Sick Girl is an episode of Masters of Horror tv-series. different directors did individual episodes. Carpenter and Argento did 2 episodes each. One Missed call is a remake of a Takashi Miike film. Miike did it as a parody almost. He knew they would remake it in the US. I bet he found it hilarious it was taken seriously.

Glad you liked Vamp. I saw it in the day on VHS. I rented a copy and ended up reserving a room and VHS player at my University's Law Library to watch the movie. there. The casual Katie does a great job of a monthly round up, but please spoil us with more extended reviews. Please do more live chats. Maybe on Sunday after you come home from Sunday service, or after Bible Study, you could do a live stream. 😀

I enjoy your reviews. I have just discovered your channel and have subscribed. It is your obvious passion for these types of movies that I enjoy. I am a fan of Giallo films, and 70s horror, especially European horror, some exploitation cinema, arthouse movies and weird Japanese films. I really love Morgiana, it's one of my favourite films. It's more of an art house film really, with a kind of fairy tale feel. It is a very beautiful film, the colours are amazing. For anyone who has not seen it don't expect a horror film or a giallo or even a suspense film in the usual sense, it is very arty, very beautiful and rather gothic. This is not a recommendation as most people won't appreciate this, but if you have seen a trailer or clip and feel drawn to it, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Finally, someone else who didn't really like Pearl! All I seem to hear are rave reviews gushing about it, but...IDK, I didn't think it was terrible or anything, I just didn't think it was good, either. I was attracted to watch Late Night with the Devil because of the 70s thing, too. I thought it was interesting; I'll have to check out your review of it. "Bitch, it was not good" lmaoo, I have to agree on that! (Washing Machine) Loved what you said about Roadhouse*, it was really interesting! And you make a great point about the ending...I really don't think an individual changing who they are to assimilate into being or doing exactly the same as everyone else is a GOOD thing. Gives me definite dystopian vibes. Maybe it's just deja vu, but I feel like you've talked about The Dunwich Horror before? Maybe just in passing or something? Or maybe I just read your Letterboxed review lol. Shame it isn't very true to the story. I really like Lovecraft, and you're right, there are very few adaptations of his work. Tetsuo is definitely a hard movie to talk about, just because...yeah, I'm lost for what to say, too. I watched it (and it's sequels) back when I was in my "Weird Japanese Horror Movies" phase. Plus, I love body horror. Did your husband not have anything to say even about the head scene in Scanners? It's iconic! Have you seen the sequels, btw? I haven't but keep meaning to. OMG, please watch "May"! I love it. *I cannot say read or say that title without hearing it in Peter Griffins voice lol

Regarding the head scene in Scanners, he was just like "That looked really good." LOL! Not the most descriptive. I have seen Scanners 2. It is goofy. has a 90s made for tv feel. not very good.... but it does have some interesting aspects to it. I feel like if it had been made in another time it could have been better. too cheesy.

I used to love Lifetime movies lol. My friend and I would watch them as guilty pleasures, hot guys, questionable acting and crazy scenarios. As a specific interest though, I like made for tv horror movies. There’s been some really good ones (Duel starring Dennis Weaver from 1977) and some of them have become lost media (The Midnight Hour 1985).

Saw Vamp a couple years ago. It was alright. Saw Morgiana in April of this year, it was okay. Just something off to me about Czech films, but it was decent. Already said, big fan of Blue eyes of a broken doll. Like Eyeball, Tropic of cancer, etc it's my go to giallo. Love it. One of the first Paul Naschy films I had ever watched. The washing machine is terrible. I only watched it because it was directed by Deodato, who made Cannibal holocaust and was one of the giallo films I had to watch to be be a completist. So I could say "I've watched almost every giallo in existence. To the greats to the WORSE the genre has to offer" and The washing machine, damn was I disappointed. Never seen Road house, but I've been meaning it. it's on my to watch list. I had never seen Sixteen candles either, but I did watch it for my birthday last year, and it was really good. In 2020 I watched Dirty dancing and it was really good. My only issue with the movie was the "easily explainable/misunderstanding" trope. Every time I see that in a movie I am just like "WHY DON'T YOU JUST TALK TO THEM?! DOESN'T ANYBODY COMMUNICATE ANYMORE?!" and I start having a fantasy conversation in my head on what I would say and do; taking me out of the movie. Again.....HOW COULD YOU NOT LOVE OR LIKE ALICE, SWEET ALICE?! "it was very grimy" I KNOW, I THOUGHT YOU LIKED GRIMY, LIKE ME?! I LOVE GRIME!!!! "It reminded me of Matilda. It was shot like a comedy? WHAT?! Ya, I am exaggerating for comedic effect, but being serious...I never thought of the film in that way. I love the acting and overall feel of the movie. Love the ending. The mystery is good. Some of the directing is awesome. So I love a lot of the directing. The killer is great. The kills are great. The drama is great. Tetsuo: The iron man is really good. Great experimental film. Again, love Eyeball. It's pure comfort food. And of course I love Scanners. So far for my Summer marathon that began on the 5th. I watched an 80's Troma sex comedy, which was really good. I'll watch it again. I watched Blue crush from the 2000's, a movie about female surfers in Hawaii. It was decent. Didn't like the main girl surfer too much. Something off about her love interest. Nobody in the film really interested me that much. Watched Underwater from 2017....or 2020 when it was finally released. Big disappointment. The reviews were correct. A fairly forgettable bland boring movie. Couldn't give a f**k about anybody, like most modern movies, etc. Couldn't even f**king tell how people were dying/killed off. Today, I watched a 60's camping in London movie. It was good. I'd watch it again. Got a few laughs out of me.

SPOILER Alice sweet alice ****** was definitely weird like, I guess it just tricked me? I truly assumed it was the weirdo evil sister the whole time. the film didn't really give us any reason to think otherwise. so then i was like, why are we just watching this big long movie waiting for the little girl to get caught? so yeah the ending DID take me by surprise. I see your recent watches have been hit and miss, but that's all part of the fun i guess! lol

Gotta love Vamp, one of those films I can watch at any time. Hehe to be honest it feels like made for TV movies from the 70s, 80s and 90s actually had some redeeming qualities to them, not so much newer ones. Would love to watch Late Night with the Devil. I didnt like Pearl either, I thought X was way better. Yeah Washing Machine is very forgettable. Roadhouse is a really fun and entertaining 80s film, I have always been a bigger fan of 80s movies more so than 70s but Ive gotten more and more into them in later years. Great video Katie!

@@KatieoftheNight - A biker movie which has a lot of heart and soul - even if it took liberties with true-life events -- was "Mask" with Cher, Sam Elliot and Eric Stoltz (as "Rocky"). Not all biker flicks depict violence towards women. "Werewolves On Wheels" is campy - somewhat dopey -- but not too steeped in supernatural stuff. "Roadhouse" is kickin'! "Vanishing Point" - another great "road movie." "The Dunwich Horror" (1970?) was okay. "The Shuttered Room" (with Gig Young, Carol Linley and Oliver Reed" strayed so far from Lovecraft's tale. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the films of David Lynch. Stay safe. -- W
