with non-estate mdse to sell at it. They may have salted it. I thought it was a very odd group of sale items.

Some was definitely overpriced, but I felt good about what I found that wasn't. Manor estates often seem to price the obvious things at retail and disregard the smalls
