Steel cut oats are great with canned pumpkin purée, coconut milk, cinnamon & maple syrup. Mix all together & pour into a buttered baking pan. It’s like pumpkin bread. Fall will be here before we know it but this is tasty all the time.

I’ve been loving making cold brew in my Bean Envy cold brew coffee maker. It is a glass container with a stainless steel filter. I brew it at room temp for about 16-20 hours, then take out the filter and put it in the fridge. It’s really easy to make and clean. Just make sure you buy coarse ground coffee!

When I was in college I used to make cold brew in a French press. I stand by using freshly ground coffee beans (coarse ground in this case), the flavor is so much better. I used to get the coffee from the bulk section at Whole Foods and it was super cheap and I was able to grind it there too. I’d do one cup ground coffee with 3.5 cups water and I think I let it brew for 36 hours. There are certain optimal amounts of time for cold brewing coffee that I do not remember but it’s a bit of science so I’d look into that!! Hope this helps lol

I LOVE cold brew so I invested in an actual 'cold brew maker' (Ovalware RJ3). I use dark roast beans, grind them medium/coarse, then let it brew in the fridge for 24 hours. I strain it into a mason jar over cheese cloth and it keeps really well for over a week.

My favorite oatmeal recipe: one serving of oats, half water and half milk, one to two tablespoons of chia seeds, half a mashed banana, and cinnamon to taste. Mix it all together and leave it in the fridge overnight. Perfect balance of sweetness plus some sneaky protein and some nice textures. Plus it's pretty cheap considering how healthy it is. The only expensive ingredient is the chia seeds and you don't need that much

I like it because I can use it to hand froth my milk too. I use coarse grounds and I let it sit at room temp for awhile before putting it in the fridge (about 2+hours) and I leave it for at least 24hrs. I like to use a caramel roast from a local shop for that extra bit of flavour, I tried syrups but they were NAAASTY.

YAAS I don't know where the shame for quick oats came from in the last few years but I'm happy they're coming back to knock steel cut oats off its pedestal. I found the best way to use up my steel cut oats was literally to make a big pot of it in the beginning of the week. I just made it plain to use as a base every morning. Then you can just add whatever toppings and eat it hot or cold. Bada bing bada boom
