This is why you are a great teacher...willing to learn and be uncomfortable...on the Internet no less😂. Thanks for all you do, I use your tips every round.

Improving at golf is like riding a horse, if you're comfortable, you're probably doing it wrong :D

Great lesson. Now I know how to use my pro. “Drag it off your back” really helped.

This is really a good tool to show you why it is important to line up / square the center of mass of the club (which is 6 inches up the shaft from the club head), with the swing plane created by your arms. If you are either crossing the line a lot (flying right elbow / excessive left wrist cupping) or laying off the club off a lot (huge bow of the left wrist or right elbow stuck to the body), then when you begin your downswing by applying force to the handle of the club, the center of mass of the club will begin to chase this moving force. If it is aligned, then it will follow without applying a torque on the shaft; if it is not aligned, then you are now required to provide your own offsetting twisting force to balance it instead of being able to apply your maximum force towards acceleration. The string allows you to feel when the mass is aligned and it allows you to keep accelerating the clubhead and get full benefit

Makes sense. Different approach to learning. After all most people get worse after a traditional lesson that teaches a series of positions. Feeling the motion that creates pro like contact makes more sense.

Dan Martin, Erika Larkin, Paul Wilson, and probably others I don’t know have got the best swing ideas. I’ve started training with the Pro and I’m now able to make a full backswing with zero arm lift. Some shots are off but I’m hitting more and more in the center and with decent club speed.

Hey, it’s the Rope Bat. Also used for baseball/fastpitch swing training. Eh. It’s ok. Can actually hit soft toss whiffles with it and get better feed back when used for baseball/fastpitch swings. Can’t really hit a ball here. This is just Swing weight training. If you’ve never grasped it before this can help. Once you feel it and understand it, you can never go back.

Cool. Thanks for the additional info. Was not aware of that. I will say that it is super important to understand this concept and learn to feel how to swing the weight of the club. Once I learned how to do this, I’ve started hitting more pure shots. The kind that you barely feel hitting the club and have a beautiful flight. This is also super important if you want to get better at shaping your shots.

Hello Matt. I have a quick question for you if you have time. Ok, I have learned fairly recently to really tune into the sound my club makes as I swing it, especially down at the impact area. I've simply been trying to make that zippy, swoosh type sound be as fast sounding as possible and to make sure it's happening right at and through where the ball would be. I try to make it sound as fast as I can, but still maintain control and proper finish, standing tall, buckle towards target, all that good stuff. I believe in order for this to be effective in the first place you need to have a fundamentally sound swing, which I think for the most part I do. I just wanted to get your opinion on that if you've got the time. Thanks a lot for everything you do!

Mr. Short Game, I thoroughly appreciate your transparency in letting us in to your lesson. However, I get way more from watching your videos than what I'm getting from this approach with the "PRO". My swing and brain aren't comprehending this as something I can use right away. This looks like something a low handicapper would probably benefit more from. I STRUGGLE with practice aids that are not in sinc with how I hit the ball ie.watching my swing and not the ball🤔

Google the "rope bat", or the whippie club all the same! Count yoga had a club on the end of a rope and could hit the ball.

The idea the rope remaining straight is what a club shaft should do is impossible from a momentum point of view. As your hands accelerate the club head plays catchup and the shaft performs

I was skeptical too but of all the dozens of things I've tried, the Pro is the best. Big help with sequence, release and grip pressure. I make much sweeter contact with shots short and long when I've been practicing with the Pro. Of all things, I also get a great check up chip shot from a tight lie when I have been using the Pro and groove the feeling. Not just for full swings or long clubs...
