Wonderful stuff. As a result of us watching this video together, SWMBO and me have just enjoyed an evening revisiting some Supertramp albums. Some I haven’t listened to for decades, and some I never bought. There were genuine goosebump moments. I agree that Supertramp should really have been huge, but seventy odd million album sales is not too shabby. Prog, pop, rock, genres, types… the way I see it there’s only two types of any artform. The stuff you like and the rest.

that's lovely to hear Graham. Lisa doesn't share my taste or love for music so we rarely listen to anything together! Even though their album sales are huge, I really do fell ST are an underrted band (by many) and have kind of sailed under the radar a little. Shame as they should have been huge :-)

Hey Nick! Why did you decide to do 3-6? This starts out with their best, and no way (IMHO) were they going to be able to match 'Crime', and they didn't come close. That's more of a compliment to 'Crime' than it is an indictment on 'Crisis.' "Fool's Overture" is the best song they did that did not appear on 'Crime.' It is rare that I give 'BIA' a spin, as it was so overplayed, it is an album I never need to hear again. Loved this!

thanks Steve - glad you enjoyed. 3-6 came to me as they are often forgotten albums after the debut and tricky second album. Many bands don't make it to 3, but If they do they tend to be into their stride so to speak. I agree on Crime - it's a simply fantastic record. I enjoyed all 4 though it has to be said. Also Peter Skov had been doing the first 10 by a band and I didn't want to blatantly copy him!!

I was lucky enough to see Supertramp in Reading 75.. they were on prior to headliners Yes and due to circumstances at the time over played their alloted time meaning Yes were late going on and to be honest with you my thoughts at the times was they would have been worthy headliners in themselves. I already owned Crime of the Century before I saw them and not having a mamouth collection at that time I got to know the LP intimately... and still today love it - its a classic and for me they were never the same. The follow up was a disappointment and I was pursuaded by a friend to swap it for something else - which I did as I really couldnt get into it. The follow up to Crime was always going to be hard - and I think it failed so much so that by the 3rd LP I had gone in a different direction with my record collecting..... I had similar experiences with Argent when I reflect on it. Thankfully Breakfast redeemed the band in my standing and logical was pure Tramp at their best.

cheers Al yes it was always going to be tricky following up COTC and Crisis fails in that respect - for me anyway. But EITQM is a fantastic album. Not as commercial a BIA but a quality liste nonetheless :-)
