Just found your channel doing research about microlocs. I love how thorough your videos are and their overall quality. Looking forward to following your journey. I'll be starting mine end of 2021. Currently growing out my hair after shaving it completely bald 3 months ago.

I thought I did enough research but I guess I didn't because I didn't know about microlocs when I got my sisterlocs done. I also have fine hair and I told my loctician she should do the softer parts of my hair bigger because I will unravel... she didn't listen. So I do have some kind of that "buyer's remorse". I agree with you, let your mistakes be your own. Otherwise it's really nice to see a Jamaican in the community!

i have a question, have you notice a difference in thickness since you stopped braiding and banding? I got microlocs cause i dont think we have true sisterlocs in Kenya since it focuses on that tool that was patented. Plus, its expensive while its just the same thing. So i had my saloonist twist my hair (small twists) and then i have been interlocking my hair.
@kerrybellum3 жыл бұрын
Heya! I have noticed my hair getting thicker but I'm not sure if it's due to me not braiding and banding or due to my locs just going through their regular stages of maturity

Your locs will be GORGEOUS. Just remember, everyone's locs will be unique so don't feel bad about your locs if they don't look the exact same
@Oxymera3 жыл бұрын
I have fine, medium density hair. What kind of loc would suit me most? I want my locs to be full and I'm scared they will look thin
@Mimiscellaneous3 жыл бұрын
Either Microlocks or Sisterlocks could potentially give you a full look .(warning: it will look very thin in the beginning). It just depends on who you go to. As long as they are starting and maintaining with interlocking, microlocks can be the exact same as sisterlocks the only difference being that sisterlocks is a brand with a trademark grid pattern so it’s more expensive.
@Oxymera3 жыл бұрын
@@Mimiscellaneous but since they are so small won't it make it easier for my fine hair to lose locs?
@Mimiscellaneous3 жыл бұрын
@@Oxymera Not really. Your Loctician should know how much hair to use in each lock to prevent loc breakage. Also, staying on top of reties helps prevent losing locks. Plus while losing locks can happen, it doesn’t happen all the time or to everyone.
@kerrybellum3 жыл бұрын
Hi Destiny! I agree with what sabrina is saying, I have seen persons with low density hair achieved fullness with microlocs/sisterlocs. A good loctician will know the correct size of the locs you need to install based on your hair and will be able to guide you on maintenance

……micro loc when done properly looks just like sister locs. Now micro locks is getting just as expensive.
@kerrybellum3 жыл бұрын
Yes so true! And I understand why it's happening because it takes the same amount of time skill and effort. The only difference is that sisterlocs uses a trademarked system and locticians would want to charge more because they spent money to be certified in the system, and that is totally understandable
@satchiebabe60523 жыл бұрын
@@kerrybellum I don’t think their so call trade system/secret is any different. Like you mentioned they paid to get certified and signed to not disclose. To me its just another marketing tactics which has worked. Just like any designer bag it carries your purse it doesn’t stop the pic pockets but we still want it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@kerrybellum3 жыл бұрын
Lol well that's one way of looking at it
@thehappylife44713 жыл бұрын
@@kerrybellum That’s correct! I took the Sisterlocks class and I found out that I was already doing Sisterlocks on my own hair with Microlocks basically, only difference was the the tool used. Before I took the class, I had already found the grid system online so I already had the grid and everything! So I basically paid all that money to take the class for nothing. I just basically paid for the tools which are not the best tools. The London Locs tool is way better than the Sisterlocks clip tool and the IFBA black interlocking tool is just as good as their hook tool. Just saying. 🤷🏾♀️ Also microlocks may be better for some people because it doesn’t have to follow a grid system which can actually create more fullness and be healthier for the scalp. The grid can sometimes be so strict and be just for the look of the hair, forcing certain parts of the hair into a loc based off of were it lines up with another loc instead of how much hair is in that particular spot, density, etc. Goal for me was healthy locs that would not break over time with weight from extra length and occasional styling. I don’t really need a grid because I wear my hair freestyle most of the time anyways.
