For me, it's craft supplies - when I see something I like at a bargain price, I seem to get temporary amnesia and forget about all the supplies (and undone projects) I already have at home. Don't beat yourself up, Dawn, you're doing great! p.s. in terms of craft supplies, I often buy something and get home and find I had already purchased the exact same thing before (an identical yarn or fabric print), I would attribute it to being a senior citizen except I've been doing it my entire adult life.

A timely reminder to watch our necessary or unnecessary purchases. I’m turning 60 this year in February and I’m determined to buy essentials only from now on and use up what I already have. I bought several pairs of shoes on eBay last year and most don’t fit comfortably and I regret the purchases. That was my biggest wasted money.

@ritadyer9295 - We bought an aarke 3 years ago. Its basically a metal sodastream. We invested in a 5lb carbondioxide bottle that we can fill for $30. This one has lasted over 18 months at this point. We don't bother with expensive cola syrup. A little fruit juice,or a splash of lemon works great though. You can use ginger root to make a thick syrup by boiling it with sugar. I did that for Christmas and it was a lot of fun.

We have an all electric house and our bill is high. However, we cut it by about half, mostly by using small appliances for cooking. I will never go back to using my large oven and energy sucking stove burners. I use my large countertop oven, 1500 watts and elec skillet 1200 watts and crockpots 3 qt and 4.5 quart for all my meal preps. Took some time to work it out, but the proof is in the elec bill. Freezer full of breakfast, dinner and baking. I am 70 years old. Never ever too old to learn. Pray about it and let God help you. ❤

I love my KitchenAid stand mixer, but all of these fun things take up SOOOOO much space! Kitchen counters are only so big and I don't like them being cluttered. My small pantry is full of FOOD. Between coffee pots, microwaves, mixers, crock pots, toaster ovens, pressure cookers, air fryers and all other fun stuff, we'd need to add another room, just to store it all!
@christines2787Күн бұрын
Small appliances can get out of hand. I went with pour over coffee to save space. Hand held can opener is in a drawer with the corkscrew. I utilize the space under the cabinets for a banana hook and 2 kitchen aide attachments. I have a seperate kitchen closet for the food processor, instant pot and blender. Stick blender ans scale fit in a cupboard. Only daily use items get actual kitchen counter space. So, really just the stand mixer

i found my air fryer to be messy and hard to clean ($17.00) on sale from $35 so i knew it was a great deal--but the mess and scrubbing is horrible. I bought about $30 of new clothes this past summer...not bad, used them all. I have been wearing the same capris for 5 summers! 6 pair. I just threw 4 pair out last week---time to get new ones this coming summer. I have two pair of shoes. One pair of sandals. One pair of sneakers (hate to wear sneakers). I have 2 coats....one was $35 on end of winter sale...regular $225 Calvin Klein. My 4th year with it !! It's gorgeous. My other is a whopping 12 years old and looks brand new ! Lands end and never goes out of style...black fake suede. I paid full price but it's averaged to $10 a year to wear it !! And i think they are $250 now. I made saving money a hobby and it's fun. My sister is wealthy, i am not and i'm not kidding---i have fancier, more expensive clothes than she does. I've caught her staring me down in my $225 coat LOL I think it would sell for over $300 now LOL Check out Easy Spirit shoes after christmas sale---half price. I can't stand shopping---that helps too.

Kitchen gadgets are my downfall. I bought a food dehydrator thinking I could make fruit last longer by making dried berries, banana chips, pineapple chunks, etc...and I've never used it. I think the peach and white top is beautiful and very stylish. And you can dress up at home too especially because you do film a lot and then the clothes won't feel like such a waste. I have been buying stuff sparingly but promised myself I'd put more into my wardrobe. For the most part that was a success. I learned that I won't be buying bras online again. It's best to try them on, so I had some waste there. I also think I've finally learned that cheap shoes are often a false economy and this year I plan on putting some money into the shoes I buy and buy shoes that will last longer than one season. Thanks for making us think and reflect.

For 2025, we decided to get rid of the fish, tank, and supplies. Cost and time to take care of it wasn't worth it anymore . An Air fryer only does two things Air fryer and reheat fry foods great. You have mentioned that you don't have much Realstate in your kitchen just like I don't. About 4 or 5 years ago, I requested to get a the biggest NingaFoodie for all my gifts for the year. The children got the middle size one, which I exchange for the XL. They now understand why, they wished it would have been ½ a size bigger. (They don't make it bigger.) We use it about 3 times weekly minimum. It is a pressure cooker, a slow cooker, an air fryer, and other settings I don't use as often. It takes the same amount of space as the crock pot on the counter. It was significantly more expensive than an air fryer, but it has paid its price in Realstate. I got it on sale, too. I can leave a big piece of meat cooking for dinner without worrying about burning it or our home.

I never buy things that are popular because they only last for a season if that and then there’s something else that comes on that popular…. Plus I do not like clutter on my countertops, I cannot stand a kitchen full of appliances sitting out. Plus, I do not cook as much as I used to well hardly ever so I don’t need all those handy dandy items they try to get you buy… so before you buy think about how many times will I use that item and where would I put it when I’m not using it. another place to take your items too, that you don’t use anymore that our kitchen items is to a assisted living facility where they cook for the patients I’ve taken a crockpot. I’ve taken a mixture and I’ve taken some of my clothes that I don’t wear anymore that some of the people don’t have enough changes of clothes. And I have bought clothes this year mainly pants online that don’t fit that I never sent back now that’s a waste of money 2025 is a no buy unless it’s an emergency. ❤

I make things ahead and put into serving containers that go in the refrigerator or freezer and I still use my air fryer. It is great for making chicken breasts, pork chops, bratwurst, and even steak. It comes out seared on the outside and juicy on the inside. I make my baked potatoes, baked sweet potatoes, and fried potatoes in there all the time. I use it for sausage links, bacon, and sweet corn too. I have in the past purchased a lot of things that I seldom use, but I still keep them. I don't impulse buy but still have to really think about whether I will really use the item. My downfall is books. I have so many books that I purchased that I have yet to read, but I am getting better and set aside some time every night to read a book or some magazines. I had a lot of magazines that I subscribed to and it would be months before I read them. I have cut that way back to 3 magazines that I like and do read.

I highly recommend you find a great thrift store that has low prices on clothes and just keep throwing them out as you gain or lose. The clothes will be a better quality at the same price you are paying for brand new ones. Plus, they are broken in, so you know the size won't shrink. To me, a foot tub is a medical expense. The reason you don't use some items is because they're not convenient to use. The foot bath for instance, you need an extension cord, and you have to fill it with water where you're sitting. Hmm, last year it wasn't much. I like to buy books used, and I also like to treat myself to a few from the under 3€ category, for which I can hardly find any information, and there were often good books among them and sometimes not. A book about watercolour painting called Ultimate Watercolour Challenge, the book itself is also very good, but I didn't find much information about it before, and had bought the Watercolour Challenge book a year before. It turns out that the Ultimate book contains the contents of the challenge book and much more. I should actually have just bought the ultimate book, it was only about 4.60€ for the challenge book. A book about acrylic painting for 2€ with 128 pages, started well with the explanations of the material and techniques, but fell a lot short for the projects, which are described far too roughly and often only on 2-3 pages. As if the author ran out of space for the projects and didn't want to reduce the number of them. I also have something bigger: 90€ for an archery club. Actually, it's always money well in the years spent, but since last fall I've had a tendonitis that I haven't been able to get rid of yet, and I was there maybe 4 times at the beginning of the year.

I have seen you wear some of the tops. They look nice on you. Don’t regret that. I, personally, for myself, no more kitchen items, especially the ones that take up space. Thanks for the video ❤🎉

I'd agree to be honest. Your channel is a buisness. View the very occasional purchase of clothing as a business expense.

I’m pretty thrifty - I’m sure my kids would call me cheap - but I wanted to surprise them with Oprah’s favorite charcuterie board for Thanksgiving (over $160!). I had a temp job so could afford it. I don’t think anyone enjoyed it - very strange assortment of cheeses. Was disappointed.

Well i don't drink..don't smoke..never eat in Restaurants..etc. You get the picture. I have a good income as a retired person but i go to the hairdressers 2 x a month. My money goes on food. High quality healthy good for you food. Freshest vegetables fruits meats etc. Juices. So i need to look at this seriously i. 2025. As far as clothes go i will spend $100.00 a month on freshening Up my wardrobe and on average $100.00 a month on facial pdoducts and toiletries. I need to re-examine this.

Mistake purchase: One electric grill that was NOT smokeless. Then I got the Ninja 6 in 1 smokeless grill on sale so the first grill is no longer in use.

You might want to hold the kitchen items for when your daughter moves out.

We bought daughter a car after graduation that we could have spent less on. Went above what we had decided on by a couple of thousand. We dont actually regret it because it got some additional saftey features that we are glad for when she works late. I bought a tablet I didnt desperately need. Its definitely easier to read on and a lot less heavy than my old one. We were able to repurpose my old one. It's now mounted on the wall in the kitchen for recipes. Specialty ingredients to play with. I passed over most, but there were a few that i thought would work really well and didnt work out to be what I hoped for. I know we should spend less on veterinary care. Keeping our old dog up and running is about $100 a week at this point. Im just glad we can do it. Daughter had offered to take some of the extra for loans and pay for a week of care every month. This is her childhood show dog, now 14 1/2. No. We are glad to do this for this beautiful old girl for as long as we need.
