I believe the itchy scalp issues are a result of your scalp being exposed to the air causing it to dry out faster resulting in an itchy scalp. Similar to when getting single braids.

@Oonagh722 жыл бұрын
I have a time tip for someone who is self installing. Put your hair in box braids or twists first (box being the operative word). Next start doing your hair from the center out. The boxes will be a built in grid guide. Starting from the center means you can pull your hair into a bun to cover your work. When it gets to the point of the braids and locs look kinda crazy together you will be tired and take a day or two off work and just get it finished.

I am almost five months into the journey. Your locs look pretty good and have grown alot. Some of the comments i have gotten include whether i applied something to my hair to make it curly after a wash and go. Others who are used to seeing traditional locs are like those are not locs. They are too small. And then others are like, u have never undid them. I am usually like, was i supposed to? During the first weeks one even stated she hated my hair. I was like cool. Old saying, still rings true. Why would someone not like the way you look with your natural hair!?!?! That’s crazy to me. As people of color we have to love ourselves and not feel that we’re only beautiful if we relax our hair, or wear wigs, or wear someone else’s hair that is not our natural texture. I love everything about this video. I installed my locs a little under 5 years ago...but everything you described took me down memory lane!!! 😅 Took me 6 weeks to install my microlocs as well. But I could not do wigs at all. I had to bust out the remixed bun 😆. Itch 👏🏾 ing 👏🏾... Chillllee... my scalp itched sooo much for the first week. And I am sure it’s because I didn’t have the proper moisture for my scalp mixed with the newness of the style. I had to make some adjustments over the first few months. And the entire perimeter of my locs would unravel due to my hair texture, so I had to re-establish those locs every month for the first 10 months. I have only seen 3 minutes of the video thus far... but Hunty... everything you are saying is 💯 %!!!

Root manipulation, so apply an aloe vera juice spray, preferably straight from the leaf, also were wraps, this helps the hair to grow, under the wrap wear something silk or satin, if your skin is sensitive to wraps around the edges of your face ( skin turns dark from the rubbing of the scarves and wraps or Doo - rags ) then pull it off the skin, wear them further back on the hair.

I don’t know if anyone else has already said this but it’s likely that the itching you experience is a sensitivity to the products you use on your hair. I have allergies to a number of different ingredients in shampoos, conditioners, lotions and even toothpaste. Fragrance (fragrance mix, parfum - and the many other terms used to mask the same thing ) is the most common aggravator and in almost ALL hair products. Some people think they’re not allergic because they don’t get severe reactions but you could have a sensitivity. I try to only use single ingredient products but when I slip up the itching is unbearable (I sometimes take an antihistamine if I don’t have the time to wash the product out right away). This was good to watch because I play around too much with hair products and my allergies (because I’m limited on options) and I am considering locs as a way to have my hair styled everyday so I could focus on doing my kids hair - I cut my husbands hair and do both my kids hair (and it’s A LOT of hair) - I have no desire to style mine.

I stumbled up your channel and my mouth dropped. I know they say everyone has a twin but you’re my cousins twin lol I’m Jamaican as well… In Jamaica everybody is family and if we aren’t family we know someone who knows your family 😂 Anyhow you’re a beautiful lady and your locs are beautiful 🇯🇲

I have micro-twists that I do myself. The only time it itches is when my scalp it dry, so I would suggest more scalp moisture. -Your locs are inspiring! I used to have larger locs and yours are SO GORGEOUS that I am really thinking about having locs again. (Also, these people are crazy..... your natural hair is seriously stunning!!!)

tight hair (any style) and even the mechanics of pulling/styling hair can cause a histamine response I.e. swelling and itching.

You and your hair are simply Lovely!!😍 For your itch, add some tree oil in your regular oil(any,olive, coconut,etc) add a few drops- I add 10-20,depends on how much oil I'm adding it to. It must be Mixed- do not use straight out of bottle!!! Looks like you know how to take great care of yours! Glad I found your channel !

We all have hands in hair syndrome, thats what the coils are for. If it is not hurting your hair or making it break off, I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy your hair.
