It's all cool details but there are also references to SH3, like Douglas' hat at the motel which happens much later. Yea sure you can say it's an easter egg but that would be picking and choosing one detail over another, that opens the door to confirmation bias. Looking at it as a whole, we have to keep in mind this isn't the original team so anything like this has to be taken with a grain of salt. I absolutely loved the remake, but when it comes to deeper lore I personally value info from the Team Silent devs over hidden assets from bloober team. All that being said i love that the community is back at theory crafting and deep diving into lore, in 2024!? 😂 This is a dream haha. I really enjoyed this video! Keep it up!

Yes, especially if development began in UE4 and then updated to UE5 later on. Or used systems/templates that used UE4 Mannequin as it's base by default. It really doesn't mean anything. It has nothing to do with optimization either, switching to UE5 won't magically optimize your game. LODs are still more performative than Nanite, UE5 might actually be worse for optmization, if devs depend too much on these shortcuts. But then again the game can (and should) be otimized in both UE4 and UE5 if the devs know what they are doing.

There is no "time loop". The bodies are in fact, versions of James, because James has been contemplating both death and suicide, and his mind is manifesting these subconscious thoughts, just like the enemies. The developers have long confirmed this.

That theory of james finding himself in a time loop is something i noticed while playing and looking at those bodies he'd find and on my second playthough it clicked with the letter where you get the golden knob that says "You must think i'm cruel, But this prison is of your own making. The choice was yours, I watched you make it, over and over and over again. This time's not gonna be any different. And I'll be here. Watching." plus those bodies you find laying on the ground look exactly like james down to the clothes and all.

As a developer working on a UE5 title for a few years now, I can provide some insights. Silent Hill 2 Remake is clearly an UE5 game, utilizing a lot of the new technologies like Lumen for real-time global illumination, Nanite for high-poly/more detailed meshes, Niagara for advanced particle systems, and Chaos for physics/cloth simulation. So, no, it's not a fake UE5 game, it's just a UE5 game. And no, UE5 isn’t poorly optimized either, but it does demand more effort from developers to fully leverage its advanced features. Technologies like Lumen, Nanite, and Chaos offer unprecedented visual fidelity and dynamic environments, but they also push hardware harder. The engine gives developers more control over optimization, meaning it’s possible to achieve stunning results-if you're willing to spend time fine-tuning performance for different platforms. The extra work is definitely worth it for the level of detail and realism it can bring to a game. Regarding the mannequin, it likely serves as a reference for size and scale, or possibly for animation retargeting. Many developers still use the UE4 mannequin, even though Manny is the newer option in UE5. For instance, in my project, all the characters are still based on the UE4 mannequin's proportions. Since the entire workflow is structured around that, switching to Manny would require adjustments that don’t make sense unless there's a compelling reason.

Jesus, thank you for establishing to the truth to people who have no idea about game engines or programs. First and foremost, Bloober doesnt want to get sued with false advertisement and there is ALOT of ways to analyze a games core files to definitely confirm what engine it was designed on; not to mention when the game boots, UE5 is LARGELY displayed. In any graphics program, sometimes having reference models help with the evolved model especially how it reacts in the engine.

1. Yes, the corpses around silent hill are of James. All of them. The folder which stores the models for them is called "LF_James_Dead" 2. The "secret" outside westwood appartments at 5:41 is not really a secret. It's something game devs call an "asset storage". It's simply a part of the map outside the play area where assets are loaded in and stored until they're needed. Unused assets can also be put there. It's done so that these assets can be preloaded before they're needed in order to skip loading them when they're needed. 3. Yes, the dummy is from ue4, but that does not mean that the game was ported to ue5 shortly before release. We can never know when they ported the game to ue5. For all we know, they could have started prototyping in ue4, but moved over to ue5 shortly after that. As a matter of fact, no sane game developer will migrate their game to a different engine version shortly before release as it can cause a lot of problems and potentially cause the entire game to break. So no, this game has always been a full ue5 title. Edit: Forgot to mention that the ue4 guy is still available in ue5 because the rigs are different. Some prefer to use the ue4 rig, while others prefer ue5 manny's rig.

SH2 taking place in 1993 was already discovered in SH2:BOrn from a Wish, when Maria commented on a november 1983 calendar saying "It happened exactly 10 years ago". Both OG and Remake SH2 take place in November 1993. Another hin was the computer found in two areas of the game. It is a replica of an old Dell Model that was commmercialized in 1991 or 1992, not before. Despite what Team Silent said, there are too many elements that contradicts their statement "The game takes place between late '70s/early '80s". Also, the gun manufacturer is "Bloobetta", an obvious portmanteux of Bloober and Beretta.

Even if the manequin comes from UE4, that doesn't mean the game was ported to UE5 late in development, actually the game makes very heavy use of lumen, to the point where you can't run the game without raytracing What this tells us is that the remake started out on UE4, but was definitely built around UE5's technologies in mind

The old mannequin model is included in UE5, as a default asset along with the new Manny and Quinny models. The game may started when in UE4 but by the look of the game, they definitly upgrated it to UE5, maybe an early version which was not carefully optimized. Without lumen and nanite, UE4 can never deliver such realism. The reason why the game is not smooth could be the fog effect, it's a volumetric fog with a plugin called "screen scattering fog", which you can buy in the Unreal marketplace. They turn the resolution of the volume fog too high, to achieve the great detail of mist effect. They even used it in indoor scenes.

pay attention to the cutscenes in the og silent hill 2. then go and listen to the ones in the remake. They even are worded that james has done this so many times. Even before fighting the final boss, you can see the exact moment james realization triggers the switch in his head and flips him back to denial. The guy just repeats everything but this time it sames that even the others trapped along with him and in his own world, want it to end and to finally come to a closure.

Great video! As an Unreal Engine Dev myself, A small note on *11:48* "the head is covered in paint". I believe this is not paint but in fact, its the surface decal for blood you see on the cloth covering him that "bleeds" underneath the face model and creates that effect :) (it is possible to have this effect if the model is setup to receive textures on their surfaces. This theory that James would be in a loop doesn't make sense, because it gives the game a sci-fi vibe. The game was inspired by the psychology of Freud and Carl Jung works. The bodies are a message from James's subconscious telling him what is explicit in Neely's bar: 'If you Really want to see Mary, you should just DiE. Its hilarious that without command prompt executions of god mode being activated, so you can fly the active camera to any position in the game; 99% of the consumers play the linear storyline and dont outside the map or around tight objects to point out the flaws. So just like 3D Animation, the active camera, displaying the viewport will be the desired result; anything outside is imperfection and exactly not what people want to show. Honestly, as someone in 3D Animation professionally and worked with UE5, this game was amazing. Get yourself two 4090's if you want flawless play through xD. Im using my 2080Ti from 2018 and played it on medium/high textures graphic settings and it was very smooth framerate with no crashes.

About the destruction animations, since the camera is locked while the vaulting or crawling animation is being played, the player has no mean of looking at it anyway, so why bother animate them? Also, the mannequin being from UE4 likely means that the development started with UE4 and then later updated to UE5, imo.

I saw a calendar in the game. I can't seem to remember exactly where it was, but I feel like it was at the beginning of the hospital (maybe in the reception room or in the basement?). Interesting video but the unreal theory is just a blatant lie. As someone who worked with UE3 up to UE5, upgrading takes up a lot of resources that it’s almost not possible to port a half finished game into UE5 without issues. The reason why it’s unoptimized it’s mainly due to UE5’s poor handling of Fog and just in general poor optimizations in previous versions. Either case if they did switch from UE4 to UE5 it was done way early in the game after getting the base movement done. Quixel bridge was not compatible with UE4 and a lot of Silent Hill 2’s environment and character details would be impossible for UE4 to handle

Those black boxes are what contain all the indoor areas it's to stop the sky lighting (which is the mean source of light out doors) if those black box's where not there the indoor ares would be as bright as outdoors.

Here's one for you if you no clip at the Final boss most of the ending areas are also loaded on the same map if you go over to where Marry is in her bed, if you look facing down just about the ceiling there's a grid texture with numbers and letters, if you need help you can see the areas in the distance you need to just keep going towards them yes the game world goes into that black void but once your near they spawn in.

Maybe (and that's my theory) every human body we see was killed by Eddie, because silent hill is tormenting him with people that make fun of him. Every person that is brought to silent hill sees different stuff.

SPOILER, will explain the whole Game....Why you dont look into James car?! There is something interesting on the backseat, its Marys Corpse under a blanket. There is only one ending that is true. And all of Silent hill is an imagination of James Mind. Nothing is real , dead bodys of James , enemys, characters, espacially the letter never exist. Supposedly the letter disappears from the inventory at a certain point in the game, suggesting that the letter never existed The characters Eddie, Maria Laura, Pyramid Head...... are said to reflect various characteristic traits and feelings of James, regret, sadness, sex, selfishness, fury.... For my self i never really understand the story 100% but now with the remake it make sense now

Eddie, Angela and Laura can very well be real. They each see their own version of Silent Hill, and in all other games in the series there are real people coming in contact with the protagonist, some of which are even seen entering or leaving Silent Hill. They COULD be illusions because ANYTHING can be an illusion in Silent Hill, but there is no direct proof.

The pistol mechanics ain't 100% right. After the slide is racked back the hammer should stay back until the trigger is pulled. But that's really a minor detail.

Not every pistol has the slide remaining behind after the last cartridge. I've seen it myself, I was confused afterward. But I think the weapon animation in the game doesn't look good, it looks so slow

I mean there is loads of games that have assets just outside the map for cutscenes/fights I’m sure it’s to cut loading time or whatever, RE2 Remake you could see this with Mr X. Same with the fallout games there’s certain dev rooms you can get into and they are just filled with NPC’s from Random Envounter pools. I guessed right about what happens with the town haha I thought that would be common knowledge, I’m not sure about the arguement tho tbh. Most likely have a patch soon as the devs are working on it apparently.

You can actually see the model that's in the fridge in full view if you no clip under the map when your in the court yards the one without the swimming pool fly under the map to where Eddie is and the model is stored under the map.

I think , if you see the corpse that is a sign in James Mind by himself that he is already dead, because he would drown himself in the water . I mean he knows all the time that Mary is already dead and he self is the next one. He knows Marys corpse lies on thr backseat in the car. James knew from the start that he was going to kill himself

You've clearly never used Unreal Engine. Mannequine from UE4 is still available in UE5. Which means that you don't really know what you're doing.

I'm a little surprised at how many people like you are shocked about bloober making a good game. I think ya'll have forgotten bloober are amazing with horror games. Layers of fear, blair withc, observer, and the medium were excellent.

The detail, performance and overall feel of REmake 3 is fantastic. The RE engine (even back in 2020 when RE3 dropped) could really hold its own. The main problem of that game was that it didnt have nearly enough time to cook and they wanted to shit out RE resistance ASAP to make some microtransaction bux. If they would have left REmake 3 in development for another year and released Resistance as a standalone title, it could have been amazing. But they didnt. At least Resistance was a fully fleshed out project and not some kind of obvious afterthought like REverse. So that eases the sting a little.

@@REexpert44Sorry this comment got kinda long but I wanted to talk about my thoughts. You don't gotta read this if you don't want to. Alot of the negative perception for RE3R doesn't just come from the cut content from the original, but the horrible new ideas that it was in favor of instead. From Dog form Nemesis, to Brad's super lame death compared to the original, to the terribly botched story ESPECIALLY towards the end, RE3R was kinda just rotten to almost the very core. Only new idea I liked was Mikhail, I think that's his name. He instantly became a top 5 RE character for me. However I don't think more time could have saved the game, I think it was just cooked. Strayed too far from the roots of the original.

Because SILENT HILL shows everybody something else! the guy found on the street might me eddies first victim, silent hill put on the street for eddie!
