Oh Courtney ❤ when you said that you are doing this to buy more time with your children it caught my heart and makes me want to reach out and encourage you! I am one of those children. My mother had RA and was overall super unhealthy. She was extremely overweight, in so much pain, afraid to move and didn't eat well. I don't say this out of disrespect-I think she did the best she could. But I always hoped she would do something like this. She passed away when I was 33 and now I'm 39, all grown up, and I have a stepmom I adore now, but I still miss my mom. There are lots of surprising big and small things that I miss about her and wish she could still be here to be a part of in my life. Like you, I strongly believe in God and that everything will be okay- I'll be with her again. All this to say: keep on taking care of yourself momma! You are doing this so well! Taking care of yourself right now will make such a difference in the lives of your sweet kids! I'll be cheering you on! I'm so proud of you and so glad your kids have you! Maybe one day they'll realize how grateful they need to be for what you're doing- maybe my voice can help everyone. ❤much love ❤

Same! I started in June @44yo and I feel so good. I’m definitely in perimenopause, and it has helped so much with the emotional and body changes. I never expected that I would feel this good in my body, even with the progressive overload achiness here and there. I can actually lift heavy things around the house. Get up off the floor, work overhead (I have shoulder issues), etc. Even though my body doesn’t look like a gym rat, I feel amazing.

Great video! Just like figuring out what works best for your hair, it seems like you've also figured out what exercise works best for your body! I also lift and progressive overload and love it. I don't have an autoimmune condition, but as I've gotten older- I have had less focus on running and cardio and more on strength and walking!

What a wonderful video, Courtney! You did a fantastic job!! You are so cute at everything you do, I just love your personality! Please do more so we can be motivated by you! Thank you for the app reco! I actually went back to Crunch today for first time in 3 months and did those dreaded Bulgarian split squats, lol. I have never used those squat racks along the wall…those are intimidating, but you make it look easy 😊 keep shining your light, girl ❤

I think progressive overload is great, but going super heavy isn't always a realistic expectation, especially with autoimmune conditions. I'm so happy you're able to lift heavy. As someone who's had a shoulder surgery, had bursitis in both hips, a torn hip labrum, and a knee and foot injury (😂) along with Lupus, I have learned the hard way that this doesn't work for everyone. Instead, I use lighter weights and focus using time under tension. I have found increasing muscle mass is still possible without the threat of injuring my super finicky body. So, if at any point you're unable to work out with heavier weights, there is another way❤

Thank you for sharing this! It’s such an important reminder that fitness isn’t one-size-fits-all. I love how you’ve found a way to focus on building strength that works for your body. Time under tension is such a smart approach, and I know others will find your perspective so helpful. I really appreciate you sharing your experience!

This is great, Courtney! Weight training is a proven and effective way to build muscle. Muscle= longevity. Having muscle mass, gives your body shape and makes you strong. It is the BEST thing you can to age well and live well all throughout our lives and especially in our senior years. Some women worry and think that weight training will make them very muscular. That won’t happen unless you are at the gym to train specifically for this goal, as those that do competitions are. For the rest of us, it just makes us look and feel great!

Thank you for sharing this! I completely agree-building muscle is about so much more than aesthetics. I love how you pointed out the importance of muscle for longevity and overall health. And you’re so right about the myth that weight training will make women ‘too muscular.’ It’s great to see more people breaking that misconception. I really appreciate your thoughtful input!
@jenv6846
@jenv6846 18 күн бұрын
Not exactly true, it depends on your body type and how you train. I have a stocky, muscular body type. I am looking a lot more muscular than I thought in a short time, and that’s not bragging. It just is. Most women will not experience the muscular physique though.

Yay for a fitness video. I thought you were changing gears some, but saw you had returned to doing mostly hair videos again. I'm almost 60 and love strength training, but have trouble maintaining consistency. I have a little bit of exercise ADHD where I just jump from one thing to another way too often.

Great video! 😀 But I personaly prefer yoga and long distance running. This helps me to reduce my stress level and this also helps me with my chronic illness. But in my opinion exercising is like caring for wavy curly hair. There is no right or wrong. Because everyone is different and has to find it‘s own routine. Happy new year to you Courtney and best regards from Germany.

Thank you for this! You are an inspiration! I've started to do some strength 💪 training at home, with what I have for weights right now. Thank you for the tip on core strengthening w/o having to get on the floor bc I hate getting down on the floor! I don't know if I'll ever go to a gym, that'll be a big stretch for me.

Thanks for sharing good, common sense advice on training. I'm now a competitive powerlifter at the national level who had a very hard time with long covid. I could not climb the stairs three years ago so I empathize with your challenges. Women should lift weights, period. We need to keep strong bones and strong bodies to enjoy our lives. You are sharing some great basic concepts, and the message that this takes time and that quick fixes aren't the answer is so important. Creatine is also fantastic. One word of advice to all - since supplements are not regulated, buy ones that have been submitted to third party testing. Yes it may cost more but testing has shown that many supplements do not have what is on their labels.

Congratulations on all your success as a power lifter! One of the reasons I really like the creatine from BPN is that it is third party tested. 🙌

Does your creatine dissolve in water? The one I tried didn’t dissolve and remained as a gritty powder at the bottom of my bottle. I loved this video! ❤More fitness please! 😊

@SwavyCurlyCourtney 19 күн бұрын
Haha thank you! Glad you liked it! So if I let my creatine sit for a few minutes and really shakes the bottle well before drinking it, I don’t notice it being gritty. But I have tried to drink it right after mixing and it was pretty gritty.

you can throw it in a smoothie if it helps with the texture. I also will mix it with an electrolyte powder. Creatine is a game changer. And the new research is showing it’s really good for most people.

Why did your sister stop working out when she took the Lean supplement? You said that was "good." I'm really confused.

No I meant it was good that the lean worked for her! Haha I was so nervous filming in the gym that I want clear. So sorry about that. She quit working out and eating well because life got busy. She moved into a new house, and the holidays really threw her off her normal nutrition. Hope that makes more sense 😅
