So we are due in May with the second baby, and for a nursery-- we are doing a brand new nursery (minus crib and rocking chair, those will be reused). Ours will be 18 months apart and we are building a floor bed for the oldest and plan to transition about a month away from the due date so that she is nice and comfortable and used to sleeping there. That way we aren't awake with both babies at night. We also used our nursery with the first baby, for EVERYTHING except sleep. We did every diaper change in there, rocked her in the middle of the night to let the other parent sleep, got dressed, established full night time routines, etc. I think a new nursery will be so helpful, just move the crib and rocking chair later! Also it keeps SO much change from happening all at once for your oldest (sleeping in a brand new room vs. the one they are used to).

I started this transition at 5 weeks and now he sleeps pretty well on his own! The nursery is next to our room and we have a Sense-U complete baby monitor system to track his breathing, rollover, body temp, video and even nursery safety directly on my smartphone. Feel much less anxiety and better sleep now.

I’m pregnant with my second boy (July 2022 and Jan 2024) so I will have 2 under 2! It’s actually been pretty fun creating my registry because I’m not stressed about getting *everything* I need. It’s more convenience items this time around which makes it like the cherry on top of most of the essentials I already have. I’m planning to share my new gift registry too 🥰

I like when people make registry’s for their 2nd or 3rd babies because I still buy gifts to celebrate those babies. Usually diapers. I like seeing which diapers or wipes people prefer.

If you sign up for rewards with both similac and enfamil, they will send you some free samples and you can also get formula samples from your pediatrician. That way you can have them on hand, but won't have spent any money if you end up not needing them :)

Lactation consultant here: the Hatch grow scale takes an average weight of the baby's movement and is not accurate enough to get a clear picture of how much baby ate. We see problems in our clinic related to those home scales. Our scales wait for baby to be still and gets a "stable weight"
@jessa4282
@jessa4282 2 жыл бұрын
Very good to know this! It’s such a good idea in theory but a bummer to know it’s not super accurate.
@Sydney-xw1cr
@Sydney-xw1cr 2 жыл бұрын
@@jessa4282 yes! Such a great idea in theory! I am sure that technology will get there eventually but as of now a feeding scale costs around $2000 and should be recalibrated very regularly. They also must be perfectly level so there is a lot of room for error with them. A general rule of thumb when looking at infant scales is if they are not accurate up to 2g, they likely do not take a stable weight and are not adequate for transfer weights. I am hopeful technology will get there! It is a tool I use in the office every day for most every patient and often wish I could send one home with patients.

Another good way to give yourself some reassurance is to check in on diaper counts if you think something is wrong. After 6 days old, baby should be making at least 6+ heavy wet diapers in a 24hr period. If they are meeting that and generally seem fine, what goes in must come out and baby is likely getting enough! Good luck Mama! Follow your intuition :)

Expecting third time mom here. The hatch scale is an invaluable tool and made all the difference with my second baby. I bought it with my first but I should have gotten it earlier. It may not have been as accurate as the scales at the clinic but it is a great tool at home!

You actually might not need another car mirror if you are going to turn Peter’s car seat front facing when he turns 2! Just move the mirror over to where the baby will be 🙂 If you are going to leave him rear facing for as long as you can then a second once would be useful

Great list! Tip: Infant and children's tylenol is the same formula just different dosing per child based on weight. I would use the same meds since they have expiration dates.
@bayleewinkler8920
@bayleewinkler8920 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's a huge scam they get so many people with! The "infant" Tylenol in the tiny bottle with the syringe in the packaging is the same Tylenol as childrens Tylenol, that one just comes with a cup for dosing. And the price is 3x the markup for a waaaay smaller bottle if you buy infant Tylenol.

If you want to keep Peter in the crib an extra 6 months and the new baby outgrows the sno, you can always put new baby in a pack and play for a couple months if you have one! Mine out grew the halo super early but we weren't ready to transition to a crib yet so we used a pack and play for a couple months! Super convenient and easy!

Don’t forget the “upper adapters” for the stroller. Once you go in and make it a double stroller, you need the adapters for the top seat to make enough room for the lower seat!

I have the hatch scale and it's amazing for tracking weight 🙌 however, it's not precise enough for weighted feeds. I recommend looking at others if you want weighted feeds accurate enough to measure mls. I use the hatch for weighted feeds but it's approximate.

Pregnant with my second due in July! 💛🤰🏼Highly recommend to transition Peter to a big boy bed sooner if he is ready. My daughter is the same age, we transitioned her into a floor-bed October last year just after her second birthday. It took her a long time for her to settle into her new bed and not wander.

My kids are 2.5 years apart. We kept my son (my oldest) in his room. His crib converts to a toddler bed, he is 4.5 years old and his is still in his toddler bed (we were going to convert to a full bed at 4 years, but didn’t Ans he’s doing fine but definitely will by age 5. My second, my daughter, has her own room, and we bought the exact same crib and dresser for her but a different color. We used moved the glider to her room. She just turned 2 and still in the crib. Transitioning out the crib can be a tough transition. We did for my son at 2.5 when he was fully potty trained but then converted back to the crib because he would get out the bed as soon as we put him him his bed 😫 (the worst). So we waited until he was strong enough to climb out the crib before we transitioned to a toddler bed. It may be a tough transition for Peter…new baby, new room. It’s not nothing her can’t overcome but that may be tough for him.

Hi! How did you like the rumble seat? I future proofed like you on getting the uppababy vista v2, and with baby 2 coming soon I will have to get the converters and rumble seat as well. Was wondering how that worked for you!

i'm currently pregnant with our second boy, and we thought about putting our new baby in our first boy's room and moving him to another room. But w the layout of our house since we've moved since having our first we decided to keep our first son in his room and just decorate a new nursery, they'll only be 2 years and 2 months apart. I also feel a bit guilty bc when we moved to this new house we didn't really decorate our sons room how it was decorated in our old house so I want to use the opportunity to decorate his room because it's looking so plain

We're having another girl. Our nursery plan is to update the room for our older daughter, and eventually move the little sister to share (with maybe living a few months in our guest room after moving our of our room). That way we don't have to get another crib, and I think the girls will like sharing a room as we plan to eventually have a third.

Oh also we have the same nursery and crib plan! My son Leo will be 22 months when his brother is born, so by 4-6 months when brother is ready for the crib we’ll be moving Leo into a big boy bed. And in the next few months we will move Leo, still in the crib, into his new room so he can get used to the new room. I’m not decorating the nursery but Leo’s room, because eventually the plan is for the boys to share, so I’m really doing it for both of them!

I know it might be a but of change for my first but we also plan on re using the nursery for our second. We don't know the gender but we also didn't know for the first, it's pretty gender neutral. But I plan to decorate the room for our first to be more of what he's into which I think will be fun!

The room transition plan is perfect, and exactly what I did, after much thought! You can make Peter his big boy room however you want to, big boy bed, any interests he may have, can all be incorporated into his “big boy” room. And reuse the nursery. I agree completely that same gender, ya don’t need to decorate a second nursery. You may also be able to kill two birds with one stone and transition the new room and big boy bed at the same time, because both of those things may be scary for little one.

I have a lot of the same things on my baby #2 registry! Our kids will be about exactly 2 years apart - I’m also due in June. I have the same plan for nursery and bed situation. We aren’t finding out gender, but we didn’t for our first either so we have a fairly gender neutral nursery and tiny baby clothes.

I literally felt like i was watching a video of myself 6m ago bfore i had my second haha i too have 2 boys under 2. We did the whole keep the nursery thing and it worked great! I bought the scale as well but honestly only use it as a changing table and total regret it. Breastfeeding was just so much easier the second time (hope it is for you too!). I also tried the curve and hated it. I went back to using the haakaa. It just worked better. If you dont leak a lot the curve just didnt do much for me and took too much adjusting it became a pain.

I understand that they are the same gender, but when you have baby #2, please try to personalize the nursery a bit. Maybe with a wall decor of his name or another type. His toys. New crib sheets and different color ones. As a second girl of three girls, it really hunted me and my little sister to not have our own personal space for us. Dosent need to dive big , just something for the new baby call it’s own. Just my two cents of course
