Great tips with the rod angle and line sizes…. Just to add to it, I actually throw triple grips on the front and back hook and a round bend on the middle hook, I’ve found when they /slap at it a lot times they actually hit the middle and don’t get hooked.

Also, just something to keep it mind… 1 brand is great… as long as you’ve got the different actions covered. Lots of brand s are not equal or even close to the same actions… for example a smith wick rogue has much less darting action than those 6th sense or a kvd jerkbait…. Not to mention the yo zuri, spo mcstick, and Rapala Husky jerk, shadow rap lines… it definitely pays to know which have what actions and how to use them though… your right about that!

Thank you for the good information. You answered alot of questions I've had, the hooks, depth changes during the retrieve. Do you locate fish first or do you cast to structure not knowing quite if fish are there. Seems like swim jig, chatterbait, spinnerbait is what you'd try first, just asking. You say and others that jerkbait is a good search bait. To me it seems more finesse and time consuming.

Yeah given the choice I like the others because I can get bigger bites with them. Although there are times when they simply won’t eat these others as good. Or I’ll use the jerkbait to trigger fish and then try to use other baits to get bigger bites

Not sure I understand if I spend 25 dollars on lure that I now have to buy efficient hooks. Never did that in the 80s.😳

Almost every hard bait on the market comes with absolutely horrible hooks… it’s nothing new…. It’s a marketing ploy… they own the hook companies as well. Buying bulk packs of triple grips is the way to go!!!

There's nothing wrong with the hooks. It's just hard to sell more tackle if you never change your hooks out. It's just easier to blame the gear than it is to learn what you're doing wrong and fix it, if you can't land the fish.

Most often time color, then it’s how fast you work it. Either slow way down or speed way up
