And something about Thailand. Thai people love to wear yellow Gold and trust me often wear more Gold than is on your day date watch Rolex. Just basics.

Great watch! Your watch, along with the stainless steel Submariner w/date are the absolute classics of Rolex. Those are the 2 watches that stand out, even to people who are not familiar with Rolex. Im not sure why the stainless steel Sub is more popular than even the 2 tone blue face Sub ( I own both). I am not a watch collector or someone who wants to own multiple watches, but when I upgraded from the SS sub to the 2-tone sub, I just couldnt get rid of the SS sub. I bought the SS sub while I was working at a Rolex jewelry store when I was 19 years old, while going to University. The owner advised me to buy one, and I did. With my discount, I paid about $2,000.00. I was wearing it at the mall the other day, and a rolex dealer offered me 8k cash if i wanted to sell it. of course I said no thanks. haha

Thank you brother! I purposely did not celebrate a few wins to teach me even more discipline and keep my eomotions/impulses under control…I know I want yellow gold with champagne dial and fluted bezel. Just back and forth between baguette hour markers or Roman numerals. What do you suggest? I’m thinking roman…thank you for your response!

My jeweler suggested Roman numerals too…he said the diamonds are not worth it even though they are factory set…few more weeks and I will have it…just waiting for the last payment from customer. Thank you again for this video…exactly what I needed to hear to make the purchase.

That watch has been growing on me since Bruce got his. Pure class! I have added 3 gold Panerai to the collection this year. There is some fantastic value in their PM pieces (secondary market) right now. Two sub-$10K. I used to think anything but stainless was a waste, but I've completely changed my perspective. I may have to get a Day Date like that in future!

Its definitely also a sign that you have achieved something, and bunch of times it helps while networking with people etc. Watch is a classic, I remember the first time I saw you Will, when i got one of your videos recommended here on youtube, the golden day date was one of the first thing Ive noticed as it is also one of my small dreams, once Ill have them as well.

That particular Gold Rolex is a dream watch, and it is beautiful, no doubt. However, it's difficult to wear that particular watch and not "appear" as a show-off. It blings 24/7

It's a valid concern. I usually only wear it in Dubai, and if I do take it to England, I only wear it in the countryside. I'd take it off if I went to Manchester or London or any other city. It's a shame to have to say that. I wonder if anyone who watches-no pun intended-this video has ever had a watch stolen from them 🤔

Thank you for sharing. You want to write a hand written letter about your achievement and what the watch means etc. Say bout opening it with your dad and how proud he was (that was a great part of the story, beautiful and heart warming.) Then keep the letter with the watch box to be passed on. That would be wonderful and adds the personal element to the watch and reduces its chances of just being sold on.

I have a Day-Date in white gold and to me it’s a lot less noticeable, so I don’t feel as uncomfortable wearing it anywhere but the yellow gold version is classic. 👍

Like the content, but I think your idea of saying to the world that you're not materialistic, but proceeds to buy the flagship model (Day Date) of a luxury brand is simply, RIDICULOUS. Especially when that luxury brand is Rolex, of all brands. The brand is literally synonymous with luxury, and luxury only. Maybe the limited clothes is just being cheap, which is not a bad thing, I know many people like this, but that is not to be confused with not being materialistic when you have someones annual salary on your wrist.

The problem with the idea of ‘generational’ watches is that styles change - this will eventually just be the next ‘your grandfather’s watch.’ Just think back. Only a couple of decades ago I bought what was Rolex’s flagship top-of-the-line watch at the time, a platinum 36mm day-date. I still have it but don’t even bother. My son would never wear it. Then Rolex’s 40mm’s day-dates came out, and the 36 was no longer any kind of serious men’s watch. In my own father’s time 34mm Pateks were the gold luxury flex-watch benchmark. Who’s to say any of your children etc will even want to be seen in public with that particular Rolex a few decades from now? Not very likely.

I believe the value of luxury watches actually appreciated more than the S&P500 across the last couple to yrs. Many people forget that watches are actually an appreciating asset.

Categorically false. The luxury watch market has tanked since mid 2022. It went parabolic for 18 months between 2020 and early 2022 but it's been a one way slide since then.

@@KiranRobbin All the hyped Rolex models are down since the 2022 peak. A Pepsi GMT would go for 20K at the peak, you'll be lucky to get 15K now. Sure it works if you can get them at retail prices, but very few people have the AD connections in order to do that. And if, God forbid, you actually wear your watch - extremely small chance you'll ever make a profit on it. A dealer wouldn't pay Will more than 25K for his (more likely to get low 20s for that particular model even if it's in excellent condition) As @sc1 said above - most watches do much worse than the S&P Buy a watch because you want to wear it, not as an investment.
