Fun fact, Speed racer (4:35) was a movie created in the transition from Film to Digital capture, it was shot digitally, but most theatres still projected it on celluloid, and unfortunately, because of just how bright and colourful it looked, the intermediate process when transferring it from digital back onto a 35mm film strips for projection broke all of it's colours. The colour team spent almost 3 months working on a conversion LUT/matrix that would transfer the intended colour of the film onto a film strip and although they got close, they never fully succeeded, meaning this is one of the first films ever created which focused on it's digital projection and DVD/Streaming look more than it's film print/cinema release.

SO stoked the Beast resonated with you! I stumbled out of the theater. No film recently has made me ask so many questions about fate, humanity and circumstance. About the choices you made and more importantly the choices you didn't. Is emotion worth sacrificing for serenity? Is our humanity defined by our experiences or are we merely slaves to ego? Did I have a beautiful pianist girlfriend in 1910? Will I become an axe-murderer in 2078? At the end of it all I thought the films biggest message was to live in the moment. Incredible film.

Here's what I watched:- Godzilla Minus One (9/10) - _One of the few movies in recent memory that absolutely lived up to its hype. Godzilla is an actually terrifying beast in this movie and to top it all off the human characters are endearing and you actually feel invested in their story. Hands down the best Godzilla movie of all time._ Dune: Part One (8/10) - _Despite well directed, it was a frustrating watch for me mainly the first hour which is mostly just exposition and the pacing doesn't get better until the Harkonnen invasion happens and even after that the movie just kind of ends without much happening. I think the problem is the fact that it's all just a set-up, a good kinda set-up mind you and having seen the sequel the set-up definitely paid off but on its own Part One just acts as a base to make Part Two bloom unlike Fellowship of the Ring for instance which keeps you invested for more but also works as a standalone feature. That said, where the movie truly shines is on its technical prowess and Villeneuve's direction. I still remember the time when Dune was considered 'unadaptable' which makes sense since the novel was ahead of its time but thanks to Denis Villeneuve's vision this adaptation definitely lives up to its source material and he deserves all the praise for that. Hans Zimmer score is great as usual._ Dune: Part Two (9/10) - _I still have my issues with the pacing of the first movie but I'm also glad it took it's time in the build-up. This sequel was everything I hoped it would be and more. Timothee Chalamet was good in the first movie but here he had such an amazing screen presence. Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem and Austin Butler are standouts and also loved the changes that Villeneuve made with Chani in the movie. Such an amazing movie all around and unlike Part One, Part Two keeps you invested for more all while standing its own ground._ The Bear, Season 3 (8.5/10) - _I know people are not loving this season but to me it felt like a natural progression of the story. Episode 1 was such an unique episode, it felt more like diving into Carmy's memory lane and the score too kept lingering and repeating almost as if I'm dreaming, basically it felt different and I loved it. Also loved Tina's backstory episode even tho it came out of nowhere and could've easily been inserted in earlier seasons. Episode 8 was wholesome Sugar finally reconciling with her abusive mother and sharing a moment together while eating ice chips just too good honestly. I do understand the critisism however with all these great moments this season felt a little stagnant overall, it lacked the tension of previous seasons and there's a bit too much of Faks comedy but then again I love these characters so much that I can just see them have an ordinary day and still have a good time. Overall season 3 was definitely weaker than the first two but its still great nonetheless._ The Boys, Season 4, Episodes 1-5 (7.5/10) - _Yet another series that is getting alot of mixed responses lately and again I mostly disagree with that. The first 3 episodes were decent overall and doesn't really do much other than being a fun watch but episode 4 is honestly one of the best episodes of the entire show with some seriously good acting from Anthony Starr. I do think the plot is just stretching itself too thin at this point where every season basically feels the same and season 4 is no different._ House of the Dragon, Season 2, Episodes 1-3 (7.5/10) - _So far it's just alot of build-up and it really has that 'calm before the storm' kinda vibe. I'd say my only issue so far with this season in particular is that the writers are clearly showing the greens in a more villainous way than the blacks. Part of what made the books and season 1 so good is that every character is morally grey it splits the readers/viewers mindset and makes them think on the action that every character does good or bad. It's still too early in the season to really form a perspective on it so only time will tell._

Speed Racer is crazy good. Rewatched it last month as well. I love the transitions between shots and how they evolve throughout the film. I love how the backgrounds have this collage feel in some race scenes, like the sand dunes parallax twisting or whatever you want to call it. I like how much charisma most characters have, especially the family. John Goodman is the best movie dad. I liked the anti-corpo theme, or to be more precise, how a movie about racing turns into "art vs business". I liked the monkey too, of course. Great film. Don't let mediocre scores make you skip it.

@@caseys2698 Do it 😁. I've been going through Wachowskis' filmography this year. With two movies left, I think Speed Racer is my second favourite film directed by them only behind The Matrix. 1. The Matrix 2. Speed Racer 3. Bound 4. The Matrix Reloaded 5. Cloud Atlas 6. The Matrix Revolutions Or something like that. I'm sure there are plenty of people who will disagree. But Speed Racer is worth watching nonetheless 🫡.
